It is getting closer and closer everyday: the date that last year free dining was offered to the public.
Is anyone else stupid out there? We were offered free dining last year during September for the bounceback offer and did not reserve our spot. Yeah we are dumb, but weren't exactly sure that we were able to make this year.
So now we are waiting ever so patiently for the offered again. So is there anyone else out there that is waiting with your fingers and toes crossed?
Has ayone heard any rumors of it being offered again this year and when this might take place?
Any news that is good news would be appreciated.....

I was there in August and the Bounceback dates were only in September. I'm booked 23-31 August and hoping they include those dates... If they do, I'll go for it again!

We didn't take the offer either because we thought we would be going in February.. then came the Flu and all of the other wonderful winter bugs! :hammer:
So we too are waiting and hoping for it to be released. We will still go in September if they don't offer but it sure would be nice if they do.:D

:lol:And we will be watching and waiting for anything official to come out on the offer. Of course we will post any information on it IF/WHEN something is announced on the morning the offer becomes valid. And we will be waiting for your call and the multitude of other forum members who will be contacting us to book the offer.

The current rumor posted on Touringplans.com is an April 10th release date.

Touringplans.com is usually correct. They had the date for free dining last year as well. To me, the fact that they posted this makes it a lock.

Maybe I was stupid. I didn't take the bounceback offer (for Aug. 30 into September) because I hoped the general offer in April would cover the last week in August. But there's a good chance the best I'll get is what I could've gotten last fall with bounceback.

We didn't take advantage of Bounceback and will not be taking advantage of Free Dinning... The 2008 changes do not make it cost effective for us (2 people) to book free dinning compared to a nice resort discount.

We instead booked bounceback on this past trip and saved %30 off 6 nights at the Polynesian. %30 off the rack rate is nearly $102 a night, even if we eat exactly the same as being on the DDP (snack, CS, and TS a night) we'd still be saving money!

It worked well in our favor too, as most likely the Sept dates wouldn't work for a Disney trip, so we booked August 18th to the 24th instead.

If you considering a deluxe resort trip, definately keep your eyes and ears open after booking Free Dinning... you might find better savings with another code! Disney released some really great resort codes once the FD promotion ended.

Trust, the NANOSECOND that this offer becomes available (if they're doing it again this year) it will be posted on here, probably more than once!

If you visit once a day, especially around the rumored April date, you'll find out if/when it's being offered pretty much instantly.

I already booked my trip but was told that if it is offered I could call back and they would add it to my plan.
... if you are lucky.

Free Dining is a promotional offer, a sale. Disney doesn't put rooms on sale if they are already selling well enough. For each category of room at each resort for each date, they have a super-secret target occupancy rate. If the actual occupancy rate for your room at your resort for your dates already meets or exceeds that target rate, then the Free Dining promotion will not be available for your room. Having a pre-existing reservation will do nothing to assure you that you'll be eligible for Free Dining (in fact, the paradox is that if everbody made reservation in hopes of calling back to add Free Dining, then the rooms would be nearly sold out and Disney wouldn't offer Free Dining for those rooms!).

I wish you every bit of luck and Pixie Dust in your hopes of getting Free Dining. But don't be angry at Disney ifm when you call, they say it isn't available for your room. But don't worry, if you call early enough, there will be something available for you, as long as you can be flexible with resort, exact dates, room type, etc.

This is why I always recommend book what you can afford in advance to guarantee your spot for your trip. If a promotion comes out consider it a bonus and adjust accordingly. Never book expecting or even worse requiring a discount.

They will be able to do that as long as your resort/room view is not close to or at full capacity if/when the discount comes out. If it is, you will not be able to add the discount to your reservation. It's always a good idea to have a back up resort just in case.

Thaks for the tip, but why is that? It shouldn't matter where I am staying really, i wouldn't think.....is the free dining only for the resort or in the parks?
