September Myth or Fact

Ok I have heard that September is a great time to go to WDW b/c it is the slowest time of the year there. I have booked a trip for 22-25 with my wife as an anniversary trip. We are hoping to have a good time not having to swim through crowds to enjoy ourselves. I have noticed that everyone else on this forum seems to have booked trips in Sept also. So was I misled or are we all being smart by booking then?

You were not mislead...September is the cat's meow!!! It's hot but the crowds are very light. If you time it just so, you hit free dining, Food and Wine Fest and MNSSHP!

My wife and I are planning on taking our daughter next year in September. My only concern is being able to get a reservation for breakfast at Cinderella castle.

This year I made Cinderella Castle reservations for our daughter for September. Based on what I had heard I was going to only have a slim chance. Well, I was online at 6am and by 6:02 had my reservations. I had a choice of times. Not as bad as I had heard but then again it wasn't July either.

We always go around Sept 24 or so and it is lighter crowds. But we just got back yesterday, May 10, and it was amazing. At 10:30 a.m., we walked onto Peter Pan with a 5 minute wait!!!

Was looking into the free dining, but since we are AP members I was thinking about getting the TIW card instead. Looks like it gives a good discount and you don't have to buy Magic your way tickets to get it. Anyone else have the TIW card. Can you use it for a whole party?

Yes, the discount applies to the whole party.

September is indeed a great time to go, but I'm surprised no one's mentioned the better time to go - the first two weeks in December (right before schools release for winter break). Not only are the crowds incredibly low, but you get the benefit of all the Christmas decorations, the Christmas parties, the Christmas shows and fireworks, and the temperature is very manageable with a "spring" jacket.

We went in December of '08, 5th thru 15th, because we heard it was a good time go, it was cooler and the christmas decorations are awesome but it was pretty crowded. September sounds great but what about the first week of October?? We'll be there Sept. 29th thru Oct. 9th this year, hoping that crowds are low at the other three parks since the F & W festival is going on at Epcot, although I plan on eating there a few times during our visit. So looking forward to free dining.

The reason you see so many people on boards like this say they are going in Sept is because we all know what a great time to go it is. :)

It's one of the slower seasons, though with Free Dining not as much as it used to be. Same could be said for any time of year at WDW - there used to be "dead" times of year, but it's not quite like that now.

It's a great time to go, and I will be there as well. It's a nice balance.
