I think now even the most cynical can see why some were so optimistic when this plan was announced.

That is quite the scrim around Yankee Traders. I still think there is still the possibility of a m&g. There is space.

I can't wait to see the MK circa 2021. I am sure I will get back there by then.

Don't forget that the Tangled area is going to have one of the new D-Zones which will take up a chunk of that space.

Wow, it really seems like they are getting down to business with the SDMT, really accelerating (of course it has been a while since I last saw aerials).

The new pavement is either really well done or still dirt from construction. Can't tell where it starts/ends. Are the brown areas surrounding the exposed castle wall just themed pavement or was this pulled up?

Also, I'd love to see how they are going to get that crane out. I guess it will go under that extension by LM or something.

I think the area around the walls is themed pavement, just not sure why it looks so much darker in this aerial then it does from the ground pictures. Maybe it's wet in the aerial picture. If it was torn up they would have a construction wall around it.

As for the path by Aerial I am still not sure if that is dirt or themed concrete. Really hard to tell.

Looks like dirt to me. Paving seems to end just outside Gaston's village. The Mermaid entrance, which is paved, doesn't match the rest, making me think it is dirt still, for now.

Check out this photo. I took it straight from Scott's sight. (better quality and more zoom-in-able)

The lines in the path suggest to me that it is indeed concrete that has the gotten the "ye olde world horse and buggy" treatment. And that goes right up the gate. In fact, it seems as though the green walls are pretty much set to accomodate opening all but SDMT when it gets the go-ahead.

SDMT still won't open until 2014 even though they've got that much done already? I know the FL project is slow, but that still seems to be a stretch looking at that.

Here is a markup of the Mine Ride track that I did using Scott Keating's latest aerial and a track layout that has been posted here. Most of the foundations for the left side are in place so that should be pretty accurate. Right side foundations appear to still be in the works so that side might be a little off.Red is outdoor track, yellow is indoor.

Verrryy close. the 1st 3rd and 4rth turns are just going to be a little bit wider and longer and will into were the current dirt construction road is. If you look both at the model and pics looking south at the section by tea cups you’ll see the ride track is a good story below that current path and has rock work to show a cliff.

I believe there is another area of indoor track/show scenes in the lower left (after the curve). In fact, your line clearly passes through an area that has walls and looks to be enclosed in the future.

Thanks, that actually makes sense. There aren't any foundations over there yet so I was sorta winging it with the track postion.

1. I can't wait until the water starts flowing!

2. I'm still shocked all of this land is going to 2 rides, a walk-through, & a restaurant. It's themed extremely well & I know there are still shops & things I'm neglecting to mention but... ehh. So glad it is getting SDMT instead of those two M&Gs but man, I feel they underused all of that land.

3. Is it possible those buildings behind SDMT near TLM will hold some sort of counter service treat stand? It would be nice to have some well-themed tables with umbrellas to sit at & just take in the beautiful landscaping there. Just wishful thinking on my part.

I think we are seeing a lot of rush now to get the ride in a state where people can walk around it and get to the other parts of the expansion without being impeded by construction equipment. Once the first phase opens up, I think construction on SDMT will slow down again.

Thinking back, it seemed like the little mermaid building got put up rather quickly (after the foundations were laid) but once the building structure was in place, the exterior details moved at a snails pace. Doesn't necessarily mean its not getting work done, but rather it isn't externally visible.

The mine ride has actually been under construction for a year now and they are still putting up the steel structure and foundations for the track. The details that go over all of that are the part that takes the most time. In comparison, In July of 2011 (about 16 months before opening) the rest of the expansion looked like this...

I think I see what he is looking at, I have highlighted it in red...

BackofMineRide.jpg

I think you've outlined the back walls of the buildings, there seems to be a large concrete rectangle between the red lines and the yellow barriers that is probably the front edge of the buildings

I think the red line is going to be the front edge of the buildings, since it seems to pretty closely match the front of the buildings in the model.

but if you extend them forward they still match, I'm thinking is they are shops, what you've maked off is maybe back room storage space?
