SENTINEL Spotrs Commentary: Whitley: No Super Bowl MVP treatment for these teens at D

Pumbas Nakasak

Heading for the great escape.
Yup - I was stationed there from 86 to 89 - how about you?

I paid a visit around that time with an RAF recce squadron, I still have that badge. Actually it was 85 cause Live Aid was on.

Lovely town and the USAF bar had plenty of tequila, i vaguely remember.

Could it be that the white kids being told to move along actually move along?
Could it be that the white kids DO mouth off and are given a little more slack because they are white, and therefore, are deemed by most to be non-threatening?

I'm of two minds about this situation, because on one hand, I can't stand going places where there are groups of teenagers (white, black, whatever). In my experience, they tend (not always, though) to be raucous, obnoxious, and disruptive. So if Disney is clearing out these groups, I am all for it and it will make my next trip WDW that much better.

On the other hand, if this clearing out is just a maneuver to "brighten up" DTD and make the purse-clutching tourists feel better, then that's wrong. ALL groups of loitering teenagers should be escorted off, not just the ones that "look like gangbangers" (i.e. black and Hispanic teens).

Ah, yes... a very active club at Memmingen. There was no satellite TV in those days, and the exchange was the size of a closet, so we made our own fun. Being primarily twentysomethings and military, fermented beverages were the focus of much activity.

The town was tremendous - I love Bavaria. Too bad they closed up all the MUNSS units.:(

I hate the media. Once in a blue moon they actually get something right. I'm glad Disney realized maybe a lifelong ban was a bit out there. They don't need an apology though. Just because you do something dumb once or twice doesn't mean you cant see the error of your ways later. Once more, I hate the media.

Well, the media hates you too.

Football players just hanging out and talking to women...right. I'm SURE it was so innocent. Just some teens standing around doing nothing. Give me a break, these guys are probably so full of themselves for being FSU recruits that they think they can get away with anything. Just look to college, NBA, and NFL players to see that many athletes think they are above the law.

I still do not believe the story that these guys were doing absolutely nothing wrong.

I agree in full. I'm 20. I goof around all the time. When I was 17 I goofed around less, but differently. If Disney has a reason to throw him out, they can and I hope they do. If the kid is black, brown, yellow, green, white, or blue (one of my best friends is indian and I do love the Blue Man Group, so no bias here), I don't care, if they're making a scene throw them out.

What they "did" sounds a lot like when my sister does something and wants to hide it...

"Oh... we walked around... we bought tickets... sat down to eat... AND I SWARE THEY JUST KICKED US OUT!"

We will never know the full story, but I have a feeling Disney isn't at fault here (too much.)
