That sign is way more irritating than a selfie stick.
How? Does the small, fixed in place sign pose any issue for guest saftey? Does it block people's views of shows and parades?

It's bad show. Enforce the policy outside the gates, not in the queue of one of your marquee and best-themed attractions. I don't object to the sign per se, but I don't like the location. How? It's not in a position as if it's telling you what to do once you're on the train. It's smack in the middle of the queue. The same ride has other warning/saftey signs including ones for exits, FP+, no smoking and what not to do while on board the trains. This one falls into that category and if it's necessary to get the message across, than so be it.
probably because people might have been hit WHILE on the queue with the selfie stick? It's not in a position as if it's telling you what to do once you're on the train. It's smack in the middle of the queue.
Then it shouldn't be allowed in the park, period. When I visited in April they really didn't seem like a problem but if it's a legitimate safety risk they should be gone entirely.probably because people might have been hit WHILE on the queue with the selfie stick?

I mean that same argument can be made for firearms.I think this is one of those things that should have been addressed at the start. At this point? IDK what can be done.
Ban them all you like, people aren't going to listen. Tell people not to use them on rides, they're not going to listen.
Short of kicking people out of the parks or taking them away, IDK what Disney can do?

Simple. Classify it as a weapon.
Won't happen. You'll have selfie-stickers crying about people with monopods and tripods then. I'm a tripod carrier and follow the rules.
Other parks ban tripods, FYI.
In the hands of pretty much anyone that knows how to swing a baseball bat, a selfie stick could very well be considered a weapon.... might just be me thoughSimple. Classify it as a weapon.
It's a shame that this has to happen and that there are so many selfish people who just choose not to follow the rules.
Ok I will share my view on this. My daughter is a CM that works at Thunder. I know that the selfie sticks have been an issue for quite a while on there. They constantly tell guests to store them before they enter the ride, while in queue and they are still telling them to put them away while on the ride. And I can tell you that if they have to spiel to put the selfie stick away more than once, the ride gets stopped and the guests are then evacuated. It's a shame that this has to happen and that there are so many selfish people who just choose not to follow the rules. Disney has always had the rules of keeping everything inside of the vehicles at all times. (hands, arms, feet and legs) Selfie sticks are not an exception to that rule.
