This is the end of an era for me, my AP is expiring and for the first time since infancy I will not be a WDW regular. As a child my parents took me, as a teen my brother worked at HoB and got us into the parks, as an adult I've renewed a pass since 2008. Mostly due to less available personal time, I've decided the AP no longer holds its worth for me.
Which brings me to ask, who else has dealt with having to break up with the mouse? And how did the change work out for you? I'm already missing it, even though I was there two days ago for my last go. However, I'm putting together a lot of positives...
1. Obviously a big finanical savings.
2. Watch the FP+ fiasco work itself out from a safe distance.
3. Let time pass for new things to be built, and old ones to feel fresh again.
4. Spend saved $ next year to see the new Universal toys.
Thanks for the conversation all. See you at the DHS Pixar Place expansion hopefully!

We're doing the same this year. And even so, were spending even more days this forthcoming trip outside of WDW. And then the APs will end.

Next year.... Possibly one or two days at the MK just for sentimental sake. More at Uni/IOA/Seaworld etc. and maybe a cruise.

TDO have killed most of the appeal. It kills me to say it. Considering five years ago my life revolved around WDW.

I have visited every year since I was 9 (I'm now 30) and I'm thinking it may be soon that me and the mouse didn't break up but did a Ross and Rachel and went "on a break".....

I am visiting in April but think that will be my last trip until at least HP 2.0 opens up and after that who knows.... The mrs wants kids I'm reluctant a large part of that is because I won't go to WDW until they're old enough to enjoy it.... But then I guess I have a great excuse to go every year again!

Our last trip was November of 2011, and it took awhile to adjust to not having a new reservation already made almost as soon as we came back. But now, we realize how much money we have saved in the last year. I will be paying off the last credit card soon, and no plans to use it in the near future. We too, have watched the FP fiasco and having to plan out your entire vacation at least 6 months in advance (now rides also) did it for us. Totally agree with your number 4, and that may be our option also. We miss it, but will get over it....

We are letting our A/P's expire after our spring break trip in a couple of months...it's sad, but hopefully the thought that this will be our last trip for a couple of years will make it a little more special. Fingers crossed there are some great new things in 2015 - 2016...but not holding my breath....

I posted a little bit back about how Disney was getting less of our dollars and less of our time. Sorta sad, as we still very much enjoy the whole WDW experience, but with ever escalating pricing, next gen, lack of progressive thinking (see Epcot empty pavilions) and other reasons, we decided a while back to go less often. I'm sure the bean counters already know there are plenty of new visitors to make up for us regulars who are cutting back, but it seems to me plenty of us repeat customers make the company a lot of money.

I wouldn't say I'm "breaking up" with the Mouse, but we certainly have a more open relationship than years before. The Mouse & I used to be tight, as in never a year went by without seeing that WDW entrance sign. (Sometimes, even more often than that). But lately, I've been flirting with this hot chic I like to call "Uni" down the street. She seems to offer more, and has changed her appearance for the better over the past 2-3 years. The Mouse is quite okay with this openness in our relationship, as countless Brazilian groups fill the void I have left open. So overall, no mental scars from either party involved.
I still see the Mouse every several yrs or so, and will probably get much more serious once she gets a new set of wheels in DHS. Until that time...

We've been here in central FL for almost 2 weeks now. Although we have been on Disney property 3 times, we have yet to set foot in any of the parks.

I'm visiting the world this summer and we've been going on an annual basis since I was born. I feel like universal has made more of an effort in recent years than disney has, so we might go to uni next year instead of the mouse.

We are DVC so we are committed to going there, which I always have loved, but the sparkle is less sparkle-y for us - and I don't mean that in a jaded way. We love just being in the atmosphere there, but it would be so much more fun and exciting to have some new life in the old stuff and a little more WOW factor in the new stuff. All of our trips in the last three years have been short, like 2, 3 or 4 days, because of work and school (granddaughter) commitments. Although now that we live in FL means we don't spend much on getting there - just a tank of gas- hey wait, gas is almost the same as air fare now! Oh well, but I think we have reached the tipping point with the food and extras. There are a lot of Disney restaurants I would like to try, but even though we have the TiW card I can't justify spending upwards of $40.00 per person each meal time, only maybe once each trip. Whether I eat at a buffet or counter service my tummy only holds the same amount of food. We do counter service and go off property now to eat more than before, and we bring food, snacks and beverages with us from home to the hotel. Even though we take advantage of the monthly billing on the AP the price goes up each year, in fact new this year children over 3 now are charged the same price as adults. I will hate to get to the point where we may have to re-think the AP.

I can't imagine going more than once every 3-4 years. There is too much to see and do in the world.

I am in the same boat as many of you. My AP is up one month from today. I won't be renewing until at least next year - and even then - I may wait yet another year.

It has actually become very exhausting watching the World the last couple years. No real additions - and even sadder - no set plans for additions either. I feel we have been teased and played with from everything from Carsland leaks and rumors - to promises of a revitalized Downtown Disney - to even Avatar, which has yet to be seriously discussed by the company beyond an initial announcement and a "We promise - it's coming".

Now, with what appears will be the end of the light parade tradition and implementation of what will essentially tier guests and their park experiences, I think I need to take a couple steps back, and watch the impending train wreck from afar. Meanwhile, thank you, Disney. Thank you for allowing me to save thousands of dollars these next couple years by not visiting your parks. It was indeed Limited Time Magic...

Oh yes, how could I forget to mention the whole Nex-Gen thing. That is really stressing me out! Maybe I am over reacting but I am not looking forward to any of the chaos of it.

I know exactly how you feel. I'm at the point that when im vacationing in Orlando the most I will do is eat at one of the resort restaurants or go for a stroll through downtown disney. I'm not going back to the parks until major fundamental changes happen.

When you get tired of something it's ok to walk away... It will make you miss it and want it back. :)
It's being tired of how what we loved is now being used. What I miss won't come back until a fundemental shift in management direction occurs. Until then, other places can have our money and time.

It's knowing how good things used to be, and having things tip too far in the opposite direction.

We need time for things to happen.
I totally get it.
The mouse is still getting my cash for a little longer because even though I'm full aware what WDW is lacking (and right now it's quite a bit) - Right now for our family it's still a very good bang for our buck...but I totally understand people saying "I've had enough" I really do. The sad thing is it's the life long fans... people who have held APs for years..and they've just had enough.

Now I only wish that the amount of people that were fed up would actually effect the "bottom" line and force TDO to get off their lazy a$$es and do what needs to be done.

Unfortunately for every one of us diehards that bails for lack of value, based on what was and what should be, there is a flock of newbs mesmerized by a product that is, by most consumer standards, a cut above the rest.
