I don't know if anyone else posted this yet, so if they have sorry. Anyways, I was at the Magic Kingdom last weekend and instead of having one central security check they now have them in front of the lines, like at EPCOT.

I dont remeber seeing a Bag check at AK when i wet last summer. I might be mistaken and i have a bad memory. Ill ask my sister b/c she insited on caring a stufpid bag all day. i cant stand caring a bag.

AK had a tent with a couple of tables the same way that MK did.

Hey there Mickeyman819 - You've got a faulty computer keyboard, it keeps leaving letters out when you type and it looks like you can't spell !!!!!!!  :p

This has been covered somewhere else. Apparently, they changed to the front of the lines while building a permanent bag check in the place of the old temporary one.

DITTO!
It's great walking right around all those families who bring their luggage to the parks!

Fast-pass entry! That's a cool way to think of it! I love it!

I'm not surprised they are making it a bit more aesthetically (sp?) pleasing. When it was first put up, perhaps they thought it would just be temporary, but now it seems like we may be searched before going into the grocery store. Which I don't mind at all, its a small price to pay for security. Though I am a little bit disappointed in the quality of the bag checks, I brought a small bag into MK last time we went and they just looked inside real quick. No shuffling of items was done at all, I could've had anything in there. I flat out told the man to that I didn't think that was an adequate check and told him to do it again. He was a little huffey with me, but I don't care. They need to be checking those bags! :veryconfu

They need to make a change somehow. When I was there last April, it was awful. I carried a purse with me, but since I was basiclly traveling with 3 teenage boys, I just gave purse to my mom and the 4 of us went ahead and she got it checked and we just met up with her inside the park and got it back. Those lines were so incredibly long. I think something like a metal detector like they have at airports stationed at the turnstils would be so much easier.

It would be nice if things could be changed. Although I am not a person who takes my luggage..but when travelling with young ones there are a few things you have to have at disney..like sunblock, handiwipes, etc.

since resort guests that ride buses don't get off the buses once they board. until they get to their destination...perhaps they could screen resort guests before boarding transportation and stamp their hands or something. I am sure there are issues with this that would have to be worked out..but hey, who wants to wait to have your bag searched once your at the park?

we did split our groop..one person w/bag, the other with the children, rent strollers, locker, use restrooms etc. works out alright. and I am willing to have the search although it doesnt really do much.

Personally, I think it's all just a big act. If the bad guy has to enter the park with something, he'll find a way. The whole thing only succeeds on ing off Guests who get there early to enjoy Early Entry and end up stuck in huge lines.

One probable reason for there not being Metal Dectors is each unit costs Big$$$$$$$$ and that kind of cash isnt available at present time second not all the contraband there loooking to keep out might not me made of metal and hand checking of bags if done properly can find things a dector cant find. Also if I'm not mistaken they have hand wands that are much cheaper and easer to use

Perhaps Disney may want to consider issuing a special pass like a color pass with a bar code to guests that stay on Disney property at the resorts, the guests are pre-screened, asked for ID, briefly and courteously checked and screened prior to leaving their resort for any visits to the kingdoms, in essense it becomes a personalized "Fastpass" and these guests bypass the screeners at the front of the parks. Groups could be escorted and by buss if neccessary when security is at higher levels.

Discretely done Disney could even charge a small fee for the priviledge, an extra benifit is priority Fastpass use, unlimited no wait times for the day.....:animwink:

WDW needs security dogs. Perhaps Pluto could sniff out the bad guys or maybe Goofy could be brought back into service.

I don't think metal detectors are a good idea unless they are handheld and not walk through. I don't want to have it go off for keys in my pocket, my belt, my watch, or anything else that might be metal such as a plate or screw in my body. I think metal detectors would take longer times than bag checks.

If you ask any seriously competent security agent they would tell you that you need to establish "Chain of command". what I mean is that if they check you at the resort then they would show you to a secure area where there would be no other contac with unscreened guests. and they would take you as a group to a bus just for the prescreened from that resort to your selected destination. and that is about how it would work.

several things I find that is more costly to disney than the out put of resources are worth

One you would need security personnel at every point of that trip. that could be as many a five just for one resort/ check point.

secondly the expence to fill that kind of staffing would be to costly for disney to even consider this kind of option

Having the checkpoints at the gates to the parks if a more effecent use of resources, just I would like to see them have a no bag line , small bags (like packs, purces), Backpacks and other large bags, That way some one that travles light wouldn't have to suffer behind a family with baby and stroller and small child for 15 min while they get checked out and you have a fany pack and what your wearing.

When I was there in late Nov. they were moving rather quickly. It was off season and they aren't really going to thoroughly check a red headed 14 year old. But I didn't have to wait in any extreme long lines or anything. Maybe I was just lucky but I don't know:hammer: . I do think this is probably one of the best ways to do it though. Cause with metal detectors you would have to take out everything and anything that is metal(coins, keys, belts, ect) I think that would take a lot longer IMO.

ya the metal detectors would just be a hassle. I personally like the lines as they are since i never go during peak season and only carry my little bag that the security people never even check since no one would suspect lil ol me to do anything. afterall im just 13:lookaroun
now watch disney security will be at my house in 5...4...3...2... oh look theres someone at the door now
