Seating Change At Sci-Fi Drive In

I'm traveling in August and have made reservations for the Sci-Fi Drive In Theater, I wanted to know if all the seating is "front and back seat: style or if there are any tables where you can sit across from one another and chat... just wondering, this might alter my plans.

There are old fashion cars that seat up to 6 people, as well as some picnic tables. I went there last year for the first time and loved it. The atmosphere in there was awsome. It is dark but each car has little lights above where your food sits. The cars headlight are lit and they play old sci-fi movies on a big screen which arent to great in my opnion but other than that, its a great place where you feel that Disney magic if you know what I mean. I thought the food was good too. I'm sure you will love it!! We are goin again in November, cant wait.

You should probably search the treads about this because there was a similar question a week or two ago and someone posted a picture of one of the very limited cars that was actually a table where you could sit across from each other. This is in addition to the picnic tables that they also have.

I would like to add though if you are looking for intimate conversation with a few people, the Sci-Fi is not the place for that. It really is about the theme of sitting at a drive-in movie theatre and having your food. Also don't expect to be wowed by the food or service here. In my opinion both the quality of the food and the service has gone down hill at the Sci-Fi. It's really too bad because it is a really fun place to eat.

One more thing, go for lunch. The menu of mostly burgers and sandwiches is not something you want to be wasting money on for dinner.

Sorry if I painted a grim picture. I just remember having a lot of fun and decent food there in years past (even as recent as 2005) and when we went last Fall I was very disappointed.

I'll second that emotion. Fun atmosphere (especially when it's busy and everyone's into it) decent burgers, tasty shakes, everything else, IMHO, is kinda meh and definitely not worth the dinner prices.

I'll third that and also add that their acholoic beverages with the glow cubes in them are not only tasty, but look really cool in the dark. :slurp:

I'll fourth it. The menu, both food-choice wise and price-wise, is not what it used to be. But it is still a fun place to eat.

The first time I ate there, we were seated at the picnic tables at the back. That was in 1995, when you could get a walk-up seating!! If memory serves, there were not many of those tables, maybe four. Perhaps they have increased in number over the years, I was never offered the opportunity to sit back there since that first time.

I like the Sci Fi alot too, but I've got to agree with what everyone else has said. It's a fun place to go, but it's the atmosphere that makes it special!

You're paying for atmosphere and not much else. It's too noisey from the SCI-FI trailers being played on the drive-in movie screen to hold a good conversation! Experience it once and then decide for yourself.

Burgers, rings, and shakes here. Burgers aren't on the dinner menu, but they will happily make one up for you (at the lunch price).

There are some cars that have just the front of the car and then are tables behind it...they are mostly on the back row but still have an excellent view of the screen. I believe you have to ask for these...we were seated right next to one on our last trip there and it seemed way more roomier than the car my son and I were sitting in...I would consider getting one on our next trip--hope this helps!!! We go here on every trip--we love the Sci Fi Dine In theater!!!

Back in 2005, we ate at the Sci-Fi as a walk-up. We were given the options for what type of table we wanted. The "regular table" cars had about 1/4 the wait of the bench-seating cars so obviously we went with that. :) (We were seated in about 15-20 minutes rather than 60-75) Not sure about in the back, but there's also a row of them across the middle of the room.
