Season Of The Force - Tomorrowland Overlay Opens November 16th

I've been here since 2005 and was very active until about 2010 when we stopped going to the parks. We were pretty burned out. Just like TP2000, I never did get a lot of my popularity likes because it didn't exist at that time. I've lurked around here and watched many of the comments posted here and also have wondered why so many people are so negative about Disneyland but seem to go all the time. Why go to a place you hate?

I think it comes from burn out. We had passes for about ten years straight. After a while, the kids saw going to Disneyland as a punishment. They didn't want to go anymore even though my wife and I loved it. We took a break for five years and now they all want to go again. Everything they see is brand new and they are very excited to experience SOTF.

I'm not sure what people around here are expecting from SOTF beyond a temporary movie promotion. I've seen a lot of the Launch Bay stuff at Comic Con and other conventions this year so it would be kind of fun to see it again. Hyperspace Mountain is what I expected given our Ghost Galaxy overlay. I just wish they would keep using the projectors during regular Space Mountain like they did when it first opened. Would I like to see Tomorrowland remodeled? Sure but special promotions like this are fun diversion and welcome too. I think as soon as they have the capacity that SWL will offer, Tomorrowland will shut down for a revamp. They can't give us a great big beautiful Tomorrowland without SWL first. Losing a little bit of unused land at the back of the park is worth it.

I think its going to be a fun few years watching SWL being built and then hopefully a new Tomorrowland and I'm looking forward to it.

The question is completely valid. I personally find it baffling when people willingly shell out hundreds of dollars to Disney, spend unimaginable hours experiencing it, researching it, and talking about it, and then proclaim in a Disney discussion board that they hate it. Sorry, but that makes no sense at all.

I find it baffling you can't grasp the concept that if you don't proclaim love 100% of the time it means you hate the product. I really like the vast majority of Disney's product, but that doesn't mean I won't give my opinion when I disagree.

Time to move on. I'll give my opinion on Season of the Force after I see it in person.

A frequent poster here said that they "hate Disney" right here in this thread. That's what I'm referring to.

Aren't we all doing that?

He isn't saying that there should be 100% love but there shouldn't 100% hate either. Find both good and bad in something and offer alternatives for it.

A couple of posts have referred to this as a temporary offering. How temporary is it though really? My guess is that everything runs through at least Spring Break 2016, if not longer. When Season of the Force officially does end the signs and banners come down, the pun food items go away and the clip show leaves to be replaced by another movie preview. Also it is likely Hyperspace Mountain reverts back to regular Space Mountain or they run it until it converts to Ghost Galaxy. The Star Tours scene stays, Jedi Academy remains, and it is very likely Launch Bay stays for the foreseeable future. Side note, props to Endor for calling it the Launch Bay of Progress. With so many attractions down in 2016, they will need the capacity and so I imagine the meet and greet/prop gallery stays for a long time.

I would argue that the majority of this is not a temporary offering unless you define temporary as 3-4 years.

I think he was joking. If you hate Disney them they probably wouldn't waste their time on this board. If you can look at previous post of the poster you can see they like Disney but not their recent choices. That's fine cause Disney has been making stupid choices lately. The point the other poster was making is that lately newer posters are getting upset people are complaining. If you don't want no complaining then the DIS board is for you:

Wow, the Galactic Grill menu looks great. I find it very interesting how much Disneyland has upped their food game over the last five years. Especially the "quick service" and casual places, the food at Disneyland has really improved compared to 15 years ago.

The Galactic Grill food is awful, as Tomorrowland Terrace food has always been. Our group sampled all the new offerings this weekend and they range from just edible to garbage.

I feel like great strides were made in food over the past 5 years or so and they're quickly coming undone at many locations. I don't like the new trends for foods at the resort overall, with a few bright spots remaining. We still far outshine WDW's dismal counter service offerings though.

I had a better experience with the Galactic Grill (and Pizza Port too) The Dark Side burger was good. It could use a bit more chorizo in the beef. And the Darth Maul eclair was delicious. I loved the Forest of Endor pasta mixed with different veggies, that was great. The Chewbacca cheesecake was very creamy. The Dark Side Chicken Curry Pizza was OK, but I don't need to try it again.

No. Your post had a condemning tone to it. Your approach wasn't nice, at all, and then you insulted annual passholders who bring up concerns. It didn't seem like you were genuinely curious about why Endor wasn't feeling the offerings. You didn't ask in a nice way, it was almost an attack. If you had said something like "Hey, End or, just curious, why don't you like the new offerings," I wouldn't have bothered asking the question I asked. But you were rude about it.

There's a way of going about things. I also am not digging these new offerings so far. The majority of people are, but you don't see me coming at those who are liking what they see and being demeaning towards them. Everyone has different opinions and everyone deserves respect.

End or has been regularly posting in the DL forum for at least a year now. He doesn't always agree with every decision made for Disneyland, and he has strong opinions, but we've never condemned him for that. You, on the other hand, along with a few others here, have recently joined us in discussion, which is fine, but your manner in going about actual discussion isn't always polite. All I'm saying is everyone has different opinions, and they should be respected, not condemned.

That's all I have left to say.

You're clearly A LOT more offended than he is. @Endor Sightseer probably couldn't possibly care any less about what I said. Again, this is an internet forum. If you're taking such great offense to the way people say things on here you're probably better off staying away, the internet is dangerous for those who have soft emotions.

Look I think the dude complains a lot. So what? I said what I said because I found it true and he didn't even bat an eye. Clearly this isn't an issue.

And boy... if you think I'm big, bad, mean and nasty, you should check out some of the other guys on here! They'll really give you a show. But if it makes you happy maybe I'll consider double checking my great big book of internet etiquette next time I post something.

I pray to the Imagineering gods that a Tomorrowland refurb will happen.
Though I wonder what kind of future will be represented with a remodel. My vote goes towards a Tron-esque digital future.
The only thing I'm worried about is that by the time a refurb does happen will it actually be so crowded that it's not worth it to shut down a whole land for a few years. Especially if they do something with the PeopleMover track

That already happened a couple years ago. Any meaningful reburbishment of Tomorrowland will be very difficult to pull off logistically.

True, and one can only imagine how bad it's going to be after SWL opens. I guess they would have to do very awkward but carefully planned phase bull crap to pull it off?

He probably was, but why can't someone call it out? He certainly has every opportunity to explain what he meant without me being chastised by others in the conversation. As others have said, isn't that partially what discussion boards are for - to discuss differing opinions?

How did they manage TL's closure the last time they remodeled it?

It was mostly closed and behind construction walls. It was ugly.

A few key E Ticket attractions remained open via narrow walled-in walkways that often led to the exit where bizarre "backstage" corridors would eventually lead you to the interior queue. It was not only ugly, but confusing.

If (a big IF) Tomorrowland ever gets a full land refurbishment to save itself from the current humiliation, they should probably try and do a full land closure like they did during the first land remodel in 1966-67.

Except for the Columbia Harbor House. Nothing at DL can touch the Lighthouse Sandwich.

Not as ugly as it was after the walls came down, in my opinion. At least when it was under construction, there was the promise of something good coming from it!

I did Hyperspace Mountain tonight. We all commented that it was too bright in the ride, you know, like where you can see the track and such. I personally wasn't that impressed. I liked certain aspects of it. I thought the arrangement of the Williams music was good. I thought the TIE Fighter above the little drop was cool. The projections disappointed me. I actually expected that stuff to look better. I was a bit shocked b7 how kinda crappy it looked. The Ghost Galaxy effects look much better. But it's Space. Got on it in 20 minutes. CMs are expecting a 4 hour wait tomorrow. Do not get in that line.

I wonder had Tomorrowland 2055 been built from the attractions that would have debuted from it (Specially Alien Encounter) would still be operating to this day. And what we'd all think of the design of 2055 now.

I don't think it's out of the question. DCA was a maze of walls for years while it was rebuilt. You could shut down all of tomorrowland and use a backstage route from Main Street around the side of Space Mountain to keep that ride open. Everything else could be closed.

I think it would be really successful. At least we would have a real AA show in the America Sings building instead of Best Buy / Museum exhibit.

How many people visiting DL are unfamiliar with SW? I'm guessing not very many.

There is a difference between knowing of... and being familiar. I was hanging out with a friend on Friday whose lived in the US for a decade plus.. and is Canadian.. so it's not like he's from the backwoods. He didn't realize my area was the heartland of Civil War activities... or really the genesis of the war itself. He know Gettysburg was 'a big deal' - but had no idea what it really about or what the Gettysburg address was beyond knowing the name. And he lives like 25mins from it.

Everyone knows of Star Wars.. and knows its a big deal. They know of key iconic things.. but familiar with it? Whole different ball of wax.
