Sears Auto put on wrong tires!

Ok. My Pontiac Vibe needed new tires - badly. I went to my local Sears Auto center and picked out the new Goodyear assurance tires with the Tripletread technology.

They put the tires on, and I took the car home right away in the middle of a monsoon-like rain, where I enjoyed tearing through big puddles in the sears parking lot. The car rides better and is much quieter. I didn't get much of a chance to look at them since that day, as I dropped the car off at my wife's work and took my other car to work that day. Since then I've only seen the car at night, as my wife leaves early in the morning and I don't get home until about 11 pm night.

However, I looked at the tire today, and instead of seeing the "tripletread" logo, I see the "Comfortread" logo. These aren't the tires I asked to be put on - but now I'm torn. I really do like these tires, and they retail for $10 more a tire than the triple tread. The wet weather driving was excellent in them, so I don't know if it's worth it to bring it up to have the other tire put on. The ride is so much improved and quieter, that I'm thinking about just shutting up about it.

Thoughts?

It may be they didn't have what you asked for and upgraded you to the next higher value. I've known Sears to do similar in the past [though they did tell me they were going to do so].

If they work and if you like 'em, then you like 'em. I say keep these tires.

Regarding all the regret, "The Road Not Taken" leaps to mind, for me at least.

The Comfortread is a part of the Assurance line.

Meh, I'd take em back though. I have the tripletreads on the caddy... and they are GREAT!! Gotta love that 80k wear warranty!!

The tripletreads have a more aggressive looking stance and tread pattern... which is great for the Vibe. The comfortreads are more for Buick, Lexus and mini vans. Standard sedans and family type vehicles like that... thats what the comfortreads are made for.

I say go back and swap them out for the triples... you WONT be dissapointed. The caddy rides smoother... and I can take on/off ramps at 60mph if I need to. They handle that well!

well the comfortreads have the 80k warranty also, so not a big deal that way....I'm basically going to give up a little bit of ride comfort for a small increase in weather handling.

I do like the tread pattern on the tripletread though. The reason I thought about keeping the comfortread is that the vibe's cabin is noisy for a passenger car, and it has been much improved since the comfortreads went on. I do really like the tires, and almost wish I hadn't caught the error. I know I'm saving $40 if I leave these tires on.

I dont know what the road noise levels are like with the comfortreads. I know its minimal with the tripletreads. So I cannot compare the two.

I HAD the Goodyear Eagle RS-A tires on the car previously. And those were noisy as hell.. and sloppy.. I did not like them. They sucked as a high performance tire. But the diff w/ road noise (between the two) with the tripletreads was night and day. Much better.

They rock in the snow to!

Yeah, I had the RS-A's on the vibe as well, and they were probably the worst tires I've ever had on a vehicle. (And I have some no name POS's on my sunfire right now).

I think I'll be sticking with what is on there. My wife and I talked about it and figure it's not worth swapping them out. They are reviewed and rated to be very reliable in all conditions (snow included).

Cool... yeah... you really cannot go wrong with either of the Assurance tires. They are both very awesome.. and highly rated! *thumbs* :sohappy:
