Hey everyone,

I'm trying to plan my trip for June and I wanted to know if I have to pre-book the sea racyers or do I just do it at POP when I get there?

Thanks :)

I would do it ahead of time. I think i read somewhere that you can do it 60 days in advance but of course, I can't find where I saw that now. But yes, I would call ahead.

Someone can jump in and correct me here, but I think it's:

Disney Recreation (407) WDW-PLAY (939-7529)

I actually just got off the phone with someone from the above number and they told me I can't reserve them ahead of time and I just have to go to the marina and hope that they have some available. Is this true? What have others done in the past?

I've never heard of people reserving the small sea raycers before. It's pretty much a first-come, first-served kind of thing.

The nice thing about renting on Bay Lake or Seven Seas Lagoon is that if the marina you go to happens to be out of boats, another hotel that does have them is just a short boat or monorail ride away. (I'm sure that the marina CM can call the other locations to make sure they have boats available before you head to one)

The only boats I've heard of reservations for are the specialty cruises.

You should be okay as far as availability. I have rented them at the busiest of times and they have never not had any. We usually rent them at the WL and then have lunch at whispering canyon afterwards. Great fun. :)

They are rarely all out for rental, except during the most busy times

Even if they are all out, most people rent for 30 to 45 minutes - maybe an hour. There is a good chance that if all of them are out, one will be comming back in soon.

Thanks for the help :)

Another question, am I allowed to bring a small bag on board? When I mean small, i mean like a pouch.

Also, can you wear whatever you like on the boat such as flip flops or do they ask that you wear water shoes?

Sorry...these questions may be dumb but its my first time using the sea raycers :D

Thanks again :)

Flip flops should not be a problem. The only thing you're required to wear is a life jacket (which they will give you).

We didn't bring food when we rented one, but we did bring a camera. And there was no problem with that.

Wear whatever you want, and a bag is fine, too. I brought a backpack on with me. As said above, they will make you put on the life jacket.

If you rent the larger boats (not really much more expensive AT ALL), they make you take it the life jacket, but not wear it.

You can wear flip flops

You can bring a bag - but there is no place to store it. It will be under your feet or next to you on the seat

You are not supposed to take pictures. Why, I don't know. I remember seeing it in the rules you sign.

I've "heard" that there was a lot of people stopping on the waterways to take pictures which cause chaos i guess on the water? I dunno...that's just what I was told.

Another question, do you get wet at all? I know...silly question lol I would just plan to wear something that I don't mind getting wet that's all.

You do get sprayed quite a bit when in the sea raycers, and depending on the wind/weather/waves, it can be the same in the larger boats.

Most answers have already been given, but just thought I'd give my $0.02.

The Sea Raycers can only be rented at a resort, at the time of rental. No reservations for them (other boats...pontoon, fishing, sail, etc. don't require reservations but it's not a bad idea to do so...). The Raycers are on a first-come first-serve basis but I have been at he Poly and Grand Flo at the busiest times of the year and have never had to wait (the resorts usually have 20 or so Raycers at each resort and most folks only rent for 30 minutes). The only thing that you must wear (other than some sort of clothing so you are not nude:ROFLOL:) is the life-vest that is provided by the resort. Sneakers, flip flops, barefeet...etc are all fine. I believe the minimum age to rent is 18. You can also bring a "bag" if you'd like. If it's sunny wear plenty of sunscreen. Although there is a posted weight limit in the Raycer, you can only have two people. So if you had two small children with you and you did not exceed the weight limit of the craft you still can only take one child at a time. If it's a windy day you might get a little "spray" if you hit a wave correctly but in general you will not get wet. Pay close attention to posted signs and rules (if you are not a boater, don't worry the rules are simple). Disney has several water patrols at all times out there on the Lagoon and Lake....they will stop you if you violate a rule and may "guide" you back to your resort. Areas to pay special attention to are through the channel at The Contemp (under the monorail), near the old Treasure Island, and on the far side of Bay Lake (past Fort Wilderness) which is typically set up for water skiing. Otherwise lean forward as much as you can so the Raycer planes off and keep as much weight in the center of the craft so you can get maximum speed !!
