Screw-ups during live shows?

The only thing I can think of is a very small thing from Fantasmic. In the Pocahantas scene( I think) where the guys climb u the rock, but are shot down, when the guy on the left got shot, he fell, but you could clearly see him bounce back into view when he hit the airbag. He bounced, got his balance, and you could barely see him walk backstage. Not big, I know. It just looked funny becuase you couldnt see the airbag...just a guy bouncing up from nowhere. =)

biggest fantasmic malfunction i have ever seen was when they could not get the dragon to fold back up into the mountain. so as the boat came out the pumped a huge load of smoke to cover it up. and at the end of the show mikey had to walk out instead of pop out of the ground to say "some imagintaion ".

I WAS THERE FOR THAT SHOW!!! I remember seeing the dragon when the boat began spinning fireworks on the side and all of a sudden it was like so much smoke you couldn't see Sorc. Mickey and when he magically appears after there was like the three music beats, spotlight, no mickey. So I was about to say "where's mickey?" and he comes bolting into the light from offstage and slids in just in time to say his line and laugh. I thought that was the best thing EVER

When the Lion King Broadway show premiered at the local theater, Simba nearly killed himself. In the "I can't wait to be King" musical segment Simba and Nala come out riding tall puppet Ostriches, from a rising curtain. But the curtain didn't raise in time, so it hit the feathers of the Ostrich, which pulvarized Simba in the face, and he fell off! Those Ostrich puppets are pretty tall and off the ground too. So Simba limped throught he rest of the number until the wierd crazy colored curtain came down. The poor actor who played Zazu had to put on a small comical routine comenting that the crazy looking stage curtain looked like a shower curtain from K-Mart. Finally, he ran off the stage and comicly hit is head against the side of the stage and finally running off. The show paused for a long time before they could get another actor to play simba all ready.
i think the K-mart line is part of the show...... i saw it 2 weeks ago and it was in there.

the screw up that i saw in that show in Bham was when the actor runs the blue fabric (the one that fish are projected onto) across the stage to set up this scene, it was caught on something, and running full speed, pole and fabric over head, you saw the fabric go from flowy and wavy to extra tight....... then the actors arms went way back behind it neck, and his body got parrallel to the ground before landing on his back.......... i dont know how he got up. and tough fabric too to withstand that. :sohappy:

These three events happend while I was on CP, never witnessed them in person though.

1)Indiana Jones fell from a zipline or something of that sort, and he had to be rushed to the hospital by helicopter.

2)Mickey fell off the mountain top of Fantasmic, which isnt too bad b/c it's not like he fell 4 stories but far enough lol.

3)This one is true definitely b/c I was there in my office when we got a call from some friends in Animal Kingdom. Since Florida is mother of all Lightning storms..one of the giraffes was unlucky during one of the storms. It was eating from a tree and the lightning struck it in it's head making it explode. (The exploding part could be exagerrated but it is what they told us on the phone) This was back in 03.

Yes, that happened in early 2003. To be more specific, the techs hit the button for the trap door a second too early, Indiana (I think the stuntman's name was Trey, or Troy...I don't remember) was still tightening his carabeaner (sp?) and he fell 30 feet. But he wasn't taken off by helicopter. Guests were escorted out, cast members asked for any video tape anyone had, and EMTs came out. He was assisted while there were no guests to watch.
Update: 6 months after his fall, he came back to work as one of the stuntmen in black. About 2 months later, he was back in the fedora.

2)Mickey fell off the mountain top of Fantasmic, which isnt too bad b/c it's not like he fell 4 stories but far enough lol.
You have no idea how dangerous that can be. Mickey falling could stop the show. And you're right- it's not 4 stories. It's about 2

Um...that's gotta be a stretch. That DID happen, but in DAK's first year, which means NOT 2003. The keepers didn't realize how close a storm was, and didn't round up all the animals in time. There was footage from a guest riding Kilimangaro Safaris, but I think it was confiscated.

I remember that one! I was on my second CP at the time (early '03).

MousePad member Davidscot witnessed an accident at the Indiana Jones Stunt Spectacular on Saturday, March 15. He said, "During the part where Indy hangs from a tow line, for some reason, the line snagged sending him into the air. He landed on the pavement on his neck. He didn't move and many people rushed around him and immediately put up a barrier so the audience couldn't see him."

Another MousePad member watched as the actor, Kyle McDuffie, was transported to a local hospital by helicopter. According to the Orlando Sentinel McDuffie was treated for injuries to his head and shoulders. Theme Park Insider reports that the actor is in critical condition, but that his injuries are not life-threatening. A Disney spokesman said that the "equipment was functioning properly," and that Disney is evaluating the cause of the accident.

Actually, it did happen in 2003. I remember that because I had recently moved back home from my second college program, so it was summer 2003.

But Mickey is strapped in up there. Or maybe this happened on the way up or before they had that??

I know the DAK one is true b/c it happened the day I moved out of my appartment for my first college program and that was may of 2003.

At DL Fantasmic, we were watching the scene with the Columbia (the large masted ship for those who don't know). At one point, a pirate swings from one mast around the ship to the front -- in this show, he kept going with a large splash as he went into the river.

The show was stopped for the evening -- "We're sorry ladies and gentlemen..." (Safety trumps Show). The CM was seen waving to the crowd after they fished him out (so he was presumably wet but OK).

Umm. No. From the WDW magic main site. "The mountain stands approximately 57.5 feet above the water." That’s far more than 2 stories, in fact its more than 4 stories. And I highly doubt Mickey ever fell from the top of the mountain. He is safely attached to a device to raise and lower him, and if he did fall it would be all over the news as he would have been severely injured if not killed. My guess is this is a CM story that got mixed up a bit. Mickey has fallen down the stairs on the mountain before, most likely that story got twisted into the mouse falling from the top of the mountain.

I was waiting for a source of reason to step in. I would have said it myself, but I wanted to avoid someone pulling the "my (insert name of person you know who knows a person) was there the night it happened, or something of the sort.

Fantasmic

I was at MGM Thursday 6th October, Fantasmic did go ahead after some rather bad weather. The canoes during the Pocahontas segment collided - Thats the first time I'd seen any problems during a live performance.

Thankfully they managed to sort themselves out and get back behind the scenes!
