To be totally honest, I don't think the food at either one is spectacular, but IMO Sci Fi is better. The ambiance is really cool with the drive-in cars where you eat and the monster movies playing...great photo ops. 50s Prime Time isn't my cup of tea...I don't appreciate someone (especially a stranger) telling me to finish my carrots.

I agree with DisneyPrincess5. Sci-Fi is a great place. You'll just laugh at the film clips as you view them. The food isn't too bad, but I think the whole idea of the restaurant makes it a little better. I eat there each time I visit the World.

I've got my ADR for Sci Fi. The last time I was there was in 1996 when it was just me and my new Hubby! This time, we have 2 kids who will love it. When I asked them if they wanted to try 50's prime time, the 10 year old said he can't keep his elbows off the table, and the 5 yr old said she has a hard time finishing all of her veggies sometimes. :ROFLOL: To be honest, when they answered me, they sounded kind of scared to go. For us, it's an atmosphere thing, more than a food thing.

Heading for the great escape.
Having been a fan for years I have to say the food at the SciFi was very average this year. It didnt even come up to chain restaurant standards. Though its still a great fun location.

Personally, i'm not a fan of either. I've heard the burgers are sci fi are great but mine was sub par at best. If you like Sci Fi - then that's the way to go. I'm not a big fan so the theme turned me off. With 50's, food is home cooking and the theme is more interactive. If I had to choose - i'd go 50's.

While we have enjoyed both in the past, if I had to choose just one to eat at, I would have to go with 50's Prime Time. IMO the food here is better than the Sci-Fi, but we enjoyed the theme at both.

I WANT to like 50s, but have been three times and have been disappointed by the food each time. The last time I ordered the meatloaf and I couldn't even eat it. Desserts have always been good, and I like the bar in the waiting room, though.

On our last trip, we tried Sci Fi and really enjoyed it. The food was good - nothing spectacular - but we were on the dining plan and our kids loved that they could get milkshakes for both their drinks and their desserts. I had the pasta with shrimp and loved it.

The atmosphere was great, too, and surprisingly one of the quietest restaurants we've experienced. I think the kids are too busy watching the movie clips, plus the darkness and sitting side-by-side seem to also discourage a lot of talking.

I've eaten at both 1 time each... I won't return to either one:(
Both were disapointing...Pizza or chicken tenders for me

Definitely the Prime Time!

I love the Sci Fi, but I return to Prime Time every trip my family and I take to WDW.
I highly suggest the onion rings, meatloaf, and milk shakes! Major yum!

This is such a tough choice for me. I love the food at 50s (I dream of the pot roast) and I love the atmosphere. It's not for everyone, but I love playing around with the CMs there.

Sci Fi is great fun too, I love old B movies, but the food is not that wonderful IMO. I went with my nephew this year and, while we had fun, we were both disappointed in our meals.

I have to vote for Sci-Fi. I love that place.. The good is good and the atmosphere is really fun. Prime Time has a great atmosphere but I think the food at Sci Fi is better. Actually the last time I ate at Prime Time which was about a year ago I got sick , I have not be back there since and I probably wont go back.

As someone who grew up in the 50's/60's, I love both of them. IMO, though, the food at the Prime Time is much better. Out strategy is to go to the SciFi for a light lunch or dessert and go to Prime Time for a good dinner. That's the best of both worlds.

We went to both this past December. We had been to the Sci-Fi before and loved it. This time the food was just ok and the service was nonexistent. The atmosphere is great.

The 50's was a disaster. We waited over 2 hours to be seated (with ADRs), then waited over 30 minutes to get our food. The fried chicken was soggy, tasteless (I'm being kind) and cold, the mashed potatoes were dull, gray in appearance and cold and the hot dog was cold. The only hot thing was my son's mac & cheese and that was so hot he couldn't even eat it. Our server was absent.

I'm hoping this was just a really bad night. The manager was fabulous and comped the meal, he even offered to buy us another dinner to try them again, but I just couldn't take a chance on it. The whole dinner took up all of our extra magic hours.

So, in the past I would've rated Sci-fi an A-, this time B-/C. 50's was an F, except an A for an outstanding manager. We likely won't plan any future meals at DHS unless it's the Backlot for burgers, or Pizza Planet.

If you're using the DDP I wouldn't go to either. Way better options for using the credits. If your paying out of pocket 50's would get my vote due to the CM interaction. The food is nothing to compare at either place.
