For atmosphere Sci-fi gets a 10. The set up is just too cool for words.

For food it get about a 6-7. The food is not inedible by any means, but there is nothing all that great. It is about on par with a quick service location in terms of food quality.
I agree with that, although would put it slightly up from a counter service for food quality. I'm thinking more along the lines of a Chilis. Overall though, it is well worth a visit for the experience. Just don't expect great food.

The Burgers are good and I really enjoy the Reuben. I also enjoy the flavor of the Oreo milk shake. And if you get a soda your kid might like the light up ice cube if you want to spring for it. The Drive In motif is a wonderful theme, ( Most kids will think ... Whats a drive in? ) thats unique, something to remember.

Burgers and Shakes at Sci-fi are pretty good. But Im sure you will love! I first went when I was little, loved it! and 10 years later, it is still one of my favorites. The atmosphere is truly amazing. You will have a wonderful time, even if you only do it once.

I think they have good burgers. I am not a bit fan of the Disney burgers that you get at the counter service but the Sci-Fi ones are thick patties and are tasty. I would stick to those, the other food is so so.
We found this to be true at Liberty Tree Tavern as well, my mom was scared to order it because she didn't like quick service burgers but she loved the table service burgers!

*Cant speak for Sci-Fi because I've never been, but it is on the to do list :)

My OH and I love the Sci Fi!!! It's the only ADR we have for our Sept trip! The theming is great, it is unusually quite there, the movie clips are interesting and we enjoyed our Picnic Burgers! No complaints from us!

Ate there once and the food was below average by Disney standards (loved the milkshake though). The place is very cool, however. We are eating there again next month. It's definetly worth trying at least once. Have fun

I have found the Sci-Fi Dine In to be a good time and a great meal.
Not gourmet food, but not McDonald's quality either.

The setting is unique...well worth experiencing. The food is not so unique, but there are a few nice surprises ( the pasta dish being one..).
Definately recommend if you have kids...they will love the atmosphere and the kids menu.

Happy Dining !

Everything is really good. It's like a step up from a quick service location. I think what you're really paying for though is the atmosphere. The burgers are probably the same burgers that are used at the quick service locations around the park.

Sci Fi is awesome fun -- and the burgers are much better and only a little more expensive then ABC Commissary right next door -- if you go at 11:00 for lunch, you don't even need advance reservations -- they'll get you right in -- it is SO much better than any of the quick service options at DHS. I don't know who told you it was "awful" but it is a far far cry from being that -- and the theming is probably the best at DHS

We have eaten there twice. The first time we had a less-than-stellar experience, but we gave it another shot a couple of years ago and the food was much better. I do think they do basic food like burgers the best so I would stick with something simple.

My DH and I went on our last trip and yes, it's not gourmet cuisine, but the food is perfectly fine. I had the Reuben and very much enjoyed it. Of course, the big draw is the setting and experience as a whole. Solely for that, it's a must do in DHS in my opinion. We've made an ADR for it for our upcoming trip, and we can't wait to go back!

Love a little Disney every day!! ;)
Me and the hubby always enjoy it and book it every trip. I love the Chicken or Shrimp pasta, and everything my hubby tried he has liked esp the Oreo shake!! He's in love with it! Lol :)

Have ADR for Sci Fi Dine in for my 6-year-old more than anything else. My DH and I are not foodies, so anything we eat will be just fine. She is excited about sitting in a car to eat. That's really all she needs. However, I've heard twice now that it's awful. What about it is bad? If you've been, would you go again?
I love Sci-Fi...like to go every trip...and you can't go wrong with a cheese burger and shake.

DH and I ate there last year in May. I got a veggie burger and it may have been the worst one I ever had (raised a vegetarian). Like everyone else said, the atmosphere is cool (ESP for kids) but our car was very sticky and the service reminded me of a local fast food chain (not like the wonderful service we usually get at Disney). DH loved it, but every experience is different so its worth a try! I hope you have a fantastic trip!!

My family had a just okay experience there. The food was average and the service was super slow (It was crowded and rainy that day, so I give them some slack), but on the other hand our waitress seemed very apologetic about it and kind. The theme was fun, I do admit. It's a convenient place because it isn't too expensive (But overpriced for me lol) and isn't as bad as the other restaurants in HS. It wasn't the culinary highlight of the trip, or even the day, but it was good enough. It's worth going to at least once.

I agree, just a Chili's with eight menu items instead of 80... ;)

I've been a few times and I've enjoyed it and considering there are only a couple places in Hollywood Studios I would return to at all I guess it even puts Sci Fi in my top two or three restaurants! I think it is one of those places where if you are interested in the theme and you aren't expecting spectacular food you'll like it just fine.
