Evil place?!? The funny thing is once you leave you'll only want to go back. Senior year for me was the best year of my life. I had a blast! I wish I could go back and relive it. Don't wish the year away DJ. Enjoy the moment because it will be over before you know it. :)

Just some Senior advice. :D

Well......thanx for the advice DF. I realize most of you had a great time in high school and you all wish you were back there.......but I seriously dont enjoy it. Contrary to popular belief:rolleyes: I'm not outgoing or popular or funny. I'm the quiet kid. I do great as far as grades go but socializing isnt my department.........aside from uhh lets see 2 friends I think.....school isnt a blast for me. It's working hard now so that I can get somewhere and enjoy my life later....Thats just how I view things.

DisJosh-

I'm not telling you high school is the best time of your life...far from it. I think DF liked high school more than I did (also class of '89), because I hated it. So what do I do? I enlist.

The point is, whether you love it or not, life's too short to waste it looking for what might come next. Live the moment. You have two good friends? That's a blessing. Spend time with those two good friends. Make your last year memorable. Don't get arrested. (Sorry, I had to slip that in there). The bottom line is, even if you don't like where you are, it's home for you. You know the people there. You know your way around. You'll be going to a school next fall in a strange place surrounded by people you don't know--exciting, yes, but a daunting task at times. My email box is full of messages from my students who are starting this fall--they are nervous about making new friends, finding their way around, choosing their classes, understanding the material....they are both thrilled and anxious, knowing that they have left behind what they knew. The email I received yesterday was from the quiet kid, the boy who knew the answers, sometimes felt motivated enough to finish his homework, wrote beautifully when he took his time, and couldn't wait to leave high school. He's nervous now, not sure if he fits in in the new school he chose....not sure if he figured out how to read the syllabus correctly.

He'll be okay. But he told me he remembers me telling the class it would be over before they knew it, and he's glad he took the time to enjoy what he had.

End of sermon.

Yikes. I've taught young men under house arrest who wore ankle monitoring devices.... As he said, "I'm just a kid--I didn't know I could get in *THAT* much trouble..."

Obviously it wasn't school itself per say that I had a blast with (but I did have all the courses I needed to have done Junior year so Senior year was all electives) but it was the time spent with friends outside of school, my teammates from football and track along with the games and meets, the dances, the parties, the almost getting arrested (I got away :D ),my car (57 Chevy black with flames), V-show, concert choir (just call me Peter Brady, kidding), homecoming, turnabout, Prom.....you name it, I did it.

The teachers were great, the coaches were great, parents were great.....everything just seemed to fall into place.

You don't have to actually enjoy school to enjoy your Senior year. Relax, let loose and have fun because from here on out it gets a little more serious. :)

Hey Disjosh...

Happy trails...have fun...and remember the COP song..."now is the time, now is the best time, now is the best time of your life."

I won't tell you about my high school years cuz I don't want to be responsible for you ending up as someone's buttboy in the State Penitentiary.

Good Luck, my young friend.

Well I started my Senior Year as well today, and boy... if the first day is any indication of what the rest of the year is gonna be like, I'm going to have a hell of a good time. My entire morning is wood shop/technology classes, my afternoon is history & physics.

Its so weird being a senior... it hasn't quite set in yet. People were calling us (my class) seniors, and I was like "Hey, that's me!!". Any way, the best part is being able to walk in front of people, bump into them, and push them around... and they really can't do anything. Plus I just love threatening freshmen... and reminding them who is the boss around the school!! And of course, driving to school in my Jeep Wrangler! I can't wait until winter comes and I get to laugh at the shmucks in there little Toyotas and souped up Honda's... sliding all around the parking lot. I'll probably be draging their out of snow banks (charging them before I do it of course!).

I am going to enjoy this year to its fullest. That includes having fun, do that I'm not supposed to do, getting drunk, and me and my friends are determined to leave a legacy for generations to come!! We have to do something that will get us remembered... I'll let you guys know what we do (something very mischief, no doubt). Anyway, I think for the first time in my life, I am actually excited about school and I actually want to go.

Guys, it could be worse!! Tomorrow is my husband's birthday, and while he was growing up, he frequently had to start school instead of celebrating!

Also, my daughter turns 18 this month, and her birthday is the same day as a mandatory "senior retreat." She doesn't have any choice in roomates; they just get thrown together to try to have different people "bond." Last time she did it, it just reinforced her dislike of a certain person.

DisJosh, I still have nightmares about that school...not being able to get from Chemistry to Art in time! (Unless things have changed, they were at opposite ends of building)

FYI, DisJosh attends the same HS I attended decades ago....some of my classmates are teachers now, but I won't share stories about them with him. ;)

Just be careful who you push around...some of these nerds will, someday, be the guys you have to pay to make you feel better or to get you out of trouble.

Good Luck...
