scary rides

We took our then 3-year old on HM. We had been on it countless times. We knew what our son liked, disliked, what set him off, etc. Considering we knew what the experience was like and knowing what his threshold is, we really thought he'd enjoy it. Well, he didn't cry or freak out ... or really was even all that terrified. But he did not like it at all. We learned that sometimes you just don't know.

EPCOT: Rio Del Tiempo
Fantasyland: It's a Small World

In that order... :lookaroun

I must disagree. It's a Small World is much scarier than Rio Del Tiempo.
All those little people just singing and singing and singing. You know there
are subliminal messages in their song. :lookaround:

i know it is easier said then done...... but the only way to tell is to ride everything once and judge for yourself. wouldnt you hate to not ride something and then years later you finally got the nerve and realized you like it and have missed out for so long........ trust me, just try it. it wont kill you

:D

That's exactly what I tell my girlfriend. She would never get on Big Thunder Mountain (it scared her as a kid) until one time, I basically had to drag her on. She loved it. Now that's the first ride we get on at MK (we get a fastpass for SM, and then go wait for BTM). This April she's gonna try EE, but I still can't get her to ride Rockin rollercoaster

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHH "its a small world" make it stop make it stop thAT HOW IT WAS FOR ME THAT RIDE WILL HAUNT ME FOREVER IM NOT EVEN LYING THAT IS HORRIBLE plus we got stuck at the end for 30 min ahhhhhhhhhhhhh it hurts thinking about it:dazzle: :dazzle:

Sometimes I wonder if I'm the only one in the world who LOVES it's a small world...

It's one of my favorites.:lookaroun

I'm not a roller coaster fan. There are only two rides that I won't go on, but have tried them both. RnRC ( I don't like the idea of flipping over:eek: ) and Mission: Space. I've decided that I don't want to do it this year. I'm fine up until the end and then I get a little queasy. Nothing that lasts all day or anything. I just don't like that feeling. I think you should try everything and whatever you don't like, just don't do it again. Above all else HAVE FUN!!!!

My only complaint about Dinosaur is how jarring it is. If your hips are wider than a pre-pubescent boy, you might be uncomfortable. :lookaroun

Other than that, I can tell you that my 49-year-old mother got motion sickness on Mission:Space, my 3-year-old niece refused to ride the Teacups, and we always wait in line for Splash Mountain, no matter how long the wait, because it's so phenomenal. It's worth experiencing the fear...

Well have ridden every ride in all parks. Only time I have been truly scared was in Dinosaur. I don't like things juming out at me. Eveyone else is right though, it depends on what scares ya. If you grab a Birnbaum's guide they give info on all the rides and what may scare small children as well as adults.

It does not always depend on age. Ha ha there are little 8 year old children who are not afraid to go on those roller coasters with those huge drops and I am 28 years old and I am scared to death of those rollar coasters :o

I do like space mountain but that is just fast and does not have any huge drops. But it is dark and the drops are quick and you don't know when the drops are coming ( well I do because I have been on that ride so many times lol ) ect. > So I guess it really depends on the person.

By the way Laura22 I love it's a small world as well. Laura22 on the year that you where born well that was the same year that I went on Space Mountain for the first time ever. That ride scared me to death but I was only 4 years old and back then those little drops seemed huge. But there is a big difference between a 4 year old and an 8 year old going on space mountain. I don't know if they still let 4 year olds on that ride, but back then if you where tall enough ( and most 4 year olds where not tall enough ) then they would let you on even if you where a 4 year old.

My eyes where wide open after I got off Space Mountain ( I bet I looked cute lol ) and then after that I went on It's a small world. I must say that I liked it's a small world a whole lot better than space mountain. I was just amazed when I was on It's a small world and my eyes where wide open but this time my eyes where wide open becauase I was happy not because I was afraid. I bet I looked adorable when I was on it's a small world :)

Its funny because right now my 2 favorite rides are Space Mountain and it's a Small World lol

I used to be the same way, and then I rode RnRC. You really can barely tell that you're upside down, because it goes by so fast. It's a really cool feeling, not scary like I thought it would be. I'd say give it a try :)

lol I am 27 and have 2 kids and 8 year old son and a 5 year old daughter .for instance i wouldn't even consider the aerosmith coaster.Or the mt everest thing thats opening in april. I am wondering about mission space.I have rode gravitron thing before is it the same?

I wouldnt suggest MS. I loved TOT and liked Aerosmith but MS made me feel like the crap the rest of the day. I had a hard time signing my name to a receipt 20 minutes afterwards I was so screwed up. Test Track is fun but only the loop part in my opinion. Soarin is great. BTM and Splash are very good. Star Wars is good. If your not going to do Aerosmith then I would think real hard about MS.

As far as fearing for my LIFE goes:

Astro-Orbiter can get pretty scary. When you go up all the way, the shuttle kind of tilts to the right and it feels like you're going to fall out for a second. But it's still my second favorite ride in the park.

Another time I feared for my life was when i rode the express monorail at dusk. There were about 500 million people in mycar, hardly any standing room, and the train stopped for about 15 minutes right outside the contemporary. Boy was it HOT in that car.

But yeah, other than that...

Like I said I guess it depends on the person because FlowersChild will not get on the Aerosmith ride because he is very afraid but he likes Mission Space. But like I said I just hate those huge drops. When I was 17 years old I was in 6 flags in Ohio and I tried out one of those roller coasters with the huge drops. By the way out of all those roller coasters with the huge drops this was called the kitty one. When I went on that I was scared to death and I was glad when it was over lol. Also I went on the kitty one the other ones where worse they even had a stand up roller coaster * yikes *

But still if you have a 5 year old child and you want to take them on Mission Space you might want to think very hard about that. You see I like Mission Space but I will admit that I get a funny feeling when I am on that ride, its the pressure that I feel in my face and my eyes start to water when I am on Mission Space. Now I can take Mission Space but if it where a lot more intense than I would not be able to take it.

Not having read all of the replies, I don't know if I'm repeating something somebody else already said, so if I am, I apologize.

We went in October with 3 kids, aged 11, 8, and 6. The 11-year-old and the 6-year-old had never gone an amusement ride in their lives. We followed the suggestion of the guide books and went on the coasters in the following order...1. Barnstormer 2. Splash Mountain 3. Big Thunder Mountain 4. Space Mountain 5. Rockin' Rollercoaster.
The 11-year-old loved all of the ones she went on. She bagged on Splash because she didn't want to get wet, and on RnR because she didn't want to go upside down. The 6-year old did everything but RnR, though he probably would have if his parents had let him. The 8-year-old, a seasoned coaster rider, did them all and only wished the cm's had forgotten to stop the car at the end of each ride...
We didn't do ToT...none of the kids wanted to...I was the only adult who wanted to and I never got there...Which is one of the many reasons I want to go back soon, before my heart or back gives out and I am not allowed :p

Rainfully, as you can see, you are not alone. I, too, am a It's a Small World fan.

As to the truly scary factor, the only thing I refused to do for several years was TOT and Rockin Roller Coaster. Finally I decided to try them when my sons wanted to, 1 on TOT and 1 on RNRC.

TOT I loved immediately. RNRC has grown on me.

I do understand why some people don't like Mission:Space. I'm not one of them, though. Am looking forward to trying Expedition:Everest!

Space Mountain is not scary. None of the mountains are, atleast IMO.

I am not a big thrill ride person at all, yet I have been on Rock 'N Roller Coaster and Tower of Terror. While they freaked me out at first, they are growing on me.

Dinosaur could be considered scary, but it is also so much fun!
