Say My Name!!!

I feel everyone's pain and frustration. My problem isn't my first name, but rather my last name. It's spelled Ng and 95% of the population butchers it. Anyone wanna guess how its pronounced? Hint: Even tho it starts with an "N", it doesn't start with the nnnnnn sound.

I am usually ok, but a few elderly people mishear my name and call me Alec  :(

What I do get a lot is my surname being spelt incorrectly :hammer:

The people at the bank get my name wrong all the time....

Teller: "Thanks Ronald... have a great day!"

Me: "...It's Roland...."

Teller: "Oh I am sorry.... is it? I thought it was Ronald"

Me: "Happens often...lol but dont worry about it."

It happened when I was in traffic court a lot to... (not now... but years ago). They even messed up on the schedual posting outside the courtroom... I should of just left...

Me: "Ah... I see a Ronald... not a Roland... I'm just going to go then since my name is not on the docket today."

Court Clerk: *rolls eyes* NO, YOU'LL STAY and have a seat...

*45min later*

Court Clerk: *sarcastically* "RON-ald ... please approach the stand. Your Honor, this is case blah blah blah State of Illinois vs RON-ald bblah blah blah."

Judge: "Ronald... you were ticketed on the night of so and so for doing 15 over in a 55mph zone"

Me: "Its Roland..."

Judge: "Wassat now?"

Me: "My first name is Roland, sir." :hammer:

 )

My mom used to call me by my sister's name (Claudia) all the time. (I've been doing that to poor Katie. :zipit: )
Worst was when she called me by the dog's name.

Nothing was as bad as the day you screamed at me "CLAUDIA! Stop barking!" :hammer:

My own friend called me Kaitlyn the other day. He knew the as soon as he said it he knew was gonna get it! He normaly calls me Katie-Marie (a combo of my 1st and middle name) he's one of 3 people who I dont mind calling me that.

I am KATIE, not Kathy not Katherine, but Katie

I want to know why we call Jerry "Jerry" if his name is Roland. Or is "Jerry" his o name? :animwink:

As for surnames, Im Italian, so its a pretty good bet you arent going to be able to pronounce it on the first try. Only ONE teacher in all my years of schooling ever did...Brother Walsh. And the only reason he knew it was because he had taught my father 28 years earlier!

Speaking of Names, I hear that this works for the women. Add an accent to your last name: example if you name is Barb, go by Barbie and the use your street name as your last name. Using this lingo my sister in-law is Kathy Handcock. :lookaroun

And Christy, good call on the 70's music. I think a comedian did a skit on music using the same 'rythym:lookaroun ' that you used.
