Saving pictures while at Disney

I apologize if this is in the wrong forum, but while planning for our trip to WDW in Sept/Oct, my mom has a camera that they no longer sell memory sticks for and will run out of room for pictures while we are on the trip most likely. Any suggestions of a way she can save pictures while on our trip? Thank! :wave:

Does one of you have a laptop? You can upload photos to your laptop without having to use the internet (and thus avoid paying the daily fee).

If they dont sell memory cards for her camera anymore it may be time to think about getting her a new one for her B-day or Christms that will hold more and them she will not have to worry about running out. Otherwise a laptop like above post said might be the best option.

If they no longer sell cards for her camera then it is most likely ancient anyway. Why not upgrade?

I take my laptop with me so I can unload my memory cards from all the cameras we take (my dSLR, wife's point and shoot, video camera and cell phones) at the end of the day. I have a new lens to play with this year so I suspect I'll take a lot more shots.

I'm kind of curious as to what sort of digital camera memory cards aren't sold anymore. Have you tried eBay?

I am also curious as to what type of memory card it is. I have not heard of any digital media that can not still be purchased.

Unless you have a media card reader adapter for your laptop, I doubt you would be able to just plug it in the computer if the card type is in fact outdated. The only instance I can think of where a digital camera is obsolete is the Sony camera I have that took the 3.5" floppy discs as memory.

You can find anything on the Internet. Give us more details, camera model, Memory required, etc. Some cameras you can upgrade the firmware. I had to do that as 1GB was the max. I can now use 2GB. I bought a bunch of 2GB cards over the Internet.

I agree...I've repaired some OLD keyboards (musical) that required ancient memory devices....I always found a way to obtain the needed format.

You can burn your memory cards on a disc at the camera centers in the parks. I'm sure there is a fee but I'm not exactly sure how much. If you have a car you could also drive to a nearby drugstore and burn a CD there. Here's where the camera centers are...

This is going to be your best option and it won't require any additional costs that uploading them elsewhere would.

Most cameras come with a USB cord that you plug in to your camera. You use that to upload photos.

Just so you're aware of it (incase you're not), if you do bring your laptop the safe in the room will not fit it unless it's one of the super, super tiny ones. Some (if not all) the hotels offer larger safes at the front desk you can sign out and use but I just wanted to make you aware of it if you opt to bring the computer.

It takes the old Sony Memory Sticks, they are all over eBay for around 20 bucks.

Memory Sticks are still being sold. Chances are you won't find them at Walmart, but you can order them online from Best Buy, Newegg and even Amazon.

You can also still use the newer memory stick duo cards, you just need an adaptor which many come with, ebay and amazon are your best bet. The camera she has is actually a very good camera, I wouldn't get rid of it, just find some more memory on line.
