Also just throwing some ideas out here, but the park could use a log flume ride. Besides Piraña, the park doesnt really have water rides for the summers, though the Flying Dutchman tries to fill that up a bit. Maybe we could make it a year round log flume ride with its main scenes indoor and some extra outdoor sections that they could close off in colder seasons. Maybe something based on Reynaert the Fox, such a classic story here in the Netherlands.
Not to go folklore nerd on you but to go folklore nerd on you, Baba Yaga is a Russian/Slavic/Eastern European witch, not Italian.Baba Yaga(an Italian witch)
I thought Baba Yaga was an American assassin named John Wick. Not to go folklore nerd on you but to go folklore nerd on you, Baba Yaga is a Russian/Slavic/Eastern European witch, not Italian.
Yea i was mixing up baba yaga and befana hahaNot to go folklore nerd on you but to go folklore nerd on you, Baba Yaga is a Russian/Slavic/Eastern European witch, not Italian.
All good. Just wanted to make sure we were clear on the correct witch.Yea i was mixing up baba yaga and befana haha
This tho.I thought Baba Yaga was an American assassin named John Wick.
In seriousness, though, a Baba Yaga attraction at Efteling would be perfect! Y’all HAVE to do this! The ride vehicles practically announce themselves. Let’s see, you’ve got the mortar & pestle which she flies around in (family spinning coaster?):
Then you have her hut on chicken legs, which suggests perhaps a simple up-and-down flat ride to complement the bigger ride:
Do this! Do this! Do this! Do this! Do this!
And I keep reading Baby Yoda lolYea i was mixing up baba yaga and befana haha
I know we said to do a indoor coaster but we could also do a indoor ride similar to the Kuka arm and Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey. We would just have to find some ride system that would work. I am really intrigued with this ideaI thought Baba Yaga was an American assassin named John Wick.

Maybe we could have it be the central focus of a ride that has you interact with Leonardo Da Vinci and use his flying machines to take a travel throughout Italian mythology? Kind of like the earlier Arabian Nights draft we planned for the project before it was decided most of the myths would either take too long or had moments that couldn't exactly be adapted for a Disney park without censoring things. So, we cross through snippets of major iconic scenes from the myths. Here is something we could use. We talked about using it in the Moroccan challenge but we could always use it here. It would really make the park even grander and bring it one step higher to Disney level.

This works but I really like using the Baby Yaga idea for the coaster since the thrill it is has to itMaybe we could have it be the central focus of a ride that has you interact with Leonardo Da Vinci and use his flying machines to take a travel throughout Italian mythology? Okay! Sorry about that, I got confused about what was being discussed there. Any ideas for ride vehicles and the ride's contents? This works but I really like using the Baby Yaga idea for the coaster since the thrill it is has to it
I mean Baba Yaga is already a fabulous name for a coaster. Vehicles could be the mortar and pestle.Okay! Sorry about that, I got confused about what was being discussed there. Any ideas for ride vehicles and the ride's contents?
I honestly think the main focus here should be on Monsieur Cannibale since that seems to be the real "" part of the area. The rest I feel can just go into a general placemaking and refurbishment budget for the entire park. For Monsieur Cannibale, I was thinking we could either re-theme it if we find something suitable as a theme for the surrounding area, or we could remove it, together with the labyrinth next to it and then add a new kind of attraction there. Things I was thinking about were a simulator, a family-friendly interactive maze or a newer spinner. Kleuterhof playground could really just be turned into a grander second entrance to the park. It currently already serves as a park entrance for Hotel Guests, but it doesn't really live up to the expectations that the primary entrance does. For the loss of the playground, we could make a Carnaval Festival indoor play area similar to Dumbo's Circus Tent at the Magic Kingdom, facing the attraction where there is a photo-op of the ride right now. There's room for expansion between Dream Realm and Travel Realm, but it really depends on the other things we're doing for the park and whether we want to add something for Dream or Travel in this location.
Like I said above, most of this can go into a general placemaking and refurbishment budget. I think a "New Python" would be a good choice.Okay so the biggest flaw of this land is the Game Gallery, it looks like a cheap fair and even the prices you can win are the standard carnival toys. I was thinking, we could re-theme it to old Dutch harbor facades, with the typically Dutch rooftops, to sort of extend the theme from De Vliegende Hollander, Polka Marina and Schipschommel Halve Maen. The Game Gallery could be placed in these buildings or in front of them as market stalls, with toys and prices that represent the park and its characters and themes instead of just a bunch of random toys. The current dining option, De Meermin, could also be given a worthy facade if we change this area a bit. Python is a nostalgic ride in the park so its hard to remove it, but if we can find a way to build something there to fill its role as the looping coaster of the park, then we'll be fine. There's actually some greenspace behind it, so we could really just demolish Python and build a bigger ride there. Since there's the train station, right next to it themed to East Timor, I was thinking we could somehow theme this newer thrill ride to that region and its mythology. Also, the area has some sort of theme that its overrun by monkeys, so maybe they could cause some mayhem during the ride. D'Oude Tuffers is a fun ride for smaller Guests, but it really doesn't fit the theme of Adventure at all, it's a simple autopia-like ride past rural Dutch themed landscapes. If we replace Traptreintjes de Kindervreugd in Travel Realm by this ride(since cars kind of fit the theme of travel), then we could easily place a new ride here. I'd suggest something family friendly, since that's what we're taking away.
Pirana can go in the refurb budget. We could possibly get Baba Yaga/Reynard in that expansion plot.Other Realm:
- Pirana(besides maybe adding a storyline of Mexican water spirits messing around with Guests, adding a few more figures and covering up backstage areas during the attraction, it's quite safe)
- Max and Moritz(hasn't opened yet, but I guess it's safe)
- Fata Morgana (safe)
There's room for expansion between Fata Morgana and Pirana, but it's not really necessary.
Honestly, I think Spookslot should stay as the walkthrough it is. Looking at the videos of it, it seems like a really charming and enchanting experience. Give it a refurb and some tech upgrades and I think it'll be good. I like the idea of a Pardoes flat. Does the park have a spookhouse? I think it'd fit really well with the Pardoes theme.Fantasy Realm:
- Symbolica (safe)
- Spookslot (re-theme or update, maybe make it a dark ride, with the current ride as its queue, but not necessary)
- Fabula (safe)
I think we could slightly change the central street of the park, to include Spookslot and Fabula with Fantasy Realm as they don't really fit in Other Realm. There's room for expansion, perhaps a flatride? Or we could add something for the mascot, Pardoes since Fantasy Realm is mainly about him, like maybe his house, with a flatride or just a walkthrough inside:
Another choice for the Baba Yaga/Reynard slot. I'm thinking Reynard in one and Baba Yaga in the other. Everything else in the refurb and placemaking budget.Dream Realm:
- Droomvlucht (safe)
- Sprookjesbos (safe) (it's easy and realistic to add another story to the area, but it's really not necessary to fix)
- Stoomcarouselpaleis(if we're thinking about removing one of the carousels in this area, we should definitely not demolish this one, it's the most authentic one in the park)
- Villa Volta (safe, besides maybe making it a bit more international or small renovations)
- Anton Pieck Plein ( I was just thinking about upping the theming a bit. Anton Pieck's drawings really work towards something much grander than the Efteling finally built, especially with the railroad passing through the area and always being a focus in his drawings. Then we could also replace one or two of the flat rides here, because it's kind of redundant. Maybe just make it feel like a more historically accurate fair from Anton Pieck's drawings, instead of just a bunch of flat rides scattered around.)
- Volk van Laaf(besides the monorail offering kind of too much view over the outside of the park(which could be fixed with a tunnel of some sorts), this ride and area are safe, maybe add a dining option and a shop, that'd bring the area to life)
- Speeltuin Kindervreugd (safe, just a simple playground)
- Efteling Museum(safe)
- Diorama (safe)
There's room for expansion next to the Volk van Laaf area. There was a time when there were rumors to build a drop ride themed to the characters from the Volk van Laaf area to attract both young and old to this area. There's also room for expansion between Travel and Dream Realm, but that really depends on which one we would like to expand. Lastly, the park's railroad should really pass by more exciting things. It currently shows too much backstage area, literally going by the park's outer ring for a long time, with little to no show scenes and the station in Dream Realm should be re-themed as well(it's sad if you compare it to the station in Adventure Realm).
I agree about the shopping. We don’t need it. I think we can put that money in the Baby Yaga budget because I honestly see that costing way more for an indoor coaster£100 mil - Refurbs and Placemaking: Obviously, it's the biggest part of the project. Give the park a ton of love and care and make it sparkle.
£30 mil - Shopping center: Not to rock the boat, but do we really need this? Are the Dutch big shoppers?
£25 mil - Rethemes and Minor expansions: Monsieur Cannibale and the Pardoes flat. Anything else?
£25 mil - Baba Yaga
£20 mil - Reynard
In doing research this morn for Phantasialand’s budget, I wound up referencing Efteling’s expenses.I honestly think the main focus here should be on Monsieur Cannibale since that seems to be the real "***" part of the area. The rest I feel can just go into a general placemaking and refurbishment budget for the entire park.

From this I think I've got a semi-realistic breakdown:
