Save the Adventurers Club

So much of the old AC has been gutted, removed, sold and spread all over the place. As much as I would want it to come back at PI, it is too far gone. I hold out hopes for an AC lite concept maybe showing up in the future somewhere on property. The cast and some of the continuity from start to end of the club is pretty much never coming back. Even if they brought in a whole new cast and gave them the cast materials that were written, too much is already lost. So many adlibs, back story and running gags were never recorded in a script or a book. A lot of it developed in an organic manner. I saw just about every show in its original form from script showings. So much of what made some of the shows so great developed out of adlibs and even bloopers. This is not to say that a new cast could not recreate this but it will take the right group of people to do it. I don't know what happened to Fletcher Hodges book on the items in the club. I hope it somehow ended up in the Walt Disney Archive. If you ever had a chance to see it, it was some of the casts best work in creativity. Especially some of the early cast. I hope they do something different now. It would be hard for me to sit there and constantly comparing in my mind everything being done to what had been done. I kind of just want to let those memories live in my mind undisrupted than to have to adjust to a brand new cannon. So if it does ever come back, I hope it comes back with something a little different.

Well, that's one CM, and he's still on the Mouse's payroll, patrolling the streets of Hollywood, so I'm hopeful he'd return. (The man did invent the word "Kungaloosh" after all.) :)

Otherwise, the cast was always changing. Many of the "fan-favorites" at the end had been there maybe 5 of the Club's 19 years. Equally importantly, the characters evolved over time, as new actors brought new aspects out in them. While the basic Library shows remained fairly constant, many of the more impromteau shows were dropped and added over the years (the I-4 Nomads begat the Rythym Ritual, for instance).

In the back of my head, would I constantly compare the new cast to my "favorite" Hathaway and Otis? Almost definitely--I did that with all the new hires (and every Hatahway and Otis I saw after my first night). Doesn't mean they never made me laugh.

No my friend, not dead...dormant..like a powerful volcano about to explode. Within weeks the new plan for DTD will be made public, and it's my bet that this thread will become HIGHLY active at that time...whatever affect that announcement portends for the AC.

Curious what you've heard. The rumors I've heard--and I need to stress, they are just rumors--all seem to leave the AC out of the mix.

I just see what I've read here. You are correct, nothing AC specific. But there are a lot of bigger plans that seem to indicate a major expansion for DTD. I guess i just find it hard to believe that they would do all that stuff (new freeway exit, parking garage, new huge indoor mall-like building) without addressing the ravenous and devoted fans of the AC...I find it hard to believe that they wont throw us some kind of bone.

And yet . . . it wouldn't be the most unbelievable thing they have ever done.

But don't mind me. I happen to like the fact that you (and some others) still have enthusiasm for the return of AC, even if I no longer share it.

(it's been beat out of me, just by reading this forum)

Kungaloosh Adventurers,

With the annual celebration of the Adventurers Club, the ConGaloosh, only weeks away, an exciting event has been planned for the occasion. My good friend "Right Guard" has posted information about Col. Wayne P. McSwagger, the infamous villain who stole the Mystic Golden Idol of Adventureland from the Jungle Navigation Co.'s Skippers and sent last years Adventurers on an illfated Adventureland Challenge, has now set his treacherous gaze upon the "Place of all Delights", Anandapur, Asia! This sounds like an adventure to rival that of Otis T. Wren's hunt for the elusive Ebony Makaira Marline, or Hathaway Browne's discovery of the Lost Continent of Atlantis, or even Emil Bleehall's trained pigeon corp. Sign up now to be part of the Adventure!

A while ago there were rumors about element of the AC coming to Adventureland. With Yesterday's announcement of the end of prohibition at MK, I find those rumors a bit more interesting. Is there any possible connection / synergy there?

It's an interesting thought. The rumor re: Adventureland specifically said no alcohol, but as I said in the full liquor thread, BOG feels like a trial balloon. I think we're a ways away from a full bar still, but we've defnitiely started down that slope, and something similar to the Club would be an interesting add. I'd almost rather see a Western version in the Diamond Horseshoe, tho.

I would think a western-style "saloon" could be an easier insertion at the MK that a whole new AC would. Infrastructure is already in place. I would think the only drawbacks could be having LTT right next door, and HDDR over at FW in terms of similar experiences.

Once again, your proof please. More and more factors are pointing toward our desired outcome than away.

I've 'proven' myself on these forums more times than I can count.. I won't reveal sources, and I won't discuss details with anyone.. But I can tell you with 100% certainty that there are no plans, zero, zilch, to bring back AC.. I don't want to get into an argument, my only reason for posting was to let you guys know that there isn't anything new regarding it.. Not to incite a riot from the faithful... I get it, you want your club back.. and if I were to see ANYTHING that would support that, I would be glad to share it.. Unfortunately, that's not the case.. Just don't swing your hopes on internet rumors, because I haven't seen anything that would support them..

Sorry..
