Hmmm.. you guys (and I LOVE your passion for AC!) are reaching a bit.. I can tell you with absolute confidence that those props have been photographed for the archives, and are listed as surplus at this point.. They will be relegated to bone yard along the tour.. they have NOT be repainted, and I know of no plans to do so as they are considered surplus and no longer show prop in the system. and yes, there is a system! :)

Ironically, as a kick in the shin to the Pleasure Island fans, disney released the mystery vinyl today in the Park Starz series:

While going through some of my old Club pics I found these from Last June and this May and it does not look like there is a fresh coat of paint on them at all....in fact it looks a little worse for wear sitting out on the backlot...

Note the tail is still faded as it was in this picture from May of this year.

Also if you look at the picture from the backlot you can see that there has been no touch up to the bottom of the pots or to the sarcophagus...I think they are just waiting for a spot in the boneyard to open.

I wouldn't think that at all. For one thing, there were more than one Colonel, and my guess is this is the one that was saved one from being auctioned off (side note, he was not on Ebay as some rumors stated, but in a Cast Member only silent auction). If they didn't care about what happened to the Colonel, I'm sure they would have just let him be sold and be done with it, but they did save him and are now touring him, as my guess would be, to raise awareness of the Club and excite people of it's return.

Master Gracey - As far as the Colonel goes, they used to have 3 at the Club....#1 went missing around the time of closing, #2 is said to have been sent to HK along with the props that weren't sent to D-Street/Aulani/Trader Sam's and #3 was the one that is on tour. As far as the auction/tour, it was always stated as a CM auction....I even think some of the CM's on here put a bid in before he got pulled by the Disney Archives. As far as why they are touring him it is because most DVC fans are among the die hards that would love to see Dreamfinder's top hat and the Colonel. When he is done doing the tours he will get sent to Burbank, Ca and stored with all the rest of the fun stuff in the archives till it is pull out for some other event. The archives loves to have the things that really tug at our heart strings to display for us all whenever they get the chance.

While I have not given up all hope of the return of the Club at this point I can say there is a very very small chance we will ever enjoy the Club again.

The AC was a show, just like any other production at WDW. When you have a show, many times you have duplicates of important props used in the show. That way, if something happens to Colonel 1, they plug in Colonel 2 and don't have to shut the entire place down while Colonel 1 gets fixed.

I get it. I'm just asking if this guy has real proof of additional Colonels or is he just assuming they exist. Is there a storage room in the AC that he has access to where the additional Colonels are kept that he has seen or is he just assuming they are around? He seems to be talking about stuff he has no real Knowledge of. I'm just sayin....

That is interesting, because I can say with the same confidence that the Artifacts have been repainted. I stared at those artifacts for two long years before they made it to M.G.M. and it is obvious that a new coat of paint has been applied. Also, I do not know which list of props you were looking at, because the ones that I was privy to not only listed the exterior props, but also all the interior as well.

covers things rather nicely. Lastly, I believe the amount of real knowledge I possess on this subject far outweighs the amount of cynicism that we can all do without. The real possibility of The Adventurers Club's return is not as far fetched as most would like us to believe. However, as always a new wave of letters, e-mails and phone calls to the list of Execs on page one of this thread couldn't hurt.

I'm not being a cynic, just a realist... and I'm sure you have quite a bit of knowledge on the subject... I really wish the club was returning, it sucks that it isn't... it REALLY sucks that it isn't... But it isn't.. As far as the prop list? There is one list, with three sections.. The same goes for anything of the retired properties on Pleasure Island..

Section A: Retained/Repurposed (AKA D Street reuse, other locations)

Section B: Retained Surplus (AKA Backlot tour type scenario)

Section C: Discard Surplus (AKA Trash Heap)

There are some articles from AC that are in A, a fair amount in B, and a heckuva lot in C.. Most of the items you see in the pictures above have now been moved into the Backlot Tour boneyard as part of the tour at this point... they are no longer in the location pictured above.

I REALLLLLLLLLY want the club to return, but it's a done deal at this point.. The letters, emails, etc might get you something, but the club that was, will never be again...

Like I said, it sucks, because I want it back so badly... Just one more night!!

Sorry wdw71fan, the cynicism comment wasn't directed at you. However, I'm certain that the Adventurers Club will rise again. I've been hearing a lot of things that I've been told to keep under wraps, but wherever the Artifacts go temporarily, they will be able to be wrangled back to 5189 Hill St. where they belong.

Found this article and found it interesting:

It's closed now, but Pleasure Island had a small network of underground tunnels running below the entire "island". These tunnels included the kitchen for most of the clubs where food was served, storage, management offices, a large breakroom with couches/tv's/vending machines, wardrobe facilities for dancers/performers, and access to the controls of the giant stone face that spoke to audiences in the center of the Adventurer's Club. Speaking of the Adventurer's Club, it had a network of walkways behind the walls that allowed performers to seemingly pop in and out of all the rooms without anyone seeing them. Panels in fake sections of the walls opened up to allow access. Going through those walkways at night, when the park was closed, was reaaaaaalllly creepy.

The brick plaza outside Adventurers Club, BET Soundstage and Comedy Warehouse is on the second level with an employee-only area underneath it. But to my knowledge there are no tunnels that go further east. The tunnels don't connect to 8trax or Mannequins.

Really Disney, "WonderFall"? And the description of the offerings is even more pathetic. Adventurers, lets tell Disney what would REALLY make Downtown Disney wonderfull this Fall. "The Halloween Jubilee" inside the Adventurers Club Library is the first thing that comes to mind. What are your thoughts? Go comment!

Spent one Halloween at the AC. Not the best AC experience per say but a great party. Will be there Tuesday night bemoaning our loss....

And if you see a bearded guy in the parks on Wednesday wearing a Kungaloosh shirt w/ the Colonel thereon, give him a fishy wave !!

Kungaloosh Adventurers,

I know that I sent my letter off to the Great Pumpkin weeks ago asking for the Adventurers Club to reopen. We shall see if I've picked out the most sincere pumpkin patch in PA to wait for him this year. In the meantime, every year I look forward to recieveing "Right Guard's" Halloween and Christmas cards, and this year he did not dissapoint for the more spirited holiday!

AnAdventurousHalloween.jpg

We here at the Adventurers Club would like to wish you all an Adventurous Halloween and share with you a song that Prof. Wren found while researching this ghoulish time of year. It appears (or at least Otis claims) that most holiday carols that we all know and love, were actually Halloween Carols that were stolen from Halloween! Among his “discoveries” comes this little gem. This song dates beck to the ancient Celts, circa pre Stonehenge, when apparently Halloween was celebrated for a dozen ghoulish nights (that's a lot of candy). This longer holiday period was an early druid marketing ploy and when it failed this wonderful song was up for grabs to any other fly by night holiday that happened to come along. And now for the quintessential Halloween song:
__________________________________________________________

The 12 Nights of Halloween

On the first night of Halloween,
a vampire gave to me:
a thirst for blood & immortality (Slurp, Ahh).

On the second night of Halloween,
a vampire gave to me:
2 puncture wounds (Aah!),
and a thirst for blood & immortality (Slurp, Ahh).

On the third night of Halloween,
a vampire gave to me:
3 Frenchmen's heads (Un, deux, trois!),
2 puncture wounds (Aah!),
and a thirst for blood & immortality. (Slurp, Ahh)

On the fourth night of Halloween,
a vampire gave to me:
Four oozing sores (Ah, Aah, Aaah, Aaaah!!!),
3 Frenchmen's heads (Un, deux, trois!),
2 puncture wounds (Aah!),
and a thirst for blood & immortality (Slurp. . .Ahh).

On the Fifth night of Halloween,
a vampire gave to me:
Maggots... In... My... Eyes!!! (Maggots! In my eyes!!! Aaaah!!! Aaaah).
__________________________________________________________

Unfortunately the rest of this Halloween Carol has been lost since Pamelia would not let us finish, and burned our only copy of the song. Oh well.

Happy Halloween and Kungaloosh,
Hathaway Browne, Emil Bleehall and Prof. Otis T. Wren

Also, he sent me a link to what appears to be The Pleasure Island Philharmonic back from the dead! Well, their percussion seciont anyway. Zom-Beat which has been exhumed for this Halloween season has much of the humorous styling and concert location of he great Pleasure Island Philharmonic! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oeKIr6AmLkI, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NNJ5Z2dGlXM

Here's to hoping that the Great Pumpkin will fly out of this pumpkin patch and reopen those hallowed doors this hallowed evening! If not, there's always time to write to that fat guy in a red suit and the white beard who goes, "Ho, ho, ho!"!

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!

just walked by the AC an hour ago. It really couldnt look more like a shell of its former self. Used to be so vibrant at Halloween. Nothing now there inspires hope...

Interesting bit of news on the Save the Adventurers Club Facebook page. A group contributer, has posted a picture of the Adventurers Juice Cart, newly renamed the Adventurers Hut! Sure looks like the reopening of the Adventurers Club is not so far fetched if the Adventure motif still exists in front of the building!

Evidence of hope? That's laughable. Looks to be more a convenient way to profit to offer food and drink to the GP

Maybe so...
But they could have called it anything. The name was picked for some reason.
(No, I don't have any information, I just have hope.)
