We've never stayed there SSR looks like a nice resort. My only reservation is the location and theming. We usually like to be near one of the parks (we usually stay at WL or BC), and the theming of the resort doesn't seem as inspired to me as some of the others. I'm sure it's great though.

We've stayed there several times. I would recommend having car as the resort is pretty large. Personally, I think the location is better than AKV. It's a straight shot to Epcot and pretty quick to MK and DHS and its a short-ish walk or bus ride to DTD. We have always requested (and gotten) a room in the Springs section which is closest to the pool and main building.

For location its pretty handy to attractions as has already been stated. Its a sprawling resort, so be ready to walk if your in one of the farther out buildings. As for theming....its about my least favorite.

We are DVc memebers and SSR is our home resort. We usually stay in a 2bdrm villa, since it is 5 of us.

The resort is huge so by walking you can kind of loose your way around. The is a main pool and then there is another 3 smaller pools near one of the other buildings( they call them quite pools).

So at check in you will go to the carriage house, they will give you your check in package and let you know what are you will be in.

Here is a copy of the resort map.

But we loved the resort! The theme is 1940's upstate NY.

We stayed there for the first time iin October of 2008. I liked it there. I thought the room was in good shape, not too much wear and tear.

We requested a room in the springs section and I think that is where we would like to be when we stay there. It is super close to the main pool and the counter service/store. I had to run and find safety pins one day for my daughters costume and I was glad I was so close.

Bus service was pretty good. We usually didn't have to wait too long for a bus, with the exception of one time.

It's not as convenient as one of the epcot resorts or a monorail resort, but it is a beautiful, quiet resort.

i stayed at ssr back in 2007 and really liked the resort. i thought the rooms were beautifully decorated. i think the theme is really classy and overall the resort and rooms are just beautiful. if you will have a car, i do suggest driving to the parks. when we were there it seemed that we were always waiting for the buses for extended periods of time. we never seemed to catch a break so we ended up driving to the parks for most of the trip. ssr also has ferry service to dtd which is really nice if you like dtd. we had a good time going over there and seeing all the shops. i personally prefer staying at the mk resorts because that is my favorite park but i would recommend ssr as it is a really nice resort and if given the opportunity, i would stay there again. hope this helps! :)

Heading for the great escape.
I stayed in Nov, home resort but Im not a fan. It just lacked something. It felt more like some of the villa communitys I stayed at on my first few trips to Orlando than a Disney resort.

I think it may have been better to stay in the Grandstand area where there was some themeing. plus from what I have read the rooms seem to be in better condition than where we stayed Gongess Park block closes to the Springs. Was handy for parking and buses though.

Satying elsewhere this year.

My wife and I have been to SSR twice and the last visit was last November. It's a beautiful place and it is very large resort. The space gives you nice quiet place to relax at the end of the day. The quiet pools are exactly just that...quiet and are great for a quick morning lap.

Hope you enjoy your stay.
