Sanity Check - Solo trip to WDW

Through the magic of points and miles, I am taking a solo trip to WDW next month!

My last trip to WDW was a family trip for MNSSHP in 2013. Planning a trip for a group is different than planning a trip for just me. Last time I was solo in WDW was in 1997 for a friend's wedding.

Should I wear my Ma Beagle costume and meet up with the DisneyBounders?

Does anyone eat alone at Be Our Guest?

Should I stay cheap and do All Sports? (I will be calling AAA tomorrow to see if there are any deals)

I'm not going to sleep tonight!

@HouCuseChickie and @Jessica Meier I am looking to you for advice and mom support. I will also accept you as roommates. Think about it.

If I make a reservation at the SciFi, will I get a car or will I end up facing backwards at the counter?

You can always request to sit at a car when you make your reservation or check in at the host station. They'll likely put you in a car with other people though (e.g. you are sitting in the front seat, and they seat a couple behind you in the back seat). But I've never had an issue with getting a car seat versus sitting at the counter.

The only FP I wanted was for the Mine Train and it's closed for both days of my trip. Does it have a single rider line? I might make that my first stop in the morning.
Unfortunately there is no single rider line at 7DMT. But keep checking MDE for availability even after you arrive, people cancel FPs all the time ~ my daughter-in-law was able to snag FPs for 2 on the bus ride over to MK!

@disneyfirstLJ alone time for mom is very important. Alone time in WDW is more important! :) I went to Disney as a child so my memories color my view of the World. I lurve the Carousel of Progress. It's old, creaky and out of date so I don't make the family ride it. Hopefully, my trip report won't be "So, I waited on line for 7DMT then I waited on line for Peter Pan..."

If you do rope drop at Magic Kingdom and you hightail it over to 7DMT you should be able to get on without a FP+ fairly quickly or take advantage of AM EMH. I would try to score a FP+ for Peter Pan or ride it right after 7DMT on your rope drop day. We walked right on to Peter Pan the day we did rope drop, rode Small World, did Little Mermaid and then used our 9-10 AM FP+ for 7DMT. Even though the park was really busy that day we were able to do everything we wanted to do. We did Carousel of Progress for the first time this trip and it was fun!

Yah, we managed to snag one the day before our MK day last month the week after Easter, when the park was REALLY crowded. That's my recommend too, just keep trying to switch one of your FP's to 7DMT.

If you are planning to go at rope drop, I would FP+ 7DMT as well as two of the other mountains (Space, Splash, or Thunder) and go directly to PP for your first ride. My family always knocks out the rides in Fantasyland first thing in the morning before the area becomes completely choked with strollers - we've usually ridden everything in that area within the first hour. If you plan on starting later on in the day, definitely FP+ PP as the lines can get very long.

Phew! I saw that JC was closed and I panicked. It will be opened on 5/8 so I will be able to see the back of water. If I don't see the back of water, I feel sad. It is the jewel in the WDW crown.

That is roughly my plan. I wasn't able to get the FP+ for 7DMT (I will try that day) so that will be my first stop with PP as my second.

I'm doing PP for the sake of memory so if I don't get on, I'll be okay. On the other hand, iasm is a memory ride but an important one for me. That was mine and Grandpa's favorite. Last trip, I was able to hold it together until the final room before I started tearing up.
