Thanks everyone for your replies. My main goal was just for people to realize that you always need to be aware, even in Disney. I'll definitely look into some self defense classes too
Common sense is the key to safety, at Disney or anywhere else. At night, stay with other people, follow well-lit pathways, and park in well-lit areas. Keep a sharp eye on your car keys, room key and wallet.
That said, however, I have been to WDW many, many times by myself, and I have NEVER felt threatened or unsafe.
