I hope the safes are safe! I have always used them to store my firearm while at dinner and away from the room. Of anything that could be stolen, that would be a nightmare!

All the safes I have used have a key.

Yep you charge to the room with your "key to the world" that they give you with your name on it. You can even charge your park purchases. Pretty neat.

Are the safes big enough to put a laptop in?

The first time we took our laptop we used a cable and a Defcon alarm...it was a pain to chain it to the closet racks. We now just put them (yep, the girls each bring their own) and we just leave them in a drawer. We've even left one out on the table and it was never touched.

The safe is big enough for a couple of wallets, your extra cash or credit cards.

For keeping things when you are in the parks, I wonder about using the park lockers? If I brought a laptop I think that is where I would lock it up.

Are you allowed to bring them on Disney Property?

That may be a dumb question but I was just curious...

I think he was joking about the firearm...

Your laptop will be safe, mine always has been and I always leave it out. Once, I had to switch rooms and Disney moved my belongings but not what was in the fridge - and they were more then happy to replace (give credit for) what was lost... So if a laptop goes missing....

I wouldnt worry about it - but there is ample place to hide it.

That would be the last place I would leave them. I think the heat & humidity would be a killer, not to mention I really don't know how safe they are...too many people can see what goes one there. :lookaroun

The rooms are safe, I've even left money on the nightstand and it was never even moved.

I plan on taking my laptop too but I also plan on locking it in my suitcase while we are in the parks

1. Good idea

2. The threat is not from housekeeping taking it as much as someone else seeing it through the window (or just randomly trying) and waiting till housekeeping comes and then playing the old "just gotta grab something real quick, have a nice day."

3. The safes are about 4 inches deep and maybe 10 inches wide and 8 inches high.

4. Some resorts have safe deposit boxes at the front desk (I know CR and Poly do.)

Have fun.

Well....believe it or not, many of us cops have our guns with us most, if not all the time - and yes, even in WDW. It's part of us. You'd have to be a cop to understand...

Just be aware that even if you can legally carry a firearm, I don't believe that Disney will allow them into the parks. Your room at your hotel, yes. Parks, no.

If you carry a firearm to the park, I've heard that they have security escort you to a backstage location where they have lockboxes for you to secure it until you leave.

I've heard that they escort you off property, with no refunds. This does not apply to certain LOCAL law enforcement personel.

I've noticed that the safes are bigger at the Deluxe resorts than the ones at the Moderates. We've also used safes that had keys and ones that had those 4 digit combination locks (GF).
