Are the safes in the rooms safe? how do you use them a key or combination.
Also has anyone made charges on their room key? how does it work:shrug:
Thanks for any help

I've noticed that the safes are bigger at the Deluxe resorts than the ones at the Moderates. We've also used safes that had keys and ones that had those 4 digit combination locks (GF).

I've only seen the safes at the deluxes and I know a computer won't fit in one there so I can't imagine fitting one in anywhere else. We've only had the key type ones so far though.

Most recent trip to WDW, stayed at the Contemporary. Safe was NOT big enough for MY laptop, but if you have a compact one it might fit. I just lock mine in my suitcase and leave it in the closet until I need it. According to the directions on the safe, it will take a 4 digit number (your choice) or a credit card. It doesn't charge the credit card, but uses the magnetic strip as the combination...haven't tried it though. Safe is big enough for extra cash ( :ROFLOL:), travelers checks, iPods, digital camera and video camera (cuz I don't take them along when we go to DTD shopping, or just out to dinner).

1. Good idea

2. The threat is not from housekeeping taking it as much as someone else seeing it through the window (or just randomly trying) and waiting till housekeeping comes and then playing the old "just gotta grab something real quick, have a nice day."

3. The safes are about 4 inches deep and maybe 10 inches wide and 8 inches high.

4. Some resorts have safe deposit boxes at the front desk (I know CR and Poly do.)

Have fun.

Maybe someone can explain why the maid insist on opening your blinds everytime they do your room... it drives me nuts, but I don't speak spanish so I can't tell them to stop it.... nor did they seem to understand that sticking the little privacy card in the slot was supposed to keep them out.
