Wow, the challenge is showing as sold out too. I’m very lucky - I entered the queue around 1:40 but it still took me almost 15 minutes once it opened to get to the registration page. 
I didn’t think so many people would be eager to throw $445 at a few races so close to Christmas!

Wow, glad I got in when I did. This will be my kid's first runDisney race so should be great!

I had an 18 minute estimate in the queue once it opened (probably actually 14-15 min), and tried to sign up my gf for the 5k first but it seemed to be sold out already b/c it didn’t even show up in my cart after I added my challenge registration.
Fortunately my challenge went through, but when I went back and tried again for the 5k for her, it let me get all the way to check out before giving me:
I went ahead and signed her up for the 10k out of concern that might close soon too, fingers crossed that she’s okay with that, haha!

There actually is a "Rat Race Adventure Sports" organization "Rat Race event and trip formats are designed to be physically and mentally tough, but these are not what we would call ‘sufferfests’. Our challenges can certainly be very hard, but they are all designed to be achievable." I believe they are UK based. Their events are rough cross-country style. I've already bookmarked appropriate shirts in Etsy to purchase next year.
I am happy to report in that short stressful window. I am registered for my first LIVE runDisney race. My entire party was able to register and we are all running the challenge. So excited, couldn’t of asked for better themes for my first LIVE event.
I figured, given the themes it would sell out fast. I was shocked to see how fast it sold out.
EDIT: Registering from Fantasyland added an extra wrinkle.

I was literally - literally - tagging you in a post to see how you fared in registering. So happy that everyone was successful! I promise they’re not all that stressful - I was honestly very surprised myself (although, at this point, I really shouldn’t be…). I know you will have an absolute blast - these races were so much fun “back in the day”, and I’m sure they’ll be just as great in April!
I think that's why some of the races went so fast - because rD brought back former favorites. Didn't the Race for Taste morph into the W&D Half?
We were planning on running the Everest Challenge...the year it was cancelled.
Hopefully the fast sellout of the 5K will convince rD of the enthusiasm for a night race.
I got all the way to the end of registering my wife and myself, and then when I clicked the Register & Pay button, it informed me that "Registration for runDisney Springtime Surprise Challenge is closed; it has reached the maximum number of participants." 
I was able to start over and register both of us for The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror 10-miler, however. So, it wasn't a total loss.
My wife was not able to step away from work to do her own registration and I'm guessing that the extra time it took me to fill out her information probably cost us. It auto-populated most of my information after I signed in, but when I chose to register her as well, all of the forms were blank, so it took a bit longer. Anyway, we're in for the 10-miler and we don't have to cancel or move our DVC reservation we had already made.

I did not do it. I will even be there chaperoning our Senior Trip that week, but did not purchase the Everest 5k.
Did not sign up maybe out of principle, but I have a little regret now. A $100 5k that used to cost about $65 and was double the length, featured obstacles, and included a 3 hour afterparty at DAK. Just couldn't sign up when I thought about what used to be.
But I am super excited to read about this years event from all of you. Happy everyone seemed to get into their races.

Forgot today was the virtual registration. Hope everyone was able to snag all the races they wanted.
Weird for me to not participate in virtual registration since I am in for the LIVE challenge.
