runDisney Springtime Surprise Weekend

Demarke

Have I told you lately that I 👍 you?
I have never been so happy to be right. Ironically, I’ll actually be down in Disney on a family vacation when registration goes live for this. I will do everything in my power to ensure I get into this challenge. Very excited the challenge is ALL of the events and not just the 10K and 10 miler.

I hope to experience this as my very first LIVE runDisney race. A little bit scared about securing registeration but will do my best.

I couldn’t have asked for better themes. I am so excited.
Yes! I am thrilled that the challenge includes all three races! That will hopefully ease some stress from trying to sign up for a challenge and a 5k during registration and hoping they are both are still available by the time you check out! 😀

Actually, just realized something. I’m scheduled to arrive on Thursday at 10AM. Since I already booked air before the announcement. Should I be worried about trying to change it to get to the expo. Can I go to the expo on Thursday? Now I’m stressing.

EDIT: I actually arrive at Noon.

Was digging though the site and found this.

“We will provide the latest updates for the runDisney Health & Fitness Expo leading up to our race weekends. Please check back closer to the event for more details.

Participants must attend the runDisney Health & Fitness Expo at least one day prior to their first event to pick up their race bib, participant shirt and pre-purchased merchandise.

Thursday, March 31, 2022 | 10:00 AM – 6:00 PM

Friday, April 1, 2022 | 12:00 PM – 7:00 PM

Saturday, April 2, 2022 | 11:00 AM – 3:00 PM”

The first day of the expo is Thursday like normal. The above says that participants must attend one day prior. So I assume that’s a typo. If that’s the case I should be ok.

Thoughts?

I noticed that too, everything still says that the Expo starts on Thursday, March 31, so since the race starts at 10PM the same date, I think they expect everyone to go to the expo the same day for the 5k (then nothing April 1, before 10k on April 2, and 10-miler on April 3)

That’s what I hope they mean, so then I don’t have to change anything. Not sure for certain though worries me. It looks fine, but can’t be sure.

You would have to be there the day before your event. If you have a race on Thursday, it would start at 5:00am, so you would need to
go to the expo on Wednesday to get your bib & shirt. You need to have your bib to officially run the race. By the schedule you have shown for the expo the first race must be on Friday.

The first race is on Thursday night.

I’m starting to think I won’t have to worry. I also found this on the website.

Sounds like a plan from the Airport to the Expo!

That is the plan! I am hoping I’m right though, and that information is accurate. It probably is and I’m just stressing myself out.

Since it does not appear they are having the expo on Wednesday, it seems it would be the only option.
Don't be stressed for your first in-person Disney races.

I have to say Disney does have a sick sense of humor for the challenge though. I know it is just a 5k, but you run a 5k at 10:00pm.
(A race the includes a scavenger hunt) You then run the 10k at 5:00am the next morning. Then the 10 miler the next day at 5:00am.
I don't know about you, but assume you finish the 5k in 30 minutes and probably get back to your resort by 11:00-11:30pm, and
have to be up and out by around 3:00am, to get to the start of another race. Good Luck challengers!

I thought this too but it’s not the case.

Their isn’t a race on April 1st for some reason.

So 5K & Expo Thursday
Skip Friday
Saturday 10K
Sunday 10 Miler

The DLP 5K is held on the Friday night of race weekend and most people arrive Friday during the day for bib pick up. I think you’ll be fine arriving mid day.

Idk how I feel about this. I’d rather the tower run at night personally. But the other themes do nothing for me. Prob skipping this one
Not doing it for me either. Bring back the Star Wars Rival Run or Dark Side or do an East Coast Light Side, too bad Marvel is not viable on the east coast. This, as presented, is weak.

I’m very surprised at some of the responses here. For me, this theming is perfect. Being park themed and combined with old races returning. This is again, coming from a huge Star Wars fan.
