runDisney Springtime Surprise Weekend

Have I told you lately that I 👍 you?
As my second suggestion on themes, I am extremely happy with this set. Not sure if I’ll do it in person (leaning toward it). But will definitely be participating in some form doing all races!

EDIT: All morning runs, and no break day like last year.
I like the morning runs!

Edit: Wait, that came out wrong... ;)

This is my assumption as well. Of course I know nothing but since it's already mapped out from this year's races...you never know though
While this may happen, I was pretty happy with the course for the 10-miler. As long as they keep the themed entertainment on the course. I really like the 1939 theme of the Tower of Terror 10-Miler. While heavy handed at times (we make fun of it all the time) it was fun and added some flair to the race.

Lots of opportunity to do some cool entertainment for these themes as well. I’ve wanted a pixar weekend for a long time.

The last races I ran in Cali celebrated Pixar. It was fun!

I just wish the ‘surprise’ was also with distances and challenges and not just theme. Give us a proper challenge like a 5K night, 10K next morning, and 10Miler same night. Or a 5K morning and Half Miler same night. Or any long distance at night. With an afterparty. SURPRISE US!

as someone who works for rD...please no :) I enjoy sleeping...sometimes.

I don't know if I'd assume the Cars 5K runs exclusively through DAK
Yep, while I think I personally would like the change of scenery, they have a ready-made 5K course at Epcot already and probably (with no Friday skip day this year) some extra motivation to not have to move everything from AK to Epcot in half a day while crowds of people are coming in and out of both parks.

I’ll be more (Springtime) surprised if all three aren’t based in Epcot.

EDIT: I checked the event descriptions (duh!), appears to be confirmed that all three will start in Epcot. So I think we can expect the typical Epcot 5K route and then likely the same/similar 10K and 10-miler routes from last year.

Good luck to everyone early registering for Springtime Surprise today. I still haven’t decided what I am going to do but leaning toward doing this in person.

Either way I‘ll be running all the races in some form.

Trying to gauge how popular registration will be on this.

Are we expecting the challenge to again sell out in 20-30 mins like last time? Looking to secure a spot in the challenge specifically. This is in reference to in person registration when I decide which route I am taking.

Haven’t seen anything about early registration today, did anyone register?

Disappointed that runDisney appears to have replaced the weekend jacket with the spirit jersey.

I’ll definitely be picking up some pre-purchase merch in that case.

Very disappointed to see no weekend jacket, maybe they have hoodies? During registration I’m going to go as fast as I can either way. How do you get back to this pre-purchase page AFTER you register?

Also happy we have PICTURES of what all this looks like.

EDIT: A little worried about actually securing a spot, but hopefully I’ll be able to I like this weekend’s set of themes.

Thanks for posting pics, been awhile since they’ve actually shown you what the merch looks like during pre-order! I’ll be adding to my shoe ornament collection 😁

Also, for those of us not in the upper tier Club rD, pre-ordering something can be an effective way to get in a shorter line to the general shopping area than standing in the general merch line. Unless they decide to change something with bringing presale back, once you’re past the ropes, you have access to all of the regular merch area and can shop for any other items before picking up your pre-order if you’re worried about something selling out quickly.

@Surferboy567 - I’m not personally the biggest Pixar guy, but never underestimate the popularity of those movies! I think historically there have been a good bit fewer spots in the spring races than marathon weekend, so even if there isn’t quite the volume of demand, they could go just as quick. Who knows what will actually happen, but to be safe, I’d recommend the same old advice: join the queue early on multiple devices and browsers, don’t fool with anything you can come back and fill in after registration is confirmed (proof of time and merchandise).

To get to presale merch after registration, log in and click on the options on the top left and click “Buy Products.” If you are registered for a race that has anything for sale, you can find it there.

I’d go back to look at merch as soon as possible after your registration goes through, because sometimes things sell out (for example- i was never able to get my hands on a magic band in time during Star Wars registrations back when that was the theme)

When registering for the race, after putting in all the IMPORTANT info, up pops the preorder merchandise. Ignore that. Get your race selection completed and paid for, then go back and order merchandise. As @Demarke noted, go back to your account main page, select "buy products" (you may have to select the option twice) and you'll see what's available for the race.

You don't want to miss getting registered because you were selecting merchandise to preorder.

I always preorder. And as preorder pickup is in the same location as race merchandise, I just walk over to that after getting my preorder.

But since I get early access....

I just realized I'll be on a cruise when general registration opens next Tuesday. Guess I'll have to see if I can register for Sunrise Yoga from a Disney cruise ship.
