runDisney returns to Disneyland in 2024

Disneyland / DCA are not open for business as all races are out of the parks by opening. There was no viewing inside the park on Main Street/ Buena Vista Street for the 5k/10k. You could purchase a viewing package for the Half Marathon that also came with some Merchandise to watch the race on Main Street or Buena Vista Street. Location varied each race. Since its not on the website or even a coming soon option I don't see them doing the pay version. There is always the Esplanade area between the two parks. It's a good option for the early risers that way your spectators still have time to make their way to the finish line.

But as all things are never constant with Disney its best to wait until the maps are made public especially with the new start area.
MK used to do a paid thing on Main Street too but no longer does yet still allows people in. It’s definitely possible they could do the same at DL. Like you said we won’t know until the guide is out.

At least I don’t have to feel too bad about choosing the wrong challenge (or trying to do both) because both are essentially the same and nowhere near as classy as the old ones. Oh well, at least I still get to go run the World and the Land in a couple of weeks! 😁

I started disliking Disney's recent medals before it was cool. They're cheap looking and uninspired.

That being said, I'm not surprised at this and it's my fault. I signed up for a Dumbo double dare... the year they changed the theme and the medal. I signed up for a wine and dine weekend... the year they changed rhe theme and medals. I signed up for a coast to coast.......

Here's my conspiracy theory :cautious:: Sometime around 2020, Wide World of Sports decided they would outsource runDisney medal design to the collector pin division and they've become less and less like classic, shiny race medals and more and more like enormous, cartoony character pins ever since. :cautious:

Luggage/travel themed medals. Look at this luggage medal design mockup from a challenge in CA this year. Has some character, looks like a suitcase, more care was put into this one likely by a volunteer with minimal design experience-

Heck look at these Disney 2017 Wine and Dine medals! Look at this luggage tag, the design and thought put into it. So much character and uniqueness! The title of the event is on the medal but not the purpose of the design. there's layers to this medal-

Look at this passport, how creative and interesting (if not a bit flat). Goodness though is it fun... has epcot character front and center, Mickey's signature... a nifty one-

Anyone have anything to report from the 10k? I was at the 5k... the pre race was a bit of chaos and poorly ran.

I know people's experiences can vary... but I encountered several CM's doing corral 'crowd control' who didn't know what a corral was.
