Yes, Jon is real as any of us. You can find him in Mrs. Peters' fourth grade science class at Clowne Elementary School in Anchorage, AK.

Didn't WDI once have a TRON attraction on the boards, but since the movie BOMBED, they scrapped the idea..

Is WDI so out of ideas that they would need to dig back into bad movies?

What is next, "Watcher in the Woods...the adventure" Or how about "Search for the BLACK HOLE"

:D :D

As far as I know, they were gonna have a tron arcade in epcot and pulled the idea. The movie didn't bomb, but wasn't overly successful. Did well enough for the studio at the time. Wwll enough that a sequel was writen, well enough that a Pc game was produced yeaers later, not to mention that the special edition DVD was a hot ticket. Tron had a couple of probelms, and probally still has. First is that it was misunderstood. No one really got it. Even the actors had a difficult time grasping the consept. Computer technology was still in it's infancy, and was fairly unfamiliar to the general populace as opposed to now everyone just about has a computer. And disney wasn't exactly popular with the youth or doing real well at all at the time, and to have a consept that's above everybodys head, tron was destined for mediocracy. Play the PC game that came out last year and you'll see the potencial. I definetly wouldn't base any tron attraction on the original movie. It could possibly provide the most ellborate setting created between the visual and sound effects involved. Definetly would be cool if your feet made taht sound every step in the tron universe (fans know what I'm talkin about).

I believe the sets and AA`s were moved, but the WDW building was constructed from scratch (the original DL building became America Sings, then offices, then Innoventions)

One of the major problems it seems is the carousell itself - the turntable weighs 375 tons, and it seems it isn`t as level as it used to be - something they found in the Dreamship Sequence in Journey into Imagination (I believe the JII turntable is still there, covered over with the present queue)

The TRON arcade never made it, I always thought a TRON attraction would be well suited to replace Dreamflight... they did however use the CG from the de-atomising sequence in the movie in the Peoplemover speedtunnel at DL, and one of the speed tunnels in the World of Motion.

All I know is Disney has the rights to build the Harry Potter Attractions. That is all I know.

Still remains to be seen if thats the case.....

Surely something would be reported in the news about any deal reached between Harry Potter (be it WB or Scholastic) and Disney. That's huge news! A Google News search for Harry Potter + Disney + attraction turned up nothing substantive. veryconfu

Which was a reason JII closed, and why Carousel of Progress is "sinking," needing a prop up every few years.

Let's see some progress at work with a better-type theatre constructed perhaps elsewhere. . .

I totally agree with you.
The speed way (as Jr. Autopia) belongs at Test Track.
And the transition from Tomorrowland and Fantasyland needs to be a smooth one.
My favorite idea is a combination of DLP's Discoveryland, TDS's Mysterious Island and the unbuilt Discoverybay.
This would be the literal blending of Science Fiction and Fantasy.

I hope you are right unless DisneySea has a future at WDW as a seperate gate. If not your idea would be great and would really make the park perfect IMO.

Funny thing... nothing says it has to be reported to the news. And honestly, I don't believe Disney has all the rights they need to build yet. The have some, but not all. At least that's what I think.

With regaurds to the CoP there may have been some confusion here. It was only a POSSIBILITY that the tomorrowland attaction "Meet the World" in Tokyo Disneyland, is like in it's own way, the carousel of progress, that closed not too long ago, and was rumored to be moved to Epcot, not the other way around.

Also with the CoP, yes Marni is right! It is not well known that actually all 3 locations of the CoP have had different theaters and buildings.

When the carousel moved to disneyland, the giant GE Pavilion could not be saved, nor it's theater. They built a new theater with more wheel chair areas, but the theater still rotated clock wise.

Now this is only an urban legend I heard years ago that in the 1970s the construction workers made some mistake and caused the new carousel to rotate counter clock wise, causing the interior workers to place all the stages in the opposite directions, also the kaleidphonic screen shattered on it's way to florida, and thus since the carousel opened in WDW we have had a shimmering silver screen in the intro and conclusion.

The disneyland carousel pavilion later house "America Sings", and while it is now "Innoventions", the carousel platform still rotates the exhibits, and I think it still rotates clock wise.

The carousel pavilion and the ride itself need help. It does sink, and the pavilion is really wasted space and too large. What ever happens to the carousel, wether it go to Epcot, or is refirbished in tomorrowland, a new theater needs to be thought up. Magnetics, and light wait materials with comfy seats would be nice.:king:

Grizz is right - Meet The World originally was designed for Japan at EPCOT Center. I`ve heard two stories - both pointing to an error during the Pavillion construction behind Japan - that although the foundation was poured these structural errors meant MTW was simply cancelled (colossal budget overuns at EPCOT Center meant nothing could be done) and sent over to Tokyo ready for the opening of TDL the following year.

Chicago was built on a swamp. Disney will have no trouble building whatever they want where 20k was.
