don't be surprised to see the tiers go away with additional FP's being offered (for a cost or for those staying on site) in the future
Tiers going away I like. More FPs for all I like, in whatever way they implement (maybe 3 in advance, then more day of, or 3 at one park in advance and 3 more at another park when you get there -- whatever). More FPs for more money, I hate. I don't want a system where those with more money get shorter lines in the parks. I like that Disney generally treats all park guests the same, unlike Six Flags, Uni, and everybody else who let you buy your way out of lines.

I agree, I don't like any system that creates definite tiers or classes of guests that visit the parks...I've read the posts of people who think it's fine and they are entitled to their feelings and opinions but I just think the culture of a company that does that is kind of....in general greedy, unfair, prejudicial, exploitive, and sure isn't going to build or maintain my loyalty in their brand.

Remember we are not supposed to call this a test anymore even though they are testing new and better ways of offering FP+....test;)
They don't dare NOT call it a test. That is the big joke, that it is still being referred to across the board as a test. Whenever there are complaints, CMs are trained to specifically refer to it as a test and that they will advance concerns during the test period.

The tiers have been more of a problem for Tier 2 than Tier 1.

Tower of Terror and Mission Space have been the first attractions to run out of fastpasses for DHS and Epcot most days. This is becoming much more troublesome than the Tier 1 attractions running out. In fact, one of the Tier 1 attractions at each park (Test Track/Sorin and R&R/TSMM) are lasting well into the afternoon most days. Additionally, NOBODY wants the Fantasmic fastpasses. After the big Tier 1's run out, guests are not pleased with only having 2 Tier 2s and Fantasmic or Malestrom.

Yep and boy do they want to tell you how to do all this MM stuff and FP+ stuff when you call them up to book something outside a resort stay or a dining reservation. But only the resort reservation, the ADR or the FP+ even will link to your itinerary. So book BBB or Pirates and Pals and it's all still a manual confirmation. They have so much to still write or link in this software cloud. I can't even believe they decided to start rolling it out before they had more together with the resort and park and dvc databases linked. Even to me, no IT experience at all, this is sloppy sloppy sloppy.

In one of testing phases people reported getting 3 FP+ and then occasionally a 4th, it seemed be similar to the "Surprise Fast Pass" that you'd get from the original legacy/paper machines

We ran into that with a recreation reservation.

Yea I disagree 100% and I'm staying at a deluxe in 3 weeks. I've been able to afford a deluxe my last few trips but always saw it as a waste of $ since we only shower and sleep at the resort but this next trip is a family trip and they chose the Poly. I personally like the fact that once you're on the bus or monorail everyone is equal, doesn't matter of you're paying $99/night for a value room or $999/night for a deluxe suite.

What I do think would be a good plan and make WDW money is giving everyone the standard 3 FP+ per day but then offering 3 more for $10 or a low fixed cost if you want it.

I thought that you paid for the amenities your resort offerered, and the tickets for the parks were a separate issue. If I decided to stay at Pop just to have a bed and a bathroom, and someone wanted to stay at the Grand Floridian and what it offers in that resort, both 6 day park hoppers and fast pass privileges cost the same and should be equal. Should my park ticket if I stay at Pop take second place to the identical park ticket to someone staying at the Grand Floridian?

If they are charging 7-10x more for the room, why not? It is Disney's resort. They can do as they please. If you don't like it, you could pay more for the better amenities. Disney already does this on a micro scale when they offer free dining. It is CS at values and TS at Moderate and above.

Universal is doing the same thing just down the road. Then new value resort does not include Express Pass. If you want Express Pass, you pay for it or upgrade your resort.

One cannot blame Disney for building a better vacation for their top customers. This isn't vacation socialism.

Oh believe me I view it as a test...

In the Spirits most recent thread there is an ongoing debate that Disney should not be calling this a test at all. That seems to be the overriding theme, in that thread. So I was making a tongue in cheek comment ;) Gladly it seems not all have the same mindset...
As you can tell, I usually ignore when the "Spirit" posts, save for finding a few specific things. The arrogance is very grating to me, and I just can't take the debate and negativity that it stirs up.

Additionally, NOBODY wants the Fantasmic fastpasses.

F! fastpasses would actually be valuable (not as much as TSMM or RNR, but still useful) is it went back to the guaranteed reserved seating -- similar to the dining package -- that it initially had with FP+. Being able to arrive closer to showtime with the ability to know you have seats with a good view would be something.

OF course, the current set up for Fantasmic! FP+ is worthless.

So, am I reading this right....are guests with future stays (i.e. March) able to login to MDE today and edit their EC and DHS FP+ reservations to include more than one Tier 1 attraction per day?

Yep. Was just able to do it. Previously, on my first day, I had Maelstrom (Tier 1), Spaceship Earth (Tier 2) and Nemo and Friends (Tier 2 - really?). Anyway, just changed Nemo to Test Track. Now I have Spaceship Earth at 10:00-11:00, TT 11:00 - 12:00 and and Maelstrom 1:10-2:10 on my first day. Now on to modify my second day. . .

As to my second day, I had Soarin at 10:00-11:00, Living with the Land 11:00-12:00 and Turtle Talk (sigh) at 3:00-4:00. My family has ADRs at LeCellier at 7:05pm. Just changed the third FP+ to Illuminations.

We just logged in and updated our Epcot and DHS days for our upcoming March 2-7 stay. We are MUCH happier with our FP+ itineraries now.

Not only did we change some "wasted" attractions to Tier 1, but we also found that many more time windows were open. When we first booked them, an even hour was impossible to get. This time, we were able to shift them around to 900-1000/1000-1100/1100-1200, instead of them being scattered throughout the day.

This is a major step in the right direction.
