RUMOR WATCH: Indiana Jones stuntshow on the chopping block ?

I've heard rumblings that maintenance staff has been told not to invest too much more in fixing effects with Indy. So, if everyone starts noticing effects no longer working or an "Effect Watch" thread pops up, I think that we can agree that the rumors might be true.

One thing that seems almost certain is either LMA or Indy is next on the attractions to close at Studios to make way for something big. Either (or both) will happen in 2015, time will only tell.

DHS used to be one of my favorite parks because of the random interactions with the CM's, Now it's just a hollow shell. The buzz says 'something big is coming', I'm an engineer and I deal in cold hard facts, The fact is attractions have closed and NOTHING has been announced to replace them, Therefore my working assumption based on official data is that there is NOTHING planned for the immediate future.

The technology industry has a term for what's going on at DHS it's called 'Vaporware' lots of buzz, rumors fanboi speculation but in the end it's just an ethereal dream.

Will there be something in the next 5-10 years, probably. But right now If I were a betting man I think an in-park DVC is more likely than new attractions.

My 0.02 YMMV
Vaporware does not mean what you think it means. It does not stand for something that has buzz and rumors about a possible announcement. It's basically the inverse. Vaporware means some amazing thing that's been announced but never is going to come out. It would be like Disney announcing the big re-do of DHS and never following through, but, always promising it's coming.

Yes - I am skeptical about all DHS expansions until they release details. But, should the area be called LucasLand, surely this would involve Star Wars and Indy - otherwise they would just call it Star Wars land?
I have a feeling if it's anything more than StarWars, they'll can it LucasFilm (LucasLand sounds egotistical, even if he personally doesn't have much to do with it). They may come up with another name than just "Star Wars Land" if they only do Star Wars, but we'll see.

If they did decide to do it more as a LucasFilm area, i'd love to se something from Amerian Graffiti thrown in there. Not a ride of course, but possibly a nod to the film. I would say Mel's Drive in would be perfect, but Universal already has that, and I don't think they can force them to change the theme either since Mel's is based off of a real place.

There should be only ONE name in any Disney park - and that is Walt's name, whether his first or his last. No Lucasland. Nuh-uh. Forget it! Nobody else should get his name blazoned on a land in WALT DISNEY WORLD. NOBODY.

I would love for RnRC to be replaced or heavily rethemed.
It will need to change eventually and at a time when they are investing in the park seemingly so heavily, it couldn't be a better time.

Aerosmith is timeless as far as much of their music goes, which is why I assume they haven't made much attempt to change it yet, but the band has been fading fast since the attraction opened. I'd love for them to, as you said, heavily retheme it somehow, maybe not even need to involve music as a theme. Make it like Space Mountain in Disneyland where you just have on-board audio to go along with the theming of the ride. That's basically what the ride is now, but i'd wish for all aerosmith/music studios stuff to be removed and some heavy theming to be added so the on-board audio effect like DL's SM would work fine for the ride.

It's pretty hard to miss it. Everyone noticed probably.

I didn't catch, but that's because I had the good sense not to watch that film in the first place.

Yes - Lucasland would fit better. Then there could be Star Wars and Indy. I can see that happening! That would also give DHS a bit more structure - Pixarland on one side, and Lucasland on the other.

Throw in a little Monkey Island and I'm sold!

I've given this some thought- who's a (relatively) younger band who's both big enough and has enough recognizable songs that are either family friendly or easy enough to clean up and would work well in a roller coaster? Foo Fighters seem like a good bet. Possibly Green Day, though their "cleanest" hits are also a bit slower on the tempo side.

Green Day could work, but as I posted above you, the ride could change theme entirely and not even need to rely on a band. It could be similar to DLP's SM... focusing on heavier theme, the launch at the beginning, while having an on-board score that fits the tone of the ride.

Yeah, but I like the rock 'n roll aspect.

My problem with it is it's so out of theme on Sunset. I'd love to see them, in an expansion of the animation courtyard space, open up a walkway that would be the new entrance to RNRC. Completely remove access to it from Sunset.

I'm not sure if you can visualize what i'm saying, but over by animation courtyard, there's a bit of expansion room, part of which i'd like to see a path created that goes to RNRC and be the new entrance.

No, no, I get what you're saying. On the other hand, it's not the only out of place thing there- after all, when I think of "Golden Age of Hollywood", Disney's Beauty & the Beast is not the first thing to come to mind.

Yeah, I don't honestly see "LucasLand" as any more than a fan label.

Given the studios existing naming structure, it would likely be multiple individual but connected locations - I'm too tired to actually think creatively at the moment, so ignore these (they aren't actual suggestions), but along the lines of Temple Avenue for an Indy area, and something like Star Wars broken up into multiple areas - like Tatooine Station and Endor Forest.

I don't think you'll see Lucas' name in any of it.

I personally would like to see LMA gone. its next to the back lot tour and the area could be used for that expansion

This is not quite accurate. Aerosmith is packing arenas nationwide on their Let Rock Rule tour...and they are rocking it out. I saw it. :-D

Nice sentiment, however in todays world, completely unrealistic.

Yeah, but I like the rock 'n roll aspect.

I think just making it more generic music industry based, instead of being tied to a specific band, could work. I'd love a ride that went through different genres and eras - rock 'n' roll, country, motown, punk, grunge, rap... admittedly the ride is too short for more than a few seconds of each, but it might be cool.

At this point it would make much more sense for them to keep Indy open. If they are doing a Pixar expansion, and the current closings, rumors of SS1, and the sighting of top execs spotted around that area of the park all point to it, then it makes more sense for them to keep Indy open as a current people eater. That way they can close the car stunt show and work on building out Pixar Land. Then, when that new land/area is open and you have more rides for the public, you close Indy and everything around echo lake for a Star Wars/Lucas expansion. Can't close everything at the same time and expect crowds to still show up...

Don't they have a roller coaster ride at (....Universal...shhhh) where you get to pick who you listen to as you ride? Or did I make that up? Would be cool if you could choose your own soundtrack. The only part that screams Aerosmith is the pre-show and that could be changed to be more generic and vague. Just a thought
