Actually that is a misconception. After doing research of my own I have found that the calendar only predicts the end of an age. It does not predict gloom and doom and death.

Haven't you ever watched a bad episode of Weird Travels on Travel Channel?

(In short: I was using sarcasm...Don't tell Michael Bay though, he's making a movie about it.)

WDW's 40th anniversary will be celebrated 2011–2012. Rumors will increase by then, with some being true and others, false.

The American dollar is projected to be on top again by then. Disney isn't afraid of the economy.

Much of what's being kicked around online is based on fact.

It all points to one thing...... good times are indeed ahead. :sohappy:

Maybe UAE could be the next to be added to World Showcase, they have the money and the in spending on tourism etc....

I would think Russia could make a very interesting pavilion, but alas there current attitude and behavior leads to this most likely never happening.

Australia and Africa would be two interesting pavilions also, however they would be better suited in AK.

Who knows, one thing is sure tho "There's a great big beautiful tomorrow, shining at the end of every day"

Actually (OT, I know....sorry!), I went to Belize this summer and went to some of the Mayan ruins, and someone asked our tour guide about all of this--- and she said that while the calendar does end, they actually don't believe the world is going to come crashing down or whatever else... I'm not positive where that "rumor" started though..... anyways, I was surprised to hear that and figured I'd share my new knowledge with anyone else who might care...

Sorry, resume your conversation!

The astronomer Philip Plait has stated very clearly that the Mayan calendar does not end in 2012 at all, that it is like the odometer on your car, as each section of the odometer reaches 9 and then clicks over to 0, the next number to it starts a new cycle, so that when all the numbers again reach 0 all the way across the odometer - the last number will change from 1 to 2 and the new cycle starts all over again.

From what I understand it is the start of a new age..I believe Aquarius..weeee back to your scheduled rumor mill talkings.
