The ride and movie were made to promote each other. The main reason Animal Kingdom got Dinoland and not Beastly Kingdom is because they had a big dinosaur movie in production.
Incorrect.

A "dinosaur land" was always planned in tandem with Beastly. A ride thru dinosaur attraction was in planning before DAK broke ground along with Beastly.

Imagination! A fun look back at inspirational Inventors such as Da Vinci, Franklin, Tesla, Wright Bros, etc. and how they used their...Imagination...to come up with some of the greatest inventions of all time. Also some little-known silly facts. Hosted by Figment and DreamFinder of course. No IP's needed in EPCOT Center's Future World.

You'd think it would be that simple...but let's not forget who's calling the shots here.

My prediction: the "new" version of Imagination will include an IP. The only question is whether it will stay Figment or something far lesser.

That "What will they think of next?" tweet? Ignore it. It's Clickbait Clueless trying to drive traffic to his site and using D&F to do it.

Dreamfinder & Figment absolutely should appear on October 1. Even better, they should appear on October 2, 3, 4, 5, etc... and eventually appear again in the ride in the pavilion. :D

Yeah, so how did that work? I know the Carnataurus has been there since the beginning, and I assume the Iguanodon, but did the movie's Dino choices inspire the ride while they were both in pre production? And if so, why was the ride originally titled Coundown to Extinction? And wouldn't these Dinosaur choices be made far in advance for the ride to make the animatronics? I'm really curious, I don't know a lot about the ride's beginnings.
The art book for the movie almost seems to suggest CTX was actually one of the working titles tossed around for the project.

Tom Corless is WDW News Today, not WDW Today.

Posts like he just posted about a casino are why people don't take Ford seriously.

Sorry it upsets you but the modern public corporation will always use the most efficient means of generating revenue and alcohol and gaming are the most efficient means per square foot.

Disney cares about one thing and one thing only and thats Gross Margin,

The only reason they are against gaming in FL they have not figured out how to lock the big boys out because once Harrahs, Wynn etc are in its now a bidding war with the FL legislators for influence

Once they figure out how to keep the big dogs out they will be all in for gaming in FL

I'm still sitting out here hoping Disney will make the right call and make the Imagination pavilion great again by bringing back Dreamfinder and of course, keeping Figment.

Side note, I've been trying to find the Imagination pavilion dedication/grand opening video. I found CC, UoE, and SSE but haven't been able to find Imagination. Does anyone know if there's a copy out there? Or should I patiently wait for Martins (new) Imagination video?

Yes, but when it came to budget time and one of the lands had to be moved to phase 2, Beastly Kingdom got bumped and Dinoland got to stay because of the Dinosaur movie tie-in.

If they can bring Hatbox Ghost back, they can bring back Dreamfinder. Despite the fact Hatbox is one figure, but it's the large investment in nostalgia that can be achieved.
The problem is that Dreamfinder is rather on the creepy side. Figment is cute but Dreamfinder has that con man vibe about him.
