Rumor confirmations

I thought I had heard this would be for CA, not FL. I would love to see a major refurb of WDW's Torrowland...but it sure doesn't seem like the suits see anything wrong with it. I will hold out hope though...and at the very least...get rid of Stitch already...
Yeah I think Iger announced Disneyland's Tommorrowland will get a refurb and maybe WDW'S but I do hope they will consider refurbing WDW'S Tommorrowland.

Forgive me, but I'm not "up on it" when it comes to tracking every little rumor so forgive me if these have already been settled in the "community."

1. When the Grand Floridan Spa reopens, the spa at Saratoga Springs will be closing for a similar refurb.

2. The "glow ears" from World of Color will be incorporated into MK's nighttime entertainment.

3. Avatar Land WILL make DAK a full-day park and feature a nighttime spectacular.

4. Avatar Land will feature a "flex" restaurant similar to "Be Our Guest" that is quick-service by day, table service by night.

5. Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom will be "locked" on easy mode until September at the earliest. This is due to overcrowding of the portals, not technical issues.

6. The next "articulated character" to be developed is Beast. The "core" characters have articulated heads at Dream Along With Mickey and other stage shows. Baloo and King Louie also have articulated heads on the cruise ships.

7. River Country/Ft. Wilderness DVC has been cancelled.

8. Major changes coming to DHS sooner rather than later. Details are fuzzy but some old blueprints have risen from the ash heap of WDI.

9. Decisions HAVE been made regarding Downtown Disney. I don't know what those decisions are, but I'm told an announcement won't be far off.

Any updates on these semi-confirmed rumors? DHS changes? DD news? When will the glow ears make their way to Florida and for what?

I keep holding out hope I'll check the boards one day and there will be a juicy rumor about the studios. Glad I'm not holding my breath.

I know!! It's gotta be next, right??? I try and remain optimistic that no news means something big is coming. If there was news all the time, it would be little refurbs here and there. When I hear nothing it makes me think that they're on the brink of something amazing!! I hope so anyway...

The problem for me is that the park has SO MUCH POTENTIAL!! They could run a million different directions with it. It's basically a clean slate. I would love for it to get a Pixar overhaul (whatever that might mean). I would also love for it though to incorporate more of the Disney Channel shows - like have duplicate sets from the shows for the kids to see that this is how it's done. The park could potenially be the best "generation friendly" park if they play their cards right. They've arleady got adult (Star wars, indiana jones, GMR), pixar could be for the littles, and a Disney Channel themed area could be for those teenie boppers.

I just hope we hear something big soon!!

Thanks for setting me straight.

haha I guess I have that same crappy sense of humor I thought Jimmy's post was kind of amusing, but not that I thought the questions being asked didn't have merit I just see some of his responses as poking all of us to say hey don't take it all too serious all you OCD disney fans

I agree with a vast majority of your post. I think that the only thing that has me a bit worried is the bolded above. I feel that a lot of the entertainment on Disney Channel is so "flash in the pan" that as soon as you built an area to showcase some of the teen-based shows, those shows / people would be already gone and moved along. Just think if they started building a Hanna Montana / Jonas Brothers attraction, they would be out of the public eye by the time they finished construction. It seems to me that even as it stands, with the Disney Jr. attraction, at least 1 of the shows highlighted is one that has already been moved out for other shows.

Now, if they wanted to get this demographic group and use the "Studios" part, I would think that an easy solution would be to move production of some/all of their live-action shows to DHS and let visitors be a part of the tapings, kind of a live-studio-audience. I think that this has been done in the past at the Universal parks (Maybe even at MGM, I can't remember as this was never something that would have interested me personally), but it could be a way to keep the working studio feel in DHS and keep the pre-teen folks entertained. I'm sure that logistically there is probably a reason that both Universal and DHS does not do something like this already, so I'm sure there are folks out there that can tell me why this wouldn't work. It's just the first thing I could think of where you could keep up with the fast paced change in teenage tastes, but still include part of the Disney Channel / Disney XD "brands" in DHS.

As time marches on, I am growing more skeptical of the majority of the interesting rumors on the list. Some or obvious. Some are like throwing crap at the wall and seeing what sticks. I am not getting a sense of anything of any real substance coming to DHS anytime soon, DTD - well...who knows what is happening with that mess, and most of the other rumors just seem quite obvious...

Attractions aren't necessarily the problem at DHS, it has lost its magic in 50% of the park.

Yeah, the BAH is part of the problem. It amazes me how they fixed the entrance to DCA but all they need to do to bring some of the magic back is get rid of that stupid hat. That and there is just so many dead spots in that park and shows that need to be updated or replaced. Do we really still need a LM and BATB show in the parks. At the bare minimum LM needs to go once the ride opens.

The new Mickey Mouse Club actually had a live studio audience and was filmed on the soundstage that (I think and correct me if I'm wrong) is empty beside TSMM now. You used to be able to go on a tour and see the set. I wanted sooo badly to go to a taping because it was my favorite show EVEr when I was younger but they were never filming when we were there.

Semi-major update on DHS (IMO).

My understanding up until now had been that the Backlot was the target for this project that's being kicked around behind the scenes. Basically, the Backlot is ALWAYS being kicked around behind the scenes. Specific plans at this time seem to be focusing on the plot that currently houses LMA.

So..LMA is on the chopping block?

Backlot seems like the more obvious choice since Lights, Motors, Blah is relatively new.

If your info is good it sounds like they are pretty early in the design process. Switching focus and sites... screams concept.

What is the attendance like at LMA?

It seems odd with LMA being on the chopping block unless there is a huge difference in popularity since I saw LMA and the popularity of the 2nd showing isn't that good compare to the first showing. I went to LAMA once. The time I went either late August/early September of 2007 or 2008 with it being the first showing of the day. It was very crowded based on what I remembered. I thought the show was a crowd eater matter of fact at the time. The show was not good enough to me to see the show the second time.

The other thing is a cars 2 segment was added in 2011 for trying to keep the show fresh. That means the show is still fresh unless a lot of people decided not to see Lights Motor Action a 2nd time.
