Putting some things together, here's a far out one... which has some basis in solid insider info... but could still be way wrong...:

An overhaul of Rivers of America: Not getting rid of the RoA in the MK, but altering it in the following ways:

1. Stop river traffic and build bridges.
2. Turn Riverboat to Tiana's Restaurant permanently moored.
3. Add Theater north of BTM in current wooded area.
4. Add Haunted Mansion restaurant... somewhere... maybe in wooded area north of HM?

Sources:
  • "A makeover for Magic Kingdom’s Frontierland that would end boat traffic on the Rivers of America, turning the Liberty Belle into a stationary Tiana themed restaurant, adding a new bridge to the Island and adding at least one attraction (most likely an indoor performance arena or theater) over beyond Big Thunder Mountain Railroad." [The Disney Blog]
  • Although, @marni1971 says a new theater has nothing to do with RoA. Although, he doesn't deny a new theater. [Here]
  • "Broadway Style Show Theater - Rumor - (7/11/17) Screamscape sources tell us that an interesting new project was put into development for the Magic Kingdom, that would add a large scale Broadway style show theater into the park, specifically it would go somewhere into Frontierland. I’m not exactly sure where in Frontierland they were planning on dropping in a large venue like that, but you can count on it probably changing the face of Frontierland as you know it. If it were to go into a backstage area, possibly behind Big Thunder for example, there would have to be some infrastructure changes made to make way for it, especially since the maintenance shed for the Big Thunder Mountain trains sits hidden back there. I suppose it could also be installed back where the Parade floats are staged and stored as well, but again… they would have to find somewhere else to move them that would allow for the parade route to still be used. No matter where they put it, in park or backstage, you can count on the first signs of construction being the construction of some new replacement facilities for some of the existing infrastructure that will have to be removed to make way. If the timeline holds true and we see this thing built and ready to open by 2019… I’d say that construction would have to begin sometime within the next 6-9 months." [Here from Screamscape]
  • "let me again spell out that a new Haunted Mansion eating venue/experience is coming to the MK" [Here from @WDW1974 ]
  • And here is @marni1971 possibly hinting that the HM Restaurant is indeed coming. [Here.]

Let me also throw out that @dcharacternews made first mention of this on 7/8...

Wow. Now that's fascinating. That's a lot of room back there.

20 years is a long time (especially when you consider that Magic Kingdom has only been opened for 45 years). It took Disneyland a little over 60 years to build such that you could walk completely around their RoA so it shouldn't be that surprising that in the same time frame Magic Kingdom would utilize the same (respective) area.

Nope. No HM restaurant hint. Though if you can't walk all the way around RoA in 20 years I'd be surprised.

Rumblings (Screamscape) have indicated that a possible Haunted Mansion hotel may be (back?) in the works possibly based on the success of the (possible) Star Wars hotel... any thoughts on that?
