it may be enabling the stupid, but one of them is near a middle school and when I saw a 12 year old be care flighted out because of people not knowing how to use the stupid roundabout , I knew it was time to get rid of them.
If we follow that same logic, we should also get rid of cars as well as people have repeatedly shown that they can not always safely operate them.

As my fore fathers said: "If you don't like how I drive stay off the side walk!" or words to that effect.:angelic: I will always support use of the right tool to fix the problem.

That's a backwards way of looking at the situation. Rather than getting rid of the roundabout, maybe police it and hand out points to people who aren't getting it right. Let the word spread and watch the problem magically go away. It's an education and enforcement problem, not a design problem.

While theoretically I agree with you, I don't think that's the solution for WDW. I'm a civil engineer, so I definitely know the traffic-flow benefits of a roundabout, but unfortunately also the reality of people not being able to deal with them.

Installing them in a place like WDW, where I'd say the majority of the people there aren't familiar with the road layout as they don't drive there often, plus the tendency to 'check out' mentally while on vacation would not be a good combination for mass-implementation of traffic circles. I actually think the generally highway and road layout at WDW works pretty well, especially once the flyover by the TTC Lot entrance is completed ( I haven't been since March, can't remember if they've finished it since then)

Study after study shows roundabouts to be safer. You signed a petition that wants more people to get hurt.
Studys are not life. I have seen real life, There is a wreck at least once a week and most of them are bad. I don't know where these "studies" were taken, but they don't hold up. My town is a relatively small town and the amount of accidents caused by people not knowing how to navigate these roundabouts is insane. For a town of about 50,000 there were a total of 62 accidents on the roundabouts in 2018 and I think probably more this year, and from those accidents just what I know about we have a women who lost her leg from the knee down, a high school senior that went into a coma on her way to her high school graduation who has had to literally relearn everything from walking to talking, a very promising 12 year old baseball pitcher who's arm is shattered and may never play baseball again, and worse of all the guy an the motor cycle that was killed instantly. Sorry doe not sound very safe to me.

TL;DR: Your town is literally idiot America.

I'm sorry those people were hurt but that doesn't mean your community should remain in the proverbial stone age.

Well I care more about people than a stupid round about, and when one of the roundabouts used to be a four way stop I don't remember their being any wrecks. I don't know why you think roundabouts are so advanced, most of the ones around DFW were very old and are being replaced for being obsolete.

Because I know how to use them?

Studies of what happens are life. They do things like count how often something happens in life. Everything you describe happens with stop signs and the overwhelming odds are it happens more frequently.

So to get at the nuts and bolts of your idea... I should sacrifice my life so that in the long run people can be educated about something they may never fully understand? Sounds reasonable.
Exactly, we should sacrifice our lives because someone has an odd love for roundabouts? No thank you ? An the response about just as many accidents happen at stop signs, no where these stupid things are used to have four way stops and I can not recall a single accident. I'm for replacing both with lights.

Again, overwhelmingly roundabouts are safer. You are choosing to sacrifice your life for the comfort of familiarity.

Memory is faulty. We do not note the expected. Roundabouts are new and unfamiliar so you pay more attention and then blame problems on them while not applying the same standard to stop signs where accidents are just accepted as part of driving.

I mean if you want to be the one to drive the wrong way in a roundabout, have at it?

There's also a risk of being hit by lightning in a thunderstorm so it would be best to never ever go outside.

It only takes one idiot, you don't even have to be in a roundabout for something bad to happen. Safer to just stay inside.
