Is this meant to cater to convention people staying at Coronado? I cannot believe that Coronado Springs would be high on anyone's list as a place to go for this type of entertainment.

One would have to assume so. Very interesting and surprising news.

Hey --

What do you mean? Adult entertainment has always done well with the help of some Disney magic! Remember the first adult theme park DCA? A HIT! The adult zone of pleasure island -- no need to have changed up anything there -- its a bona-fide success.

Hot nightspots?! Move over Vegas, Disney is about to enter a new market segment!!

I'm such the beeyotch.

Strangely enough, the only time i'd really take "Nightlife" into account on a Disney trip is for NYE - and i'll be at Coronado for that vacation. I guess Disney stalks me as much as I stalk them ;)

If you are referring to DCA (Disney's California Adventure) as being a hit, then I greatly disagree. The park in its current form is so so, not up to Disney standards and severely lacking in imagineering. Thus, DCA is being overhauled and re-imagined into a hopefully better experience. From what i have read, it looks to be better.

Yeah, Pleasure Island was/is successful. Of course, its success had to be fading, hence the makeover there.

If this lounge was at the Boardwalk or downtown, then I would say it would be successful. But at Coronado Springs???. Maybe I will be wrong, it just seems to be geared toward the conventioners staying there.

FYI: The quick service is open to midnight, the lounge is open later.

Had a blueberry pastry saturday morning and the pistachio gelato saturday evening after getting back from epcot. The gelato was very, very yummy!

Actually it will attract all of those convention goers. Often they have very little freetime and when they do it's late at night and too late to go to the parks. And on our trip in September we had someone who turned 21 the night before we left but we were at MNSSHP. It would have been great back then to come back to something like this. I'm glad they put something in like this.

A relative of mine is the general manager here. He just moved over from Alfredo's and I know he'll do a great job here too. I'm sure this will get a lot of convention center business.

A quick INFO addition:

When you buy something from the Rix quick service on a debit or credit card it appears as "Cheesecake Factory Lake Buena Vista" for some reason in your account online. I had two entries from there when I got home tonight and looked online and the receipt from saturday breakfast and late night snack matched up perfectly totals wise.

Just an FYI so nobody freaks out if they see that....

my comment was sarcastic. Disney has no business doing adult oriented entertainment.

On the plus side, I've never wanted to actually 'come back' to eat at a moderate resort's quick service. . . Those salads looked amazing!

Just came back from Disney World and stayed at Coronado Springs. The Rix Cafe has good breakfast sandwiches. I have not been at Rix. I think this should be in Pleasure Island or the Boardwalk. I wish Coronado Springs would replace Pepper Market with a Food Court like the All Star Resorts / Pop Century because I don't like the way that you have servers sitting you and not waiting on you because it's just counter service.

Over on the PI thread, a few people have suggested that the PI clubs be moved to the resorts. So now we have a club opening at a resort, and people are saying it belongs at PI!! Those poor Disney suits probably have their heads spinning.

I, for one, am always happy when Disney tries something new (for Disney). Maybe it'll work, maybe it won't, but I'm happy to see the attempt, even though "House Music" isn't exactly my style (and many would say that "stylish dress" isn't my style either!).

Tapas and gelato, on the other hand, sound like great ideas. Spoodles was great when it opened and focused on tapas. I was sad (but not surprised) to see it changed.

As for the Pepper Market, I really hope it sticks around. There are gazillion food courts that are just like each other, with no originality at all. The Pepper Market is different, interesting, and the food is actually good and has some variety. It is the only WDW food court that I really enjoy eating at.

Really? cause that resort has alot of adult traffic that is not a "typical" disney crowd. If they keep their partying at their resor it keeps them off the streets plus I think disney has every right to tap into any market they can. Its not like they are trying to open a strip club.

TRUTH! Glas someone else agrees with me

I see people complain on here all the time about the layout and how they charge gratuity but i have to say the food is superior to the cood court food that i have had at the other moderates and leaps and bounds better than the all stars. The gratuity charge is the only thing that bugs me but I usually take my food outside anyway or back to the room.

I'll second that motion...

The food court at CS is unique, both in its serving style and the food served there. All the meals I have had there have always been great and I enjoy the idea that it is "an open market." Not everything at the world needs to be the same quick service cheeseburger and chicken strips. :brick:

The automatic gratuity is a big turn off for a lot of folks though. I know it isn't a huge deal, but it seems like 10% added to your ticket for basically nothing.

Nothing? They get your drinks and carry away your dishes! Not much different than a server in any other restaurant ~ and only at 10%. That will be cheap compared ot the auto 18% gratuity taking effect next week for DDE members.

If Pepper's Market was a full service restaurant, then I can justify the wait staff giving you drinks and taking your dishes away. But for counter service where you have to get up and get your own dishes, no way! Not worth the extra money that you spend on food to pay for the extra wait staff. The food is not that more superior to what I see in the counter service in parks. I'd say cut the prices of food in the market, elminate the automatic gratuity and get rid of the wait staff. I can get my own drinks and throw my own food in the trash can. I see no problems with this system in the park and in the other food courts. However, I still see people at the parks and other food courts that just leave leave their trash on the table expecting someone else to pick it up when there is a trash can less than a foot away. That's just plain laziness.
