I'm a big fan of River country......

I know its a murky lake with like 4 water slides.. not even......but it was still a place to go to escape the disney crowds and get cooled off......

Blizzard Beach and Typhoon lagoon were always crowded and took foreva to get a tube for a ride

I might have heard the rumor on this site.....so sry if this is a repeated thing....

Is it really gone for good....it was closed for the winter I think....

It is closed for all of 2002. But it is not proven that it will be closed forever. If you ask you will get a bunch of different responses and opinions. I think that it will open in 2003.

I haven't heard about this rumour, and I also think that there's no truth behind that story.

Weird thing is that if it were to open.....I trust your words........Disney's webite "deleted" the rivercountry link when you click for water parks.....

to me...seems like a bad sign....:(

They probably just did this because it's going to be closed for some longer time.

I hate to burst your bubble, but River Country has been closed for a few years now. It is small and obsolete. Once Typhoon Lagoon opened, the crowds there thinned out. There's no way they could have been making money on it. I would not expect to see it open any time soon, and I have not heard any rumors as to any improvements being made. It's on a fairly small piece of ground, there really isn't anywhere to grow.

Uhh when I was there in August River Country was open and very crowded. So I don't really know what you are talking about.

I went to River Country at least 10 times the summer of 2001 and it did not close until Sept 2. It gets very crowded and the tube ride line get very long. I even have seen where they put up the sign in the fort wilderness parking lot that River Country is closed due to capacity.

Ok let me set the record straight....

1.) First of all River Country did not close until mid-Sept. (I know because I was there)

2.) River Country will be closed for all of 2002

3.) A friend at WDW said that it is not closed for good. He heard that Disney is trying to figure out to do with it. He said they might add some new slides or put something new in that spot.

Long live River Country!!!

I went there in August of 2000, so it seems not to be closed for that many years. And according to the other replies on this topic, it wasn't closed last year as well.

WOO HOO!!! My first post.
Anyway, the rumor that I've heard is that River Country will be turned into a themed water area for Wilderness Lodge. That would make sense since the vacation villas have been added not to far from there.

The villas are at the Wilderness Lodge, which already has a themed pool.

I got a bit nostalgic tonight thinking about all those years and posts ago, and had to find my first post. I'm such a dork. Has anoyone else gone and found their first post?

No, but that's actually a fun idea!

And here I was going to knock the thread revival. :)
