Where's your first post? The first one I see from you is June 1st, 2002, regarding Celebration... Here:
Right here. Pre-dating the Celebration post by about 40min.

I read through a lot of my early posts today. A ton of them are about Everest, or what we then just called Forbidden Mountain. I knew a lot more about it than I could post, and I remember well how tough it was not to just spill the beans. (Espcially cool are the ones where Corrus, MKT and Pheneix were trying to counter what I was saying, insisting that nothing was coming to AK. Good times. )
Actually, I did have some of it wrong. I was being told that there would be more than one Yeti (the first one got cut), that most of the ride would take place inside the mountain (doesn't), and that Vekoma would not be building the ride system (but they did). Oops...

Although I don't have nearly as many posts, it was fun to go back five years and look at my first posts. My very first was responding to someone looking for ideas to propose in WDW and I shared my experience. My second post brought me back, however, to the first and only time I had some "insider" information, although I was a little hesitant to put it all out there.

Okay here it goes, this is like my 2nd post, but I actually feel like I have some kind of related news to a rumor for once. So don't kill the messenger, I'm just passing on what I learned today...

It's a long story, but I was talking about Disney with a coworker today. Apparently her friend works for a Tony Award winning composer (Avenue Q) who she was told is writing music for an attraction based on Finding Nemo. Her friend was going to be taking the trip down with him to WDW to meet with Disney and take a look at the space that would be used.

Now I realize that he could simply be writing new music for Living Seas if a full Nemo overlay was going to continue there. But personally I'm not sure that you bring in a Broadway composer to write background music for an aquarium. And I find it interesting that Avenue Q was also mentioned in another post on this thread.

So take this as you wish, but I tend to believe something is on the way soon.
I was actually fortunate to get my hands on the complete "test" soundtrack months before the show opened. It's pretty much identical to the current show and I listen to it every once in a while. It's funny to read the other posts from those who doubted the information or didn't like it one bit. I think it's a good example of a time where Disney delivered on improving a venue and show, even though a lot of us were skeptical.

Since I stumbled upon this information from the librarian at my school (seriously), it will probably be the only time I'll ever have something big to share. Looking back now, maybe I should have spilled all the beans while I had the chance!

I also noticed General Grizz posted on that thread...

I think that they are in a different way. Your son is going to be raised in a different world, where technology and progression are the keys to success. Disney has no choice but to keep up with that and keep their attractions somewhat in line with the way of the world. Dark rides are great, and we will always have them and new ones in some capacity or another (Little Mermaid). However, the bigger attractions are going to be more thrill inducing, more interactive, and more technologically advanced than anything you could have imagined 20 years ago. I think that if your son wasn't seeing the most state of the art things and saw an attraction such as Horizons, he would probably put his head down and not connect to it at all.

I agree 100%. While we all want to share our own childhood favorites with our own kids, we have to realize that some of them deserved to be replaced and/or updated. I actually think my kids will grow up enjoying WDW even more than I did, as there is simply more to offer that appeals differently to everyone. I also have a much better appreciation for it all than my parents ever did. Here they just thought they were getting the family away for a week, little did they know the obsession they were starting!

It's funny this thread should pop up around this time. Believe it or not but RC is to be repurposed. I don't have a time line but it's among a whole mess of things planned in that general area of WDW.

I just looked up my first posts, and found they were in a thread about someone complaining that Disney was not offering any discounts (March 2005). JPVonDrake mentions on that thread how busy CRO had been:

Actually, we are currently on 15 hours of required overtime, and have been on between 10-20 hours per week since January 2. ($ not that I'm complaining $)

Remember this year with free refrigerators in the Moderate & Deluxe resorts, free transfers from the airport with Disney's Magical Express, several new major attractions, and a few minor ones opening this year, and new lower ticket prices for guest staying longer stays, enhanced Extra Magic Hours, and new vacation packages, guest are getting a great value even at regular room rates this year!

Wow, this sounds interesting. "Repurposed" sounds a lot different than demolishing it, which is what I would expect at this point. Thanks for the info!

Certainly demolition will be step one of the repurposing. I'd personally like to see a Fort Wilderness/WL water play area with a few slides, a white water raft ride and some old fashioned swimmin' hole fun....

If it is going to be repurposed for WL or WCG then it most definitely has to be a Watering Hole and not a Water Park! Hopefully that will be easy as that is how it was originally designed. I suspect that everything would have to go though as they are in almost 10 years of neglect.

This brings such joy to my heart to hear that something, anything will finally be done with this classic piece of the Vacation Kingdom.

WOW, this makes me happy for the future, but will it be a ticket park?

I doubt it. Evidently Disney feels the area is too small for a ticketed park. The term "re-purposed", to me, means that it will be something TOTALLY different.
