Trip Report Riffraff, Street Rat...No one appreciates I'm broke.

What a great trip!

We arrived October 19th and left on the 24th. It was another stay at a Value, which I keep saying is my last time at a Value but with these yearly trips instead of every other year that's what is in the budget. This was a last minute (well 65 days is last minute for Disney) mother and other daughter trip (in case you read my mother daughter report from last year) , so we raided the coin jars, searched the couch cushions, stole money out of my husbands wallet and made it happen. We hit each park for one day each and had an evening at Disney Springs. I didn't take notes and I only have my photos as a guide for this report so we better get on with the details before I forget everything.

Trip takers for this one: Me & E. Sorry but the all pictures of us look just like this.

Saturday, October 19th:

E drove to my house the night before since we had a morning flight. We got up around 4:45 am and was on the road by 5:20. The ride to the airport is a tad bit over two hours so we made a pit stop. I've added this since we crazy Disney people seem to like bathroom, light fixtures and food pictures.
IMG_1072.JPG

Everything went smooth at the airport, as proof here is the obligatory airport photo. She has no idea how many photos are in her future.
ILYW4489.JPG

When we arrived at ME it was the most crowded I've had to deal with. I guess I've been lucky in the past. We waited awhile but then had our own bus to the resort. Which is good because sharing a bus sucks 85% of the time.

IMG_1078.JPG

E commented several times that our driver was in the video but I missed it every time due to gawking out the windows. I didn't have cash on me to tip the driver. I always feel like a schmuck when I don't tip the bus driver from MDE. Why? I don't know. I don't tip the maid. I digress

IMG_1079.JPG

We arrived at POP and I hadn't received a room ready text so off we go to the front desk and wait our turn. The oddest CM I've ever dealt with helped us. He was young and in my opinion trying to impress/badly flirt with E. I previously requested a room in building 6 facing the water, I wanted close to the skyliner, we got building 3. It was the next building over and wasn't bad. E was celebrating college graduation and on her celebrating pin he wrote Navigator since he said she was in charge of the room map. Both confused and ready to run we headed to our room.

IMG_1080.JPG

IMG_1081.JPG

We put both beds down and there was still plenty of room for both of us to walk around.

With stomachs rumbling we headed for the bus stop to Disney Springs

IMG_1082.JPG

Here's the - I just arrived at Disney face -

And the - try not to look like an idiot and just be cool face -

Hollywood Studios Day!!!

I have to tell you I woke up with the worst headache. It was just pounding and so deep. (that sounds kind of funny but on the rare chance I have a headache it's usually around my eyes but this just seems to be all over and felt like my head was being squeezed in a vice). It was tolerable when we were just walking or being still but once the rides started it intensified. But when at Disney you suck it up and have a good time regardless. Anyway.

EMH started at 6am today so we were up at 5am and headed out the door by 5:45ish. We had to ride the bus since the skyliner doesn't start until 8am. There was a bus waiting for us! Bag check was very quick and we were in. It seemed so strange entering in the dark.

IMG_1198.JPG

We aren't Star Wars fans so we headed to Toy Story Land. It was my first time seeing it in person (last year C and I missed it by two days). It wasn't busy at all, although most don't want to get up at 6am. We were in and out of Toy Story Land in less than an hour.
IMG_1200.JPG

We went to Slinky first since it wasn't one of our FP's. The wait said 30 minutes but it was half of that I'm guessing.

IMG_1201.JPG

I've seen many pictures of the Land but it is just so detailed and neat to see in person. Loved seeing all the old games I played when I was young.

IMG_1202.JPG

We didn't even ask for the back row but we got it!!

IMG_1203.JPG

I loved it but it didn't help my headache at all.

IMG_1204.JPG

This is one of E's favorites. No worries about lines at 6:30 in the morning.

IMG_1205.JPG

Look MOM I've got my Magic Band

IMG_1206.JPG

See how happy I seem before the ride starts! I think I screamed through this whole ride. My head! Don't get me wrong, it's a cute and fun little ride but does nothing to ease a headache. E thought it was funny. She isn't mean but I was doing my best to make it comical and fun while in pain.

We headed out of TSL and where do you think E picked next? I know where we're going and I'm dreading it.

IMG_1210.JPG

Apparently I'm a glutton for punishment. This was not a smart idea. Riding this was worse than all three of TSL rides together. But I love my picture though. :joyfull: Again still no lines. We even walked through the room with the Aerosmith show.

IMG_1211.JPG

E is still trying to make the worst faces possible. Me, I'm just anticipating the pain.

IMG_1212.JPG

Still torturing myself.

Hopefully this doesn't happen to you again, but if it does, chug water. Or gatorade. Or gatorade mixed with water. Chug it until you feel like you're going to vomit. And then eat something like bread to counteract that.

We decided it was time to head over to Star Wars. This gives my head plenty of time to rest and after this I'm feeling like my normal self. We went there through TSL and really had no idea what we were looking at. It was very detailed and nice.

IMG_1219.JPG

Once I see the big white ship I know I've came across the ride. the wait time is 30 minutes and we decide to get in line the break helps my head and is a time eater which we need in HS since I spaced my FP's too late here.

I saw @wdisney9000 take a pic here. I have no idea what it is, a game maybe?

IMG_1223.JPG

We were in line with a family of 5. Mom, Dad, and 3 boys. One of the boys didn't pass the height requirement by a hair and I mean a hair. I actually think he was taller but he kept scrunching his shoulders and head because the CM kept trying to touch him to get him to stand straight. Mom didn't seem to mind and left with the little one. Dad was so excited though and I'm guessing he rode it before because he seemed to know what to do. This is good for E and I. We both got Engineers. After explaining more than once I might add he got us to understand he wanted to switch things up to make it easier for his boys. E and I became pilots, dad was an engineer and I'm not sure what the boys were since one was originally a pilot. All I know as that we didn't crash and we our ship only needed minor repairs.

IMG_1225.JPG

IMG_1226.JPG

IMG_1227.JPG

After this we were ready to leave. I wasn't really sure how to get out of there so I walked up to a CM and asked if a particular path was to Toy Story Land, we were wanting to go the other way. She looked at me with big eyes and said "OOhhhh do you mean that land with the really big toys" :hilarious: she said, "it's through that way but to be careful". I let her know we would go in the opposite direction.

It did happen on our last day! I did drink a ton of water after E suggested I might need more water. She's a smart girl. I swear I ran to the bathroom 5 times in less than an hour. But I did feel better.

I'm guessing it's between 8-9am. When we get off the SW ride the line is very long.

We are also getting hungry. I've tried the Pretzel, now it's time to try most delicious popcorn ever, at least so I'm told. Who doesn't like popcorn at 9am in the morning? E thought it was average. I thought it was very good. We sat and people watched for a bit then decided to go see Voyage to the Mermaid - is that what's it's called? I like this show. It's outdated but I like it.

IMG_1231.JPG

E needs coffee so off we go to Starbucks. I bought a piece of the Lemon pound cake and it was delish. E agrees.

IMG_1232.JPG

Our first FP isn't until 10:15 and we still have time to waste so we head over to ride Star Tours, this was a FP for later but was a walk on now so we switched it to Muppets  ( it was slim pickens on FP's). I usually get dizzy and have to close my eyes half way through but this time I was good. I talked E into Frozen sing along. She really was hesitant but ended up enjoying it. As were walking there from Star Tours the non EMH crowds are racing to Star Wars Land, literally speed walking one couple running. It's comical to watch. I hope I don't look like that when I get there late. When we reach Frozen we find out Ben isn't there. The lady villager was great the man was ok. I wish she would have seen Ben instead but she doesn't know the difference and still liked it. This mom in front of us let her daughter stand on the chair the whole time. She was small but not that small that she wouldn't have been able to see if she was sitting. I was so tempted to tap the mom on the shoulder and say something but I didn't. I mean I couldn't, the little girl had an Elsa dress on. Apparently this was the highlight of her HS day.

After TOT we walked back over to where we just were to watch Muppets. I was very happy to see my favorite Muppets skit from the 70's represented!

I've had this pizza so many times between Pizza Planet, Pizzafari, and now PizzaRizzo. This time it was horrible. I don't think it was cooked all the way through. My salad was good but it has me not wanting to eat there again anytime soon. I'm sure it was just from being under done.

No.... even if she was small enough to where she couldn't see sitting, she should have been sitting on moms lap. There is no excuse for this.

Time for FP #3. E loves this show. I hate that 6 (is it 6) of the 7 (is it 7) rides at HS are in tier one. It's ridiculous. Why even have FP's. Anyway, squirrel. It was very warm and of course they want you to squeeze together but I'm not complaining because I get to sit and relax. It was a great show and one of the male villagers was just fantastic. He was on point with his ques and facial expressions. I thought he did better than Gaston! Although at the end while everyone did their bow he seemed to take an extra amount of time and didn't want to leave the stage. He did awesome staying in character.

We decided to head back to the hotel and take a break. We got to ride the Skyliner back to POP. It was around 1:30-2:00 and there was no line waiting to hop on. It was a smooth ride and very quiet. Like I said early it was very warm and I was wondering how stuffy it would be. It was very enjoyable - Breezy.

IMG_1256.JPG

We did have to get off and then switch lines which I thought would be a bit of a pain but it was quick and painless. We were at POP in less than 10 minutes from the time we left HS. No waiting for the bus, no standing on a full bus. Two thumbs up.

IMG_1258.JPG

Once we got back we hopped into our suits and headed to the pool. This is where I don't like values. The pools. The staff and rooms are always great but the pools suck. Well, I guess it's better than no pool.

IMG_1259.JPG

We each had one of these!! Pina Colava :inlove:

IMG_1260.JPG

And as soon as we sat down. It started to rain. So we moved it to a table and still enjoyed our drinks. The rain lasted about 5 minutes. The sun never came back out but I still enjoyed a dip in the pool while E headed back to the room to relax and watch Netflix.

It looks like early extra hours are the way to go at HS! We are early risers, though not at Disney for some reason? I would love to get all the rides done before the crowds come in. I will learn from you and book our fp's earlier than you did. Glad your headache got better! You are a trouper to ride all those rides with a headache. Rocking Roller Coaster gives me a headache, so can't ride it anymore. enjoying your trip report and awaiting our trip.

Probably the exhaustion from how much a Disney trip physically demands from you, that being said Disney is the only place I can wake up early and be happy about it. On my last trip to WDW with my parents they both teased me for being so energetic so early when I'm usually a zombie when leaving for work in the mornings no matter how much sleep I get the night before. Also EMH looks to definitely be the way to go at HS, when I went I don't think we had EMH for HS so it was a long line even though I went straight to the ToT since I no longer have it in DLR :(

EMH is definitely the way to go at HS. All the tier 1 rides were a walk on from 6-7:3am, we also actually waited less than the 30 minutes that was posted for the new Star Wars ride. I always plan my FP's to start late morning at the parks and it usually is perfect for us but at HS we have a hard time filling up a whole day so I should've started them about an hour sooner. I always also do the first 3 back to back so I can start booking additional ones after I've used my 3rd. I hate to say it but Rockin Roller Coaster almost always gives me an instant headache after I ride it but it goes away fast. Not this time. Thank you for reading.

When I'm lounging at the pools at Disney I want more landscape, palm trees, hot tub, more ambiance, and even a slide. That sort of frivolous stuff. The pools are nice I'd just like more luxury and less RiffRaff. ;) With all that said the water was perfect, not overly crowded with kids and I did enjoy my time there.

We had breaked long enough, when we left the room it didn't look like the skyliners were running but we went over to check. Due to lighting in the area they weren't running. Understandable. But I couldn't believe what I heard the CM telling people. He said that a vacationeer told him that busses weren't running to Epcot and HS so we'd have to take a bus to MK then transfer to an EP or HS bus. E was totally buying it. As were other people and they weren't happy. First of all why is he telling everyone what a commoner told him and not a supervisor? I look at E and shake my head, we turn around and walk to the bus stops and I tell her that there is no way Disney will not run buses to EP and HS. Wouldn't you know it, as soon as we reached the bus stop a HS bus was there within a few minutes.

Watch out bus drivers, skyliner operators may take your spot as CM's giving the most wrong information. :D

When we arrived we headed back to TSL, wait time for TSMM was just a few minutes so we hopped on for a second spin. E beat me this time

I didn't see this in the morning since it was so dark but when I came up to this bench it brought back so many memories. My momma still has this wooden train set. I loved playing with it when I was a kid and even played with it 15 years ago when my youngest was little.

This is the best light pole ever. So clever

IMG_1266.JPG

We left TSL and strolled through Star Wars Land again to get to our dinner destination.

I saw this in a window and had to get a pic for my drummer boy.

IMG_1269.JPG

Sorry. A selfish plug of my boy. Z will probably never take a Mother/Son trip to Disney. He likes Disney but would rather see other places. Z, his dad, and I will be going on our first cruise in January on Royal Caribbean.

zane.jpg

Ok, back on track. We arrived at Mama Melrose!

This picture is very special! If you follow @Tuvalu's trip report you'll see that she an Woody also ate at Mama Melrose not too long ago. I was so excited when I was reading her report and I looked at her pic and thought that looks very familiar, well E and I sat at the exact same table. I may not have met the famous Tuvalu, but I've sat in her chair! :joyfull:

IMG_1273.JPG

This margarita was fantastic. I definitely recommend. E got a sparkling Bellini. I wouldn't recommend but that's because I don't like sparkling anything. The rolls were great. E could've made a meal out of them. I had to hide the last one so she'd save room for dinner.

IMG_1272.JPG

E got the four cheese something or other. Last year when C and I ate here I ordered the pasta. It was so good so I ordered it again but this year it was just.....Pasta. Not sure what the difference was. E was raving about her dish (which I neglected to take a picture of) and told me to try a bite. If was soooo good. The portion was so large we could have split it. We had a good time and great service. We'll be back again.

We headed to TOT for one last ride. It was good but we've had better so we hopped in line again. Our last last ride on TOT had a great sequence. Best drops ever!!

We stopped in some shops and I bought myself an overpriced Disney sweatshirt in the newly hated Arendelle Blue. I love it!

~correction~ Arendelle Aqua - @dryerlintfan

IMG_1285.JPG

We left shortly before the park closed at 10pm. The Skyliners were up and running. We had no wait to board and had a cabin to ourselves.

It was another great day despite my headache. We didn't get to see the Indiana Jones show that E wanted to see and we chose not to watch Fantasmic at the last minute but other than that we left very happy. E's watch told us we walked 26,000 steps today.

Tomorrow we've got to get up early for Animal Kingdom's EMH 7am.
