Some of it got on his shirt and at the shop after the ride he was given a free t-shirt so that he didn't have to walk around the rest of the day with :hurl: on him. Has anyone else heard of things like this, not necessarily just MS but all disney rides, where somebody has recieved a free t-shirt after being sick?
It all depends how good you look wearing what you ate.:animwink:

My wife and rode it on our last trip, and will never do so again. I walked off feeling lightheaded. My wife had to sit on a bench for an hour before she felt well enough to continue our day. She loves roller coasters, but she said this made her feel like she was going to pass out. We ran into a couple later that night, and the conversation got around to M/S, and they had had the same problems we did. They saw someone removed by paramedics when they rode. He apparently was outside in the grass, and could not stop throwing up. I love thrill rides, but this was more than I care to experience again.

Wow. This ride seemes pretty harsh. I mean I have ridden every ride at DLR, DCA, Knotts Berry Farm, and Magic Mountain. ( with the exception of Scream) And I have never gotten remotely close to being sick. But this ride sounds bad. Can anyone compare it to a intense coaster or is it worse than that? I mean has antone ever heard of a ride with so many guests ending up with an accident on themselves. I will ride it no matter what. But my family might pass out on the first attempt.

I am a coaster fanatic, and I must say, this is nothing like a coaster. Whole different sensation, in my opinion. If you follow the guidelines given in the first post, there should be no problems. :)

I was watching the thing on TV last night about MS and they were showing the "guest" in line getting their assignment. They were standing left to right facing hte camera 1,2,3,4 and the light shined down on peoson 1 and said "Pilot" then went to person 2 and so one. So is that always the same? In other words, if I want to make sure I am the "Pilot" then I should make sure I am in the #1 spot?

The only reason that I haven't been on M:S is fear of throw-up.

:hurl:
Come On!!!!!!! Don't listen to everyone else!!!!!! Seriously, I have been on M:S at least 40 times and I have yet to see anyone throw up or even leave the ride queezy!!!!! M:S motion sickness is a LOT OF HYPE!!!!! Both my dad and my brother were reluctant the first time and they were both fine!!!!!! Just go!!! And besides, what is soooo bad about up ch__________g? It isn't going to kill you!!!!! At least then you will know not to go on M:S again!!!1

Also, those of you comparing the M:S ride system to Body Wars' ride system obviously haven't been on M:S or are just flat out stupid. I don't recall ever experiencing motion sickness on Body Wars and M:S doesn't have any of the herky-jerkiness (just made up that word) that Body Wars has!!!! Although, I would say you are more likely to get sick on Body Wars just due to the fact that you are not moving in any particular direction and are being thrown everywhere. I do however agree that the Body Wars video is fairly uncordinated to the ride system!!!!!

Have fun on your next ride on M:S.........JUST DO IT!!!!!!!!!! TRUST ME!!!!!

Please don't call people stupid.

Everyone's reaction to Mission: Space, or any ride for that matter, is different.

While it is true that no one really knows what his/her reaction will be beforehand, one could surmise that if the teacups or other simulators cause problems, discretion might just be the better course.

Those who do get sick on M:S are sick for quite some time. I would never try to shame someone into riding something that will ruin the rest of the day.

That is true. Never pressure some one into doing some that would ruin their day and maybe yours. Plus its really hard to have a bad day in Disney but people being sick is one of the only was to ruin a great day at Disney.

I suppose that your experience is the prototypical M:S experience? How arrogant of you to believe that because you had no problem then everyone else who rides M:S will experience the attraction just as you did? Good grief. M:S is an intense ride, period. No one can predict how they will react to it.

Just because you've never seen something doesn't mean it doesn't happen. Obviously you have never had food poisoning or any other illness which causes nausea, because throwing up is not pleasant. It's also not just the vomiting people don't like, it's the nausea associated with it. Actually, when you are nauseous, vomiting is kinda nice because it relieves the queasiness, if only temporarily.

And once again you are being rude to people who disagree with you. In most places, calling people stupid is considered mean.

True M:S is an intense ride. I just don't like those people who knock M:S as being a dissapointment and have never actually been on the ride!!!!!:hammer: I understand that my origional argument was kind of small minded but I think if a person is going to make a good decisions (riding M:S) they should hear the positives along with the negatives!!!!!!! Seriously, you'd think that everyone who goes on this ride throws up just by looking at this thread.

And to think that the origional plan for the ride was to have M:S give off even more G-FORCES!!!!! I'd say bring it on!!!!!!!!!

Ohhhhh BTW GO BUCKEYES!!!!!!!

The positions are always the same.

Also alittle hint if you want a more intense ride then sit on the outside seats. There are more G's on the out side. All this info came from a very nice cast member.

The general consesus about M:S says that the motion sickness is due mostly to low blood sugar (coupled with the intense nature of the ride, of course).

If you are suspect to motion sickness or low blood sugar, it is encouraged that you keep piece of hard candy or mint handy during the flight.

And for crying out loud, go to the bathroom BEFORE getting in line! I speak from experience on that one.

The problem with your arguement is that you took one post of a person saying that they probably wouldn't ride it because they were afraid of throwing up and decided that this was the whole tone of the thread. If you read through the thread you will see that almost everyone was being positive about the M:S experience and were giving tips to help others who might be riding in the future. You could have made your point about having no problems on M:S in a more appropriate and positive way.

Wow, I was more worried about how my neck would do on this right...I hadn't even thought about throwing up!

If you follow those rules and it works, then I'll do it. I'll be nervous, but I'll do it. I got a little ill on the Buzz LightYear Ride, so I don't know! I hated Space Mountain and the Star Tours because it was so jerky...I just tensed up the whole ride and felt it afterwards.

Is Mission Mars a "smooth" ride? It seemed to me all the newer rides are far more comfortable.

I also hadn't heard about spinning. Lunch two hours before hand is what Im' hearing!

I was scared of the Tower Of Terror but LOVED that and rode it several times, so I hope this ride will be the same way. We'll be there in February!

Thanks,
Heidi

Mission Space isn't jerky, in my opinion, compaired to something like Body Wars or Space Mountain. The G forces are just the only thing that could cause anyone problems for riders.
