Whoa, have you only seen the Ewoks movies and The Last Jedi?

Nah, the drop in product sales had to do with the fact that they created crap toys that year.
That is what literally ZERO of the industry analysts…or toy people…have said since.

They only work WORSE today…and abrams had caught more and more hell since.

Just leave the field and ā€œsave your armyā€ā€¦no need to fight old battles.

I can give you another example:
The prequels are now being received ā€œbetterā€ā€¦and they’re still atrocious movies. So why then?

What has the central theme been on the D+ series these last 3 years that have gotten more buzz.

Freud said ā€œsometimes a cake is just a cakeā€

Star Wars is a cake…trying to ā€œreinventā€ cake is and for ever will be stupid.

It IS what it IS.

Actually the real quote (which hasn't been proven to actually be uttered by Freud) is:

Sometimes a Cigar is just a Cigar.

And the meaning behind that quote is sometimes there is no deeper meaning behind something such as an image in a dream. Which if you know Freud's work is actually a funny thing for him to utter, which is why its never been proven that he actually said it. And personally I don't think it applies here as the topic is far to nuanced, ie there is deeper meaning to lots and lots in the fandom which is why it still continues to be a hotly debated topic.

Back on topic, I would not be surprised if Rian is still in talks to make a new trilogy in the Star Wars Universe. Will it see the light of day, I don't know. But I'm sure he is still in contact with people at LFL including Kennedy herself.

I think he just brings it up because he knows certain people are delighted at any chance to air their grievances about the movie for the umpteenth time.

I'm still a fan of TLJ. In an era where movie sequels barely stray from the original (The Force Awakens, Jurassic World, Top Gun) he made a movie, that if nothing else, wasn't a straight retread of what came before.

Good call…

Contractually ā€œin talksā€? Sure…I can see that.

But what’s the odds on that? We’re 5 years out…has a love for his ā€œreinventionā€ grown? Or have they kicked dirt on it and gone in another direction?

All 3 Movies - actually - If we’re honest.

You’re right there…

7 was a retread…and guess who misread it? (Hint…his name is ā€œBobā€)

To me it all sounds like a big case of hubris. No one wants to admit they messed up, especially in their treatment of Luke skywalker so we get all this intellectual reasons why we never understood the vision justifying how brilliant they are. Meanwhile they are so busy they can’t possibly do any more at the moment.

I’d much rather see a Dave Filoni movie than another RJ one, he gets star wars isn’t about shocking people but giving them hope.

Good, I'm glad, since he wrote and directed one of the top 3 Star Wars movies of all time.

(Am I poking the bear here?)

I'm very mixed as I feel the Rey/Luke/Kylo half of TLJ is absolutely among the best SW media ever produced, easily on par with the OT. But the boring slow car case in space and abysmal time on the casino planet drag the movie down considerably.

He cost them inCalculable BILLIONS in revenues from drops in product sales alone…

…he better bring his check book to the set.
Last Jedi did well at the Box Office. Sure, some manbabbies had their vocal fit and stamped their feet, but had Disney continued with making GOOD SW material, future projects would have done well. But, Solo was a mess. Rogue One was very uneven. Last Skywalker is worse than any of the Prequels. When Disney did create something good with Mandalorian, people were back and giving them money. Then Season 2 was a bit of a misstep followed by another terrible execution for Boba Fett.

You can't blame Rian Johnson when clearly the issue is Disney and delivering inconsistent quality.

Nope, but I would put the Ewok movies above Rise of Skywalker.

1. New Hope
2. Empire Strikes Back
3. Last Jedi
4. The Force Awakens
5. Revenge of the Sith
6. Rogue One
7. Return of the Jedi
8. Phantom Menace
9. Solo
10. Attack of the Clones
11. Rise of Skywalker

TFA was a retread, but audiences gobbled it up. Based on this, and the other movies I mentioned, audiences respond positively to the familiar.

Then people complain because Boba Fett is yet another series set on Tatooine.

The griping over TLJ means Disney is less likely to take risks and give us truly new experiences in the Star Wars universe, and we're all the worse off for it.
