Trip Report Revisiting 2016's War and peace I took one for the team

Hello it's me again and if you want to know what the title means you'll have to stick around for a while. Sorry but no spoiler This trip was 3 years in the making and the official countdown started at 439 days. Surprisingly the time seemed to fly by. Our little adventure was taken by me (for those who don't know I'm Figmentfan423 Figgy to my friends here), my dh and our 2 boys James 14 and fellow Disney planner and M who's a bit older autistic and doesn't like getting his picture taken or me talking about him. Our trip began at

am on July 30th. We sang happy birthday to my little guy while driving down the street on our way to Disney. I'm a very mean mommy who made my baby spend his birthday in the car. Any way it was smooth sailing until half way through Virginia where we hit rain and traffic all the way to the North Carolina border. It was bad enough we worried a bit about making it to our hotel for the first night but once we hit NC the skies cleared and so did the traffic:joyfull: and we made it to Florida

to take the obligitory first Florida picture of the boys. With a bit of luck and excitement we made it to Ormond Beach to get a good night's sleep.

It was then time for bit of shopping we went to the store with the kitchen items in Liberty Square and then Ye Olde Christmas Shoppe. I was so proud of myself! I didn't buy anything.

After that I went to the Tangled area. It's well done but it's a bathroom for heaven's sake. Rapunzel deserves so much better

After a bit of fun and walking we headed to our Tusker Hose Jungle Book package dinner and found this on our receipt and thought it both funny and sadView attachment 159811 Dinner was great and chef Royal was beyond helpful walking us through the buffet to find both safe and yummy items. I think the boys must have gone through 4 times finding new things to try each time. Almost everything was gluten free, most were dairy free and many were vegan, I was in food heaven! It was also a character meal so we had the added pleasure of meeting a few old friends. I got a Captain's Mai Tai and it was slurpalishiousView attachment 159812 View attachment 159813 View attachment 159814 View attachment 159815 View attachment 159816

Learning as you go. I was questioning the character dinner at Tuskers. The Disney description says all day and then really only refers to breakfast and lunch. We will be there in two weeks time to enjoy our dinner there.

I want to hear more. this is helping to get all excited about we are about to experience. Sorry, firsttimer.

You have to see them at rope drop or shortly there after or the line is crazy long I heard it got close to 2 hours.
Well, we went about 2 minutes before closing and only had to wait for 20 minutes, so that wasn't bad. We had been trying for days without waiting for over an hour and it wasn't happening, so I asked if there was a time besides rope drop that it died down and he said right before closing, and as long as you are in line before the door closes at 9, you would be ok. So that's what we did.

It's a classic and cute but that darn song does get stuck in your head LOL My boys are evil not so little buggers and then took us on another spin on the Tea Cups so my dh got his revenge by taking them on

Then it was over to Buzz and we played kids against adults our total vs theirs. We won! Which was amazing considering they play video games every chance they get.

I was hoping for a nice ride and it was we saw some people on a fishing tour, the breeze was nice all in all a nice ride over and then right before we got to WL there it was in the water another yucky snake and this one had a triangle shaped head. YUCK and stay away far, far away! I'm glad we were a bit early so we had some time to look around and steady my nerves.

I was a bit worried about lunch at Whispering Canyon because my dh takes his BBQ very seriously, he has a smoker nobody dares touch, soaks his wood in buckets for each type of wood, gets the meat to a certain temperature before putting it in the smoker etc.. Any way the boys wanted to go and it was all you can eat so why not try it. The guys got the all you care to eat skillet and I got the quinoa cakes to eat and I got a glass of Gunsmoke red wine (it seemed only right being a western themed restaurant) and Jim got a glass of red moscotto. The guys all liked the meat and even got seconds. They said it wasn't bad for a restaurant, high praise coming from picky BBQ eaters. The gluten free corn bread was pretty good but a bit too sweet but the guys did not like the beans. They could tell they were canned and doctored up, note to self do not make home made baked beans just before going to Disney. Just a little FYI I soak beans and then cook them in the oven on low for hours. The quinoa cakes were excellent and Chef Philippe was nice enough to give me the recipe. Both glasses of wine were nice.

Because of our allergies they seated us in the quiet section but with a full view of all the goings on and our waiter sang the funniest way off key version of Happy Birthday to my ds All in all it was fun

It was time to head to one of our favorites and it had no line.

For those who don't know that's the key under the mat at the Muppets. Then we took a quick walk over to Star Tours and then over to Launch Bay where I left they guys while I went to see Beauty and the Beast, their loss

Maybe my nerves weren't as steady as I thought because I

felt the need to go check out the Brown Derby Lounge. Good an excuse as any LOL I got the red Sangria and Jim got the white. Both were pretty good. While we were there the boys went on ST again hoping to be the Rebel Spy silly me said if either was chosen I'd buy them the T shirt. We met up and saw this fine fellow enjoying summer
