Resort to Cruise Transportation

I think Alamo is one of the companies that you have to take a shuttle to get to the car pick-up/drop-off. I did it once, it was a 10 minute ride, I think. Not too bad. I usually just use Advantage or Budget, whichever is cheaper on priceline.com.

They all have shuttle service to the port - none are AT the port

It really makes no difference which one is closer or farther to the port, they are all within 2 - 3 miles. Any time you "save" by choosing a rental car company that is 5 minute closer to the port may be negated if you happen to get there just after their shuttle leaves. I would say, as an absolute worst case scenario, with any major rental company in the area you will be at the port building an hour after you pull into the rental car lot. That assumes there is a big line to return cars, that the shuttle bus leaves just before you finish returning your car, and you have to wait 15 minutes for the next one.

I have rented cars for two different cruises. Once I rented the night before from just off WDW property and drove in the next morning. The second time I rented from the airport and stayed overnight in the area of the port and returned the car the next morning (I was trying to find a hotel with a shuttle so I could return the car the night before, but no luck). I used two different companies (I can't recall which) and both times we were at the cruise port within 30 to 40 minutes of arriving at the rental car place.

I guess I misunderstood what we were talking about. My earlier comment about the shuttle was referring to rental car pick-up at the airport (MCO), not the cruise port. Sorry for any confusion.

Did you go through an agency, or directly with Disney?

I rented with Alamo at Port Canaveral to go back to WDW after my cruise. I booked my cruise through the Disney website. Do I call Disney directly to get the xfer from my hotel to the port? And thanks to everyone who has or will reply.

If you booked through Disney directly, call Disney directly. :)
