Resort Sleeping!

After reading about a member sleeping 4 to 5 hours only at his Disney resort,it suddenly dawned on me that I sleep much less whilst on my Disney vacation than at home. Now this has got me tinking ( as usual ) But do you sleep less at your Disney resort than you would at home? Now it ain't got anything to do about the comfy beds or lack of noise, but I think the sheer excitement of staying at a Disney resort puts my sleeping clock out of order. If I'am beginning to sound like a Disney therapist then I truly must apologise, but god damn it,tell me your sleeping less at your resort,or am I going round the bend.

In general, I sleep less when I'm on vacation.
When I'm in vacation, I want to do stuff that I can't do when I'm at home. I can sleep as much as I want any normal day of my life. When I'm at Disney, or in Vegas or wherever, I want to do the things that those places have that home doesn't.

You know, I think I may actually get more sleep at WDW than home. While I normally get to sleep around 12:30 to 1:30 am on a normal day, being tired at work is no where near as bad as being tired at WDW. I can be severly sleep deprived by a work week's end and look forward to sleeping in on the weekend. At WDW, I want to wake up each day feeling really good so I can trek those same 3000 miles a day @DisneyDebNJ covers without dragging, otherwise by Thursday, we are all tuckered out.

I think I sleep better on vacation than at home! Granted I'm a good sleeper to begin with, but at Disney there's no stress and I'm tired from walking and sweating all day. I'm glad I sleep well considering the beds are equivalent to sleeping on a potato sack.

I usually go to bed at about 11 at home. But when I am in Disney, I am still at the parks at 11. We go to bed late and I am the only one who wakes up early. (I am rearing to go...wake up people!!!!) Everyone else wakes up, showers and we saunter out the door.

But I must say that when I am in Disney, my kids, hubby and I sleep like rocks!!I am going to say that the 3000 mile walks help with sleeping so soundly. The beds are pretty comfy but my guess is it is the long days of walking.

I sleep less, but I don't think it's the excitement that does it to me. DH snores  and earplugs can only do so much to block out that kind of noise. At home, I can retreat to the guest bedroom if my darling chainsaw ;) gets too loud, but I'm kind of stuck on vacay unless I want to go sleep in the bathtub (I resorted to that once while on vacay overseas). There was seriously one night on this last trip ... about 3 am ... and I seriously thought about snagging a lounge chair from the quiet pool just outside our patio, dragging it to said patio, and sleeping out there with the door cracked...ya know, just enough to hear the kids since DH could sleep through anything.

In a word yes, I go to bed a lot later but my feet still hit the deck 0500 hours. I'm up shower, shave shine and hit it by 0600 I love sitting in the lobby, reading my paper with coffee then walking around the resort exploring and talking to cast members. Ranger Stan you were always pleasant and fun to talk to, rest easy my friend.

We sleep more on vacation. Being in the sunshine all day, doing all the walking/standing, and just exerting energy all day makes us happy when sacktime hits. I am in the chainsaw in the family and feel guilty for making my wife's sleep somewhat challenging. Plus, we don't focus on rope drop but want to savor the time we get. I used to do what I referred to as the "Caudill Death March" but no longer feel quite the urgency about the parks.

I am so exhausted that I go right to sleep! And its so dark and quiet and the comfy cozy beds! So I could sleep for a lot longer....but i'm so excited to get the next day started, I find i'm up rather early! :)

I'm usually exhausted and sleep like a baby while at WDW. We used to try to get up at the crack of dawn but these days it's whenever we get rolling.

We're with the group on this one; we can sleep at home. When we are at Disney we hit the rack late and sleep like babies but we are always ready to rise early to start our day. We actually looked into buying a Disney bed because they are some comfortable.

I'm one of those rope drop to last ride people, so I don't sleep too much when I'm at a Disney park. The last few years I've been to Disneyland Paris more than the american parks so I sleep once the parks are closed, but if I'm at WDW, even when the parks close I go to DTD or something else on property. I sleep on the plane or when I'm at home. I like to maximize my time, and drink a lot of coffee.

It has changed for me over the years. I used to be one of the ones that went from rope drop to "get out we're closed" but over the years I've learned to plan so I can enjoy things without feeling exhausted the whole time.

That typically means I rarely am at a park at rope drop. Instead of joining the morning rush I'd rather sleep a few extra minutes and linger over breakfast before heading out. My last few trips have been in the summer and a mid-day return to the hotel for a little downtime or quick nap has been indispensable to surviving the heat.

I've also begun adding an extra day into the trip to have a "no parks day" in the middle of the vacation. Shopping, resort hopping, either the pool or a water park, anything to avoid going to a major park for just one day helps break up the week and lets me recharge a little without completely losing the feeling of being on a Disney vacation.

Even with the late start and a mid-day break it's easy to be in the parks for 10 or 12 hours; plenty of time to see and do everything without burning out.
