I have a week long trip planned in January and I want to try some of the restaurants in the resorts. The only one that I have been to is Chef Mickey's and I loved it. I have pretty much eaten at all of the restaurants in the parks, but I want to try something new. I have been told to try the clam bake at the Beach Club Resort and Ohana's. Any other suggestion's?????

Oh Meyla Weyla
Cape May is indeed very good. I'd also suggest Boma at AKL for something different, as well as Whispering Canyon at WL.

Honestly, there are a whole bunch of great places to try in the resorts! It's hard to name just a couple!

For steak... Yachtsman Steakhouse at YC is great
for seafood... Flying Fish at BW or Fulton's :)slurp:) at DTD
for unique dining choices... Jiko at AKL or Artist Point at WL
for possible fireworks with great food... California Grill at CR or Narcoossee's at GF

sheesh I'm getting really hungry now :slurp:

It depends on what kind of food and atmosphere you like. But I've rarely had a bad experience at the resort restaurants.

For unusual cuisine, Boma (buffet) and Jiko (Fine dining) at AKL are great. Ohana (table service all you can eat) is different and a lot of fun and the skewed meats are excellent.

My family enjoys the Cape May Cafe (buffet) at the Beach Club for seafood and good old american food. For steak, I enjoy the Concourse Steakhouse both for the food and the view of the monorails going by. I've also enjoyed the Maya Grill at Coronado for steak with a little Latin influence.

Whispering Canyon Cafe is plain fun. The is good but not great, but the entertainment from the staff always makes me laugh -- it is loud though, so come prepared.

If you're looking for fine dining, California Grill atop the Contemporary is hard to beat. Great food, service, and view.

You don't mention if you've tried the restaurants at Downtown Disney or not, but let me recommend Portobello Yacht Club. I had a great meal there a month ago after being disappointed that I couldn't get my large party into other places at the last minute.

Will you have kids with you? If so, Whispering Canyon at WL is great. Will you be with a significant other? Then the Artist Point at WL is very romantic, or the California Grill at the CR.

A hidden gem is the Yacht Club Galley at the Yacht club. You usually don't need ADR and the food is great. Atomosphere is just alright, but the food and service make up for it. I have been going to WDW for the last 25 years and never went here, but I will be going from now on. The prime rib is awesome and reasonably priced. I would go to the Concourse steakhouse since it will be closing in the spring. Hope that helps and have fun!!

Boma was absolutely wonderful and we greatly enjoyed Flying Fish Cafe over at the Boardwalk. Also for a substantial lunch, Kona Cafe was fantastic (if you like Pan-Asian cuisine)

Thank you all for your suggestions. I think that for the 8 nights that we are going to be there, I will try one new restaurant suggested each night. It will be hard, but someone has to do it.

To answer some of the questions asked. No kids, just my husband and myself and yes we have tried some of the restaurants in DTD: Rainforest Cafe, Bongos, Wolfgang Puck, and the one that is next to Rainforest. I think its Captain something (can't remember).

I love all kinds of food. From seafood to pasta's to steaks. My husband also likes everything, but his main passion is steak's. He loves a good steak house.

If it is a steak you prefer then definately go to Yachtsman Steakhouse in the YC. It is wonderful! Also try some of these.

Boma @ AKL
California Grill @ Contemporary
Ohana's @ Poly
Citricos @ GF
Whispering Canyon Cafe' @ WL
1900 Park Fare @ GF

Have fun trying all the new food.

If you haven't gone to the Hoop-de-Doo Review it is a must. And if you want something special but expensive try Victoria and Alberts.

If it's just the two of you, consider a very special dinner at Victoria and Albert's:

Ever since I saw one of those Disney tv specials that featured the Disney resort and parks restaurants, I have been wanting to go to Victoria and Albert's. It looked sooooo yummy :slurp:. But I think I am going to save this one for a special occasion.

I am just about to call to start making my ADR's for my trip. Can't wait till I'm there!!!:sohappy:

One more question, and there is a follow up, Senator...

Are you going to have a car, or will you be using Disney Transportation? And if it's the latter, do you know your schedule for visiting parks? I ask because, if you're only using Disney transportation, and since you're going during a time that you won't be sweating your head off, you might want to arrange your ADRs around the parks you'll be visiting any given day. For instance, if you want to eat at a monorail resort, that should be the day you visit MK. Epcot resorts if you're at Epcot or the Studios, AKL if you're at AK. This way, considering the parks might close early, you can jump on a bus straight to that resort after park closing. Your only dilemma then is to take a bus to DTD and from there back to your resort. If the park du jour closes later or has EMH, you can arrange an early dinner, then go back to the park to close it, and getting home is that much easier. Probably stuff you thought of, but never hurts to repeat.

And put me down for Boma and Cali Grill as must-trys. Ohana's wasn't so hot last time I went. Hoop de Doo is fun, and food is pretty good (go more for the show than the dining, but you won't leave hungry). I had breakfast at Spoodles which was really good.

You must be reading my mind. At this moment, I am looking at the Disney website, at the calender seeing the times and the EMH, trying to figure out which park I will be in that day to plan which restaurant I will go to.

So far these are the restaurants that are on the top of my list to visit:
Cape May Cafe
Yachstman Steakhouse
Boma
California Grill
Ohana
Whispering Canyon
