Resort Rehabs

I was just looking at some resort pictures and wonder when ASMovies and Pop Century will be rehabbed. Has Pop even had a rehab since it opened? I know it opened in April of 2003, so about 5 years? The pictures of the Pop rooms look really outdated, and it would follow that ASMovies would be up next considering Sports and Music have been done already. Any thoughts?

Pop opened in December 2003.
Music and Sports opened in 1994.
Movies opened in 1999.

Now, remember that part of the reason for the refurbs on Music and Sports were the family suites. That kind of sped along the process.

Check back in about 2012 for Movies and 2015 for Pop.

Also, if they DO open the Legendary Years of Pop any time soon, that might slow things down even more.

You should also remember that it took about 35 years to get a full refurbishment at the Contemporary. (Small things had been done in between, but not full refurbs) Doing what they did at Music and Sports was basically unheard of. There are a lot more hotels that need updating than Movies and Pop. Basically, the moderates come to mind. Don't hold your breath for a refurb at those two.

Th average rehab time for the hotels is between 6-7 years. Pop is a joke. The other phase that was never finished looks like a eyesore. I am hoping Walt comes back from the grave to find out who came up with the idea to leave the buildings up like they are. It reminds me of when I visited Athens Greece in 1981 and saw all the unfinished buildings standing.

Well actually, I think Coronado is the only Moderate that hasn't really had a refurb of any kind.

French Quarter got a large refurb before it reopened after its 2001/2002 tourism-slump closure.

Riverside went through a refurb in phases a few years ago. All bedding, curtains, carpeting were replaced, the vanity area floors were redone. They closed a building or two at a time.

Caribbean Beach went through a bit of a refurb. I don't know about the rooms, but the food court had a MAJOR refurb a few years ago, and the main pool area is currently closed for a big refurb. I'm sure the rooms have had some sort of touch-ups done along the way.

Coronado is the only Moderate that I haven't heard of getting a refurb at all, outside the small job of creating the new nightclub/lounge in the main building last year (which I'm blanking on the name of).

I know that some if not all of the rooms at Movies have been redone, at least in the ones by the main pool have been. We stayed there in Oct 06 and it was great. The rooms looked brand new, and we didn't have the suite, we had two rooms together. I think that the suites were close to us though.

Judging from the title of this thread, I thought it was going to be asking about resorts for people like Lindsey Lohan and Brittney Spears and Amy Winehouse.

Alas, it's not.
