Resort Mugs

Does anyone know if they are releasing new resort mugs for the holidays or are they the same mugs they had earlier in the year? For anyone wondering, no we are not planning to reuse our mugs on this visit just curious if to know if there are new ones or the same.

It was never a barcode system. It was RFID tech and it was tested at the All Stars Sports, but nowhere else so far.

I have a mug from All Star Sports (late Sept) and I think I can see the chip under where the handle attaches to the cup.

Interesting that there is a chip under your handle, but I think that the RFID tags are part of a sticker that get's placed on the bottom of the mug. Not sure what the chip you're seeing is related to. It could be just a regular piece of the cup though. This is what the RFID chip is supposed to look like under the plain white square sticker. It's just like the RFID security tags placed inside CD and DVD cases these days.

No resort mugs, but they have in the past had the same type of mugs that they serve with hot chocolate at MK. I remember getting one two years ago at MK at Casey's. Don't think it was refillable, just a special holiday mug that resembled the resort mugs with a holiday scene.

WHen I was going around to each resort back in October, one of the cast members said the demand for resort merchandise has been asked about so many times. She also said you should see resort specific merchandise back soon.

Unfortunately, I am sure you are right. I know that it is financially more sound to offer one style rather than many different ones. But it's all about me right? LOL

The new mugs that started this year have a beach/pool theme on them with Daisy and Minnie on lounge chairs, Mickey going down a slide, and Pluto, Goofy in the pool and Donald by the pool. They came in more bright colors: blue, pink, yellow, and then black. I too was hoping for new mugs in December, but like the new theme.

They have it again this season. My wife picked one up while getting hot chocolate this weekend at Magic Kingdom. I don't know exactly where because I was on Space Mountain at the time, just somewhere in Tomorrowland and some people were using them at the resort to bum some free soda.

I think those are the old mugs. The new mugs are white with either yellow, black, pink or blue tops. They have been out since last February.

Thanks for the link. I have yet to go this year and had no idea they changed the mug design. I like the new beach one over the one I showed but I'd still rather have a resort specific mug.
